Psalm 41:1 The holiday season is upon us and what better time to count our blessings. We have all been blessed far above what we deserve. Not only do we have the gift of eternal life but we have the daily blessings and comforts of warm homes and food to eat. As we thank God for all of our blessings, we also need to look for ways to spread God s love through caring for those less fortunate than ourselves. Here at WEE we take this responsibility seriously. For that reason for the past 14 years, every November we collect food and personal items to donate to the Manna House to be distributed to the poor and needy. Participation in WEE s efforts to help Huntsville s needy is strictly optional, but I would love to see every child in school take part in some way. It is never too early to foster compassion in our children for those who are less fortunate. Consider letting your child do chores or helping around the house to earn money that they in turn will use to purchase items to donate. Opportunities abound for children to help make a difference in someone s life, even in a small way like purchasing a can of soup for someone who is hungry. Continued...
From the Director Continued Our November bulletin board is all set up with our WEE Give Turkey. However right now he has no feathers. Every time a student brings in an item to donate a feather with his/her name on it will be placed on Mr. Turkey. We are hoping to have a feather-filled turkey by the end of the month. Also, as a fun incentive this year along with our feathers we will be keeping track of each child s donations for a fun contest. For every item brought in, the child's name will go into a drawing to Pie the Principal during Chapel. So, if a child brings in 10 items, they will receive 10 entries into the drawing. The names of 3 children will be drawn at our Nov. 30th Pie the Principal. In addition, the class with the highest number of donations will earn a pizza party for lunch (date TBD). I am hoping to set a new record for donations! Here is a list of suggested items to donate: Canned soup Canned vegetables Canned meat Canned fruit Macaroni and Cheese Peanut Butter Stuffing mix Hygiene Items - Toilet paper is a huge need, toothpaste and soap Any non-perishable food item Thank you in advance for teaching your children to be compassionate and giving and for making a difference in the lives of many here in our community. Blessings, Ashley Scott 2
Mrs. Hodge Father, we thank Thee, For this new morning with its light, Father, we thank Thee, For the rest and shelter of the night, Father, we thank Thee, For health and food, for love and friends, For everything Thy goodness sends, Father in heaven, we thank Thee. -Ralph Waldo Emerson A teacher asks a student excitedly, What animal says, gobble, gobble? The student proudly replies, Pac-Man! We will get back to the real reason for Thanksgiving. Why do we eat turkey? Who are pilgrims? Why do we call it Thanksgiving? Most importantly, we will discuss to Whom we owe all of our blessings. In math, we will learn numbers 1-20 and their value and will practice writing them. We will continue to review patterns, graphing, counting, estimating and the calendar. We will continue working on sight words and blending sounds. Have a blessed Thanksgiving with family and friends! Mrs. Durham - 3 year old class Give Thanks to the Lord for He is good! His Love endures forever. We are thankful that the harvest season is upon us once again: a time for celebrating the good things God has given us. We will be focusing on many different harvest activities this month. Also, have you seen the silly scarecrows? They may be hiding in the leaves, or they could be in the big haystack beside the barn. There is no telling where we may find them, but I am sure that we will run into several fun adventures on our search. While we are having fun with the silly scarecrow, we will also be talking about being thankful for all we have been given. We are so thankful for each and every one of our families. We consider it an honor to be able to take part in the lives of your children. We are thankful for all that God has blessed us with here in the Owl room. Jennifer Wilson - Speech Pathologist A period of stuttering sometime during the 3-year-old year is normal. The stuttering may include repeating part or whole words. Try not to react with alarm in order to help your child move through this time. A parent should: 1) Reassure the child that they are listening and give eye contact. 2) Give the child his/her own time to talk - not competing with siblings. 3) Remove distractions, such as TV, while listening. 4) Refrain from finishing their sentences or saying slow down. Seek the help of a Speech Pathologist if the stuttering persistents for more than three months, the child begins to avoid talking, or if it includes other body movements such as facial or limb twitches. 5
