Women s Book Club The Women s Book Club will meet Tuesday, August 21st at 10:30 A.M. in the conference room. The book that we are reading for August is: Arise: A 40 day Journey for Women by Melodi Hawley. Melodi is the pastor s wife, a speaker, and a pastor at Iheart Church in Beckley, WV. This devotion book is divided into 3 phases: (1) The Awaken Phase-this phase is dedicated to a time of deep self-examination of underlying emotional, mental, and spiritual stumbling blocks that keep us from living victoriously. (2) The Arise Phase-we will look at steps to begin getting up (arise!) from destructive lifestyle patterns. (3)The Shine Phase-The final phase of our journey will show us how we can shine as a beacon of hope for others who are hurting. God has a job for us to do while we are here on earth. You can pick up a copy of this book at the welcome center. Please come and join us at our next meeting. We meet every third Tuesday at 10:30 A.M. in the conference room. Touch LIFE Prayer Ministry My House will be known as a house of prayer, Jesus said in Matthew 21. Touch LIFE Prayer Ministry invites you to join them in praying for the lost. We all have family and friends that do not know the Lord Jesus Christ and the forgiveness of sin only He can offer. Who can you pray for? Touch LIFE Prayer Ministry meets the first Sunday of each month at 8:30 a.m. in Room 105 for a time of prayer for salvation for the lost. The next Touch LIFE prayer gathering will be Sunday August 5 You Can Give Through the Cross Point App! Ever been at church and not have cash or a check on you when it s time for the offering? Gifted 2 Serve Ephesians 4:11 tells us everyone is gifted to serve. When we discover our unique gifts and put them into action, great things are accomplished for God! We challenge everyone who calls Cross Point their home to get involved in serving. Serving at your church has a number of benefits. First, you are helping to make an eternal difference in the lives of others. You are helping to reach the lost, train disciples, and truly impact our community. Second, serving helps you grow in your own faith. As you become involved in serving, you develop a closer relationship with God and others. Third, there is an interesting statistic that says for every person involved in serving, the church will grow by 4 people. We have found this to be true. How does this work? Serving builds excitement about your church and you begin sharing that with those around you your family, friends, coworkers, and others. You want people to experience the same excitement you experience and that excitement is contagious. God is truly able to do big things when we all join together to make an impact. There is a place for you to serve at Cross Point. Here s how you can get involved: Step one: Discover your unique gifts. Each of us have unique gifts we can use to serve God. Cross Point has a handy tool to help you discover these gifts. Simply go to: Beckleycrosspoint.org and click on the Spiritual Gifts Link. Answer a few questions and you will receive a report showing you the areas you are most gifted. Cross Point will also receive a report of your giftedness. Step Two: Get involved. After we receive your gift report someone will contact you to discuss opportunities to serve using your gifts. It s then up to you to make the decision to serve to make an eternal impact. Thank you for your prayers and expressions of sympathy during the illness and death of Peggy (Carolyn s sister). We are truly blessed to have such a caring church family. -Carolyn & Russell Shaw A Special Thanks from the Shaws July Numbers (July 1-31) Average AM Attendance: 245 Tithes: $ 32,430.19 Building Fund: $ 7,191.73 Children: $ 301.25 Youth: $ 784.12 Day of Hope: $ 1,699.62 Faith Promise: $ 75.00 Total Giving: $ 42,481.91 cross point August 2018 3

One way we do this at Cross Point is through our Prayer Chain. The prayer chain is a group of people who have opted in to receive prayer requests. When an urgent prayer request is received, it is sent to this group using our church notification system. Each member then receives the request so they can begin praying for the need. Individuals who would like to be added to the prayer chain should contact Justin Davis in the church office at (304) 252-6684. To submit a prayer request, follow this procedure: Monday-Thursday 9:00a.m. 3:00p.m.: Call the church office at: (304) 252-6684. All other times, call Justin Davis at (304) 575-2363. If no answer, leave a message and Justin will put it on the prayer chain as soon as possible. Rent A Youth Is there a job on your to do list that you just don t have time or you don t want to do? Why not rent one of our youth to help with your chores? Money raised from Rent A Youth helps our youth attend various youth activities. If you are interested in renting one or more of our youth, see Pastor Rob. Don t Throw Away Those Cans! The youth ministry has been collecting aluminum cans to be recycled to raise money to support youth activities. You can drop off your aluminum cans at the church during office hours (Monday Thursday 9AM -3PM). There is a collection can near the gym. Help support our youth and save our environment!
