Thank you for your kindness with supporting Troop 399 Spring Flower Sales! The St. Hubert Sharing Parish Committee met with the St. Aloysius Sharing Parish Committee on Wednesday, April 25. In attendance from St. Aloysius were Father Claudio Diaz and the Sharing Parish representatives, as well as the St. Hubert Sharing Parish committee members. There was a special mention and fond remembrance of Eleanor Funk, our dear friend and committee member who passed away this past year. Discussion ensued about continued efforts from both parish committees for a viable, working relationship. It was agreed that St. Hubert parish s assistance for St. Aloysius parish will continue annually. These activities include the following events: First Communion clothes drive Boy Scout Post Office food drive sponsored by the St. Hubert Boys Scouts Summer Sharing Parish Picnic, which St. Hubert Parish will host on Saturday, August 11 Coat Collection on October 6 Thanksgiving Food Drive on November 18 Wishing Tree Project on December 16 On behalf of St. Aloysius parish, Fr. Claudio extended heartfelt thanks to all of the St. Hubert parishioners efforts to assist St. Al s. Following our meeting, the St. Aloysius parish volunteers hosted a wonderful lunch of favorite Puerto Rican foods/ flavors served on a special fiesta decorated table. Muchas Gracias!! Flowers will be available for pickup on Saturday, May 5 th and Sunday, May 6 th following all Masses. Flowers can be picked up in the St. Hubert School Lunch Room, door number 39. Prayer Shawl Ministry Meets this Sunday The last meeting of the season for St. Hubert Prayer Shawl Ministry will be this Sunday at 1:15 PM in the Dorothy Day Room of the Parish Ministry Center. MAY IS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE PREVENTION MONTH Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month is held each May to raise community awareness of the social and personal impacts of domestic and family violence and the support available to those affected. Some of the key aims of the month are to: Ensure those who are experiencing domestic and family violence know how to access help and support. Encourage people who use abuse and/or violence to take responsibility for their abusive behavior and seek support to change. How you can help???? It takes a lot of time, planning, help, and courage to escape domestic violence. It is important for the abused to know that help is available from people who know and care about the situation. Listen without judging - Tell your friend or family member that you care and are willing to listen. Believe the story. Never blame the abused for what's happening or underestimate the fear of danger. Let the abused know that no one deserves to be abused, beaten, or threatened. Allow the abused to make their own decisions - As you listen try to understand the many obstacles that prevent them from leaving a bad situation. It's usually very complex. Focus on your support. Guide the abused to a specialized domestic violence support service - Many people who have found freedom describe someone they knew (a neighbor, doctor, friend) offering support and referring them to a support service. Let the abused know she or he is not alone and that people are available to help. Many people first seek the advice of marriage counselors, psychiatrists, Church, and others. Unfortunately, not all helping professionals are fully aware of the complexities of domestic violence and the safety and privacy issues involved. They were very grateful. AMEN! Divine Mercy Devotion Every Thursday, after the Communion Service (about 7:30 AM), we will pray the chaplet of the Divine Mercy. Everyone is invited to participate. If there is a question, call Pat at 847-885-7700, ext. 104. A parishioner, Patrick Fleming, has offered to repair broken rosaries. There will be drop off receptacles at the ministry station in the narthex, and rosaries can be dropped off there. (The Ministry Station is the large brown cabinet by the main entrance on the South side of the church. There are slots on the left side of the station, and the receptacle for Rosary drop off is marked.) Patrick suggests putting any rosary to be repaired in an envelope with your name and phone number on it for return purposes. When repaired, we will call you to let you know you can pick it up. Please donate any unused, broken rosaries so that their parts can be used to repair member s rosaries. In addition to repairing rosaries, Patrick makes rosaries for the missions, and he also accepts any rosaries people wish to donate.
