N E W S L E T T E R Love and Compassion Ministries In the Name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit Februa ry 1, 2013 In The Year o f Ou r Lord Valentine s Day How does love fit in with Valentine s Day? I would think first that we would need to understand what the word Love really means when used in reference with a person, place, or thing. According to the Webster dictionary the word love has several meanings such as; a deep and tender affection for an attachment or devotion to another person or persons, secondly to be fond of or desire, or an expression of one s love or affection, a feeling of brotherhood and good will toward other people, or finally a strong liking or interest in something such as music, sports, or helping others in need. I say this with confidence that you don t need to be told what love means but maybe we all just need to make it our priority again, after all, isn t love really an expression we display followed by our actions. For example, we fall in love with someone and ask them to marry us or, if it is our children, we hug and kiss them gently to show this affection, if we love the car or dog, we do everything we can to purchase it, and if we love playing guitar, football, or shopping don t we all make an effort to show it or have it. I truly understand this tradition and the importance of this day and rather enjoy this day with the ones I truly love also. But I want to propose a question to you, my friends, about this day when most people seem to go to extreme levels to show more love for their loved ones on this day then on any other day. Why is it that this designated day has such an influence on us, more than any other day? Does this mean I love my loved ones more on Valentine s Day than on any other day during the year? No, I am sure this is not the case but it appears to be this way for most people and I am sure this has been somewhat attributed to our commercialized and social media that communicates that if you don t go to extreme and get the best item or gift, your loved ones will think you may love them less. Or, can the media, advertise- (Continued on page 2) Volume 7, Iss ue 12 Inside This Issue Story: Page VALENTINE S DAY CONTINUED 2 END TIMES & TIFFANY FOX 3 STREET OUTREACH & HOME- LESS MINISTRIES & DRUG PROGRAM FIFTEEN THINGS 5 HUMAN TRAFFICKING 6 LETTER FROM PRESIDENT 7 PRAYER 8 This is a monthly publication produced by LCM. Volume 8, Iss ue 1 Page 2 (Continued from page 1) ments, and your peers who constantly influence your personality, value system, or social stature be the blame? We can never be completely sure, but if we would open our hearts to seek the counsel of Jesus on the matter of love and pray, I believe that Jesus would give us clarity on his view of Love. Jesus talks in the Bible about love so many times I lost count. But a scripture that comes to mind is John 3:16 that reads, For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him. I know everyone knows John 3:16 very well but have you truly read it slowly and understood what it truly means. I don t read anywhere in that verse that says only certain people will be saved. I don t read where if you are viewed as a prisoner, drug or alcohol addict, homeless, troubled youth, or on the streets, that Jesus will forget about you. It also states in the bible, Ephesians 1:4 even before God made the world he loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. I bring this to your attention, dear friends, because February of 2013 swiftly approaches us and we can t forget one of the most special occasions of the year and because it is our chance to show the ones we love the most, how we feel. As people with deep emotions, we frantically worry about what to get our special loved one for Valentine s Day. Usually we think of the most popular or traditional gifts to give them, which is flowers, candy, or jewelry, or a combination of all of them. After we decide what we are going to get them we usually then stress about whether they will be pleased with these gifts, by asking ourselves if the flowers are still fresh, if the candy is their favorite, or if the jewelry will be the ultimate statement of ones love to them. Through past experience as people we also have found that this day usually is a day of lots of weddings going on. If not, it tends to lead a lot of people to get engaged or maybe just loved ones growing closer to one another. I say this to tell you that our time on this earth gets shorter and shorter and I know we all have busy lives and have little time to love others besides our own family and friends. We here at Love and Compassion Ministries want to be that love that less fortunate people need to experience and be surrounded by, but we need all of you to stand in the gap and show your love for them by praying for LCM and / or supporting us through giving so these lives can also feel the love of Jesus and feel love from the people God has placed in their lives. I want to close by expressing how much we love each and everyone of you that gives us your time and prayers and would truly like to ask you all to pray for Love and Compassion Ministries and myself. I cannot express that there is no greater feeling spiritually than when I know God is using us through your prayers and support and want you to know again, WE LOVE YOU ALL! Happy Valentine s Day! Thanks! Love And Compassion Ministries Board of Directors wishes to introduce our newest staff member, Tiffany Fox. Please pray for her as she takes on the position of office manager. This is not the easiest job one can possess. She is very wise, energetic, polite, well educated, has wonderful computer skills and loves her work. She is a team member that cares about people and you can see that she loves the Lord in all she does. We believe that God has brought Miss. Fox to us, for she brings to the ministry all the qualifications that this job neens to have. She will be working with all the board members, ministry directors, the advisory board, the president and of course, our clients. We have been praying for years for someone like Tiffany. Now we pray that our Lord will provide the funds to keep her on the team. God Bless us All.

