Chaplain s Corner Happy New Year 8 HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope that you have had a great holiday season and a safe beginning to 2018. Where did 2017 go off to? It went by so incredibly fast. And it sure has been a bag of mixed blessings; filled with highs and lows. I spent a lot of time reflecting on this past year. The high points for me was being asked to sit for my ordination exams at seminary (before finishing my first classes), ordination to the priesthood with the Episcopal Church, my son Eric s marriage to Madison, and Trayvon and Kejon living with us for their schooling (2 teenaged boys my wife and I have been mentoring). There were low points as well; the death of several friends, bed bug and termite infestations, to name a few. But even the low points when viewed in a positive light will reveal blessings. For instance, had it not been for the bed bug infestation, we would not have discovered the termites. And as a friend and a member of clergy, I was privileged and humbled to be with my friends and their families providing love, comfort, and support as they transitioned from this world. One thing for certain is that 2017 has been a busy and frantic year. I can t wait to see what 2018 will bring. My prayer for all of us this year: May today there be peace within. May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be. May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith. May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you. May you be confident knowing you are a child of God. Let this presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul. freedom to sing, dance, praise and love. It is there for each and every one of us. -St. Thèrése of Lisieux and St. Theresa of Avila
