Love One Another, Constantly The Episcopal Motto of Archbishop Michael J. Sheehan Archbishop of Santa Fe

Our Lady of the Annunciation Parish 2532 Vermont NE Albuquerque, New Mexico 87110 505-298-7553 September 27, 2013 Dear Friends in Christ, Greetings on the Feast of St. Vincent de Paul! As we do each year, I am happy to report to the parish the outcome of our just completed Fiscal Year, for both the Parish and the School. Each has its own operating budget assuring you the clearest picture we can give. Jesus tells His disciples, I have called you friends, because I have told you everything I have heard from my Father. (Jn 15:15) My intent is that you be given a clear picture of our financial year. As always, I am so grateful to you for your unwavering generosity to the Church Universal, our Archdiocese and our Parish. Thank you for your support and commitment which allow for the good works done in your name. Much has changed in this past year as we journeyed in our Year of Faith proclaimed by Pope Benedict XVI, but soon to be closed by his successor Pope Francis. Throughout the Church we welcome our new Holy Father and his engagement with the people he has been chosen to lead. Let us give thanks to God for His gift of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI along with the Lord s assurance of our future in faith with Pope Francis. Within the same passage from John 15 when Jesus explains his friendship with us, He instructs us to go and bear fruit that will remain (Jn 15:16) and closes with the non-negotiable, This I command you: love one another. (Jn 15:17) It is my hope that you will find the vineyard of the Lord being well tended and bearing much good fruit, through change and what remains the same. Let us take the invitation of the Lord s friendship and honor Him by following His command. By this command we do what we do, so as to Love One Another. Yours in Christ, Msgr. Bennett J. Voorhies Pastor

Annunciation School was blessed with increased enrollment for the School Year 2013-14. Our school welcomed 77 new students from 48 families to our school family in school year 2013-14. The school follows the Fiscal Year of the parish. As a parish, we support our school with an additional subsidy up to $200,000.00 to help make Catholic Education more available to those who attend. We are grateful to all our parishioners who willingly contribute to the subsidy through their regular contribution. On your behalf and by your generosity, our St. Vincent de Paul Society is able to help those who find it difficult to make ends meet on an emergency basis. This year you provided in the St. Vincent de Paul envelopes $62,121.94. This past year we faced many challenges together and by the Grace of God we were able to respond to the needs of others outside our parish boundaries. These free will gifts added to our regular support for rural parishes totaled $180,444.20 (Archdiocese Special Collections, Parish Special Collections, Donations to Other Parishes). As we strive to be a parish that gives from our table not from our leftovers, it is your willingness to help that allows us to do so. Thank you! Our Community of Faith continues to grow: for this we give special thanks to God for the blessing of these new parishioners who, along with those already a part of our family of faith, make up the single greatest resource we enjoy. This year 98 families joined our parish, bringing our registered parish families to over 1950, of whom 1736 are envelope users. You are the light of the world... your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father. Matthew 5:14-16 Campaign Goal Pledge Actual Campaign 2012 (January-December 2012) 12 months $145,000.00 $283,579.49 $279,590.49 Campaign 2013 (January-June 2013) 6 months $143,000.00 $267,894.31 $208,706.10 We are blessed as a parish with very strong commitment to the ACA. Each year every parish is assigned a goal of funds which need to be raised for the support of Archdiocesan Ministries. Revenue received above our goal is returned to the parish in the form of a rebate. This successful program has allowed our parish many opportunities to designate and complete capital improvement projects at the parish level. The ACA is operated on an annual basis, January 1-December 31, while our ordinary budget cycle is a fiscal one, July1-June 30. While we count on the proceeds from the ACA, we are equally as proud of the level of participation among our faith family. Each month, we report to you our progress as the Appeal moves from goal to rebate by your goodness. Completion of any campaign appeal comes at mid year of our budget cycle and, unlike our ordinary revenue from the Sunday collection, proceeds from the rebate are tax free for use in the parish. Your ongoing help is needed in the number of families participating in the ACA. Presently only one-third of our parish family contributes to this worthy outreach. Please consider your role in supporting the work of our Archdiocese, thank you. As a faith

family, we have committed to using the rebate portion of our ACA goal to fund our five-year commitment to the legal refugee program of Catholic Charities: $60,000.00 per year for 5 years (2011, 2012) making our total gift $300,000.00 toward this most worthy goal. Prayer for Generous Hearts Loving God, you taught us from of old that our hearts cannot be filled with the things of this world. Give us generous hearts, so that we may release our hold on things of this world and share what you have given us with those who are in need of our help. We ask for your abundant Spirit to come over us and all the world. We make our prayer through Jesus Christ, our Lord and brother. Amen. Please remember us in your Estate Planning. Our legal name is Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church or Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic School. Many thanks! *This year marks our first as a separately incorporated entity.

Prayer for Christian Unity Open our hearts O Jesus Christ, to share more perfectly in your prayer to the Father that we may be one, so that as we journey together we may draw closer to each other. Send your Spirit to empower and challenge us to answer your call to unity. Show us what your Father, the God of Life, requires of us, and lead us to justice, peace and oneness in your name, our Lord, with the Father and the Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen!
