Galatians 2:16-19.. knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified. But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is Christ therefore a minister of sin? Certainly not! For if I build again those things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor. For I through the law died to the law that I might live to God. NKJV

Living By The Law Versus Grace The law came by Moses but grace and truth through Christ Jesus. Jesus demonstrated how effective living by grace can be: to do what flesh cannot do itself, even His flesh. Jesus said, The son can do nothing of himself. Everything he did, he did by the empowerment of the Spirit of God in him, and it was by the empowering Spirit that he was able to keep the law.

I Am Dead To The Law For I through the law died to the law that I might live to God. Galatians 2:19 Once you ve sinned, you have no hope of ever being saved by doing right through your flesh or human ability. The primary meaning for the words forgive and forgiveness in GK and Hebrew means to be pardoned, however, that does not eliminate or wipe clean your record

Forgiveness Forgiveness (being pardoned) simply relieves me of the penalty of my crime because the soul that sinneth shall surely die. It does not expunge my record. God cannot forgive us just because He feels like it. His word has to be satisfied: someone has to die for the sin. His paying the penalty for sin led to righteousness and is given to us as a gift. Those who cannot accept forgiveness, and are determined to work our way to heaven by doing right, frustrate the grace of God.

Grace Is A Free Gift Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned. 15 But the free gift is not like the offense. For if by the one man s offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many. 18 Therefore, as through one man s offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man s righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life.

Grace Romans 5:19 For as by one man s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man s obedience many will be made righteous. 20 Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more, 21 so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Are You Living In Grace? Romans 6:1-13 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? 2 Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? 3 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? 4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection,

Are You Living In His Grace? 6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be destroyed that henceforth we should not serve sin. 7 For he that is dead is free from sin. 8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, 9 knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death has no more dominion over Him. 10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. 11 Likewise reckon you also yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God through Christ Jesus our Lord.

Living In His Grace 12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. 13 Neither yield your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. Yield means you allow the Spirit of God, or the Spirit of Grace in you, to enable you to do what you cannot do yourself.

Living By The Spirit Of Grace The only way that grace or the operation of the Spirit of God is going to empower you to do the Word of God, is if you YIELD.. that means you/; give up, you give in, you give over, you let go, you stop resisting, you stop trying to do it, and you give all control to Him and let Him do it. There is nothing in the Bible that says you can live however you want because of Grace.

Legalism Versus Yielding Legalism is trying to obey God through your ability. Having begun in the Spirit, are you now made perfect by the flesh? Galatians 3:3 You didn t get saved by the flesh, you couldn t forgive yourself by the flesh, you couldn t give yourself the Holy Ghost, you had to yield yourself every step of the way. Trying instead of Yielding! The beauty of crucifying the old man, is so that the new man can live.

Law Workers Or Grace Yielders If I learn to be dead to me and yield myself to God and His spirit, who is the author of the law, He will live the law through me Ezekiel 36:27 - I will put my spirit within you and cause you to walk in my statutes and keep my judgments and do them. That s the New Covenant. You cannot keep the law or do right through your flesh.

Pride Pride says, I ll do it when I m right with God. Pride says, I m not worthy. Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. I have to yield myself to Him fully.

Grace Desires To Work In Us For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. Philippians 2:13 He enables me to do those things which are pleasing to Him, but if I am in the flesh, it s impossible to please Him. If I am trusting in my ability and strength to do right, I am in the flesh and cannot please God.

Trying Vs Yielding Romans 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. Romans 8:8-11 See Next >

Trying: Works Of The Flesh Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. Rom 8:12-13

Galatians 2:17-19 But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid. For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor. For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.

Galatians 3:10-13 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, the just shall live by faith. And the law is not of faith: but, the man that doeth them shall live in them. Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

What Was The Cross? Galatians 3:13..being made a curse for us? What? He couldn t be under the curse of the law because He never sinned, so He had to do something that was cursed.. Cursed is every man that hangeth on a tree. He endured the curse of the cross and it was the result of Him being made a curse for us, that our sins could be paid for, because God allowed one curse to stand as a substitute for another curse; and by being cursed by hanging on a tree, his innocent death substituted for my guilt.

His Death - Our Death If He saves anybody on their own merit, then He just denigrated and removed all the importance of the cross. Galatians 3:14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. His purpose of the cross was to provide you and I the means to receive the Holy Spirit; the Spirit of Grace; the Spirit of empowerment; to enable us to deal with our present and our future.

His Burial - Our Burial We are learning to yield our members to His righteousness. You simply have to let the Lord help you and quit trying and trusting in you to do right. For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God. Galatians 2:19 For us, life is the culmination of death to the old man, who we bury with Christ in baptism, which prepared the way for Him to be manifested in us through His Spirit in us.

After Death A Resurrection If I don t go through the process of dying out to my old nature (the old man) and cause him to be buried with Christ once and for all, and receive the Spirit of life, I cannot live the New Covenant life. The preaching of repentance and baptism prepares the way for the Spirit to live. The problem is we want to make our own decisions and run our own lives. We want to decide what s right and wrong. Can we really presume our thoughts and ways are greater than His? Lucifer wanted total control; no accountability.

Spiritual Grace In spiritual places God is the one who s doing the living and the working. Galatians 2:20-21 Sums it up: I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. 21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness comes by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

Frustrating Gods Grace If we re trying hard to do right, we make Christ s death vain and worthless. Why do we do that? So that we don t have to yield. That is iniquity. When I think or do things I shouldn t, those are symptoms of iniquity. So I confess my iniquity. They re the result of my trying to be in control. None of that would ve happened if I hadn t un-yielded myself. The problem is, I took over. I yield so that the Spirit of God can do through me.

My Death, My Burial, His Resurrection I yield to Him fully. I say yes, Lord, yes to your will and to your way Flesh can t cause flesh to yield. Flesh can t enable flesh to yield. It s learning to yield to the His Spirit of Grace and righteousness.

Grace The grace of God is the action of the Spirit of God upon the soul, empowering and enabling you to do what you cannot do yourself. Thayer s Lexicon - That s a Greek definition. It s not just unmerited favor. My sin is not because I failed to perform properly. My sin is because I failed to yield. If I do right I cannot boast in that, because the only reason I did anything that pleases God was because I yielded to God and He did it.

Grace By Yielding to His Spirit True thanksgiving is the product of realizing that without Him, I can do nothing.