Volume 8, Iss ue 1 Page 4 STREET OUT REACH MINISTRY Street Watch Ministries and Love and Compassion Ministries have joined together to reach the lost of this world. On the last Friday of each month we invite street people of Lee County to come and hear a inspirational sermon, enjoy a wonderful meal and receive clothing and hygiene items. As the cold weather approaches we hope to be able to give out blankets and coats as well. Many are coming to the Lord through this ministry. If you would like to participate or donate to this cause, please contact Miss. Fox at 239-574-5683. HOMELESS MINISTRY Love and Compassion Ministries has started working closely with the City of Cape Coral Police Department in order to help the homeless find a place to get out of the cold. In the past the police have been known for destroying homeless camps and their goods. The police are now trying to be more considerate when it comes to helping them find a place that will be safe and out of the weather. Please pray that this relationship with City Police will grow and that we will be able to work together to help these that are in such need. Drug Program Ministry In more than 17 years I have never seen so many people on drugs. Satan has used many items to destroy our youth in the past, but drugs are by far the more deadly items he has used before. Today the drug program ministry has fourteen people that we are attempting to get into a program. Many are in jail waiting trial and we are having major problems trying to work with the public defender s office. Many of the attorneys will not return our calls or emails but, God still amazes me when He makes a way for someone to get into a drug program rather than the court system having to sentence them to prison time. Praise The Lord for many are receiving Christ as their Savior. When they come out of the drug program they are a new creation. Please pray for these and for us.

Volume 8, Iss ue 1 Page 5 Fifteen Things You Probably Never Knew or Thought About At least 5 people in this world love you so much they would die for you. At least 15 people in this world love you in some way. The only reason anyone would ever hate you is because they want to be just like you. A smile from you can bring happiness to anyone, even if they don't like you. Every night, SOMEONE thinks about you before they go to sleep. You mean the world to someone. If not for you, someone may not be living. You are special and unique. Someone that you don't even know loves you. When you make the biggest mistake ever, something good comes from it. When you think the world has turned its back on you, take a look: you most likely turned your back on the world. When you think you have no chance of getting what you want, you probably won't get it, but if you believe in yourself, sooner or later, you will get it. Always remember the compliments you received. Forget about the rude remarks. Always tell someone how you feel about them; you will feel much better when they know. If you have a great friend, take the time to let them know that they are great. A Minute They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but then an entire life to forget them. Take the time... to live and love.

Volume 8, Iss ue 1 Page 6 Human trafficking involves the commercial exchange and exploitation of humans including involuntary labor, forced prostitution and pornography, servitude and debt bondage. Human trafficking is a growing problem in America, second to the illegal drug trade. Florida has been identified as having one of the highest incidences of human trafficking in the country. The Florida Coalition Against Human Trafficking helps victims by working closely with service providers to find emergency housing, treat medical and psychological issues and provide other services as needed to help these individuals restore their lives and freedom. Learn how you can safely help identify potential victims of human trafficking by calling or emailing: Doug Burness - Outreach Coordinator P.O Box 2948 Clearwater, FL 33757-2948 Email: pastorburness@gmail.com Phone number: 239-690-6393 1 Cor. 13:3-10 MSG If I give everything I owe to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but don t love, I ve gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do. I m bankrupt without love. Love never gives up. Love cares more for others than for self. Love doesn t want what it doesn t have. Love doesn t strut. Mary Beth Blake

Volume 8, Iss ue 1 Page 7 Friends and Partners, We, the Church, are to be sanctified (set apart) by Christ. As non-christians look upon us, they should see Christ that lives within us. We are to live in this world, but not be a part of this world. When we dress, talk, play music, watch movies, etc. as the world does, I am sure it is grieving the Lord. In the last thirty years of my life I have heard of not only Christians, but pastors that have done ungodly things that exposed themselves to the devil s will. All these people knew right from wrong, but they started compromising their beliefs and biblical laws. They allowed satan to trap them into believing that it would be so good, not hurt anyone and that no one would ever find out. I have a very good friend, Pastor Joe Hanshaw, that has a great little saying that is so true. Sin will take you further than you want to go, will keep you longer than you want, and cost you more than you want to pay. Today, there are many Churches that compromise on biblical authority. We do not worship the Bible but we do worship the One who accurately and authoritatively has given us His word, the Bible. Just as Jesus is faultless, the written word is faultless! There is therefore no difference between Jesus' authority and Biblical authority. The Bible is God's message to mankind written in words. Let us not dishonor Jesus by doubting and disobeying His authoritative word. All Christians should be in submission to God's final authority. There are some people that want an amoral society that accepts, and even welcomes, foul language, flouting social custom, abortion, same-sex marriage, and an endless list of things designed to destroy our biblical truths in order to get an individual to agree with their views or ways. Many believe that we must compromise and accept change to our moral beliefs. We as Christians must abide by our Lord s code of ethics, especially when it comes to the internet. The Internet is nothing less than earthshaking. Communications are instantaneous and information is so abundant. Christians and non-christians are coming to the internet by the billions every day. In some ways, the internet is a world of its own. Things are not always what they appear. Because of this there are some dangers that are not readily apparent, especially to the novice user. There are so many that wish to take advantage of you and harm you. As Christians we need to set boundaries for ourselves when it comes to the internet, but we also need to use this tool to reach the unsaved. That is why we have decided to start a Facebook Page. Copy and paste this link into your search bar to get there: (http://www.facebook.com/pages/love-and-compassion-ministries/465527413489167) or you can get lots of information at our web site at (LoveCompassion.com). Please be careful to not visit websites that would compromise your life in Christ. Take care that your written communications reflect Christ in your life and guard your time to assure that your time online is kept in proper balance with the rest of your life and visit us on line every once in a while. You will find some exciting things there! In the Presence of our Lord, Ron Willis Ron Willis, President Love and Compassion Ministries, Inc.
