First I AM of Lent Ash Wednesday, February 14, 2018 I AM Exodus 3:13-14 and John 8:48-58 Scriptures: Exodus 3:13-14 - Moses said to God, Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, The God of your fathers has sent me to you, and they ask me, What is his name? Then what shall I tell them? God said to Moses, I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: I AM has sent me to you. Ex. 6:3, 15:3; Ps. 72:17, 135:13; Jn. 8:58; Acts 3:13; Rev. 1:8, 4:8 What do you have that cannot be reduced to ashes? First I AM of Lent Thursday, February 15, 2018 I AM Exodus 3:13-14 and John 8:48-58 Scriptures: John 8:48-51 - The Jews answered him, Aren t we right in saying that you are a Samaritan and demon-possessed? I am not possessed by a demon, said Jesus, but I honor my Father and you dishonor me. I am not seeking glory for myself; but there is one who seeks it, and he is the judge. Very truly I tell you, whoever obeys my word will never see death. Matt. 10:5; Jn. 5:24, 41; Jn. 6:40, 47, 68; Jn. 11:25-25 In what areas of your life are you placing your significance?

First I AM of Lent Friday, February 16, 2018 I AM Exodus 3:13-14 and John 8:48-58 Scriptures: John 8:52-54 - At this they exclaimed, Now we know that you are demon-possessed! Abraham died and so did the prophets, yet you say that whoever obeys your word will never taste death. Are you greater than our father Abraham? He died, and so did the prophets. Who do you think you are? Jesus replied, If I glorify myself, my glory means nothing. My Father, whom you claim as your God, is the one who glorifies me. Mark 9:1; John 4:12, 16:13-15, 17:1,5, Heb. 2:9 Do you feel you are living with a purpose to your life? Can God identify with your challenges? First I AM of Lent Saturday, February 17, 2018 I AM Exodus 3:13-14 and John 8:48-58 Scriptures: John 8:55-58 - Though you do not know him, I know him. If I said I did not, I would be a liar like you, but I do know him and obey his word. Your father Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day; he saw it and was glad. You are not yet fifty years old, they said to him, and you have seen Abraham! Very truly I tell you, Jesus answered, before Abraham was born, I am! Gen. 12:2-3; Isa. 41:4, 43:10, 48:12, 52:6; Jn. 1:2, 7:28-29, 17:5, 24 Getting to know God means getting to know ourselves. Who are you? What describes you?

First I AM of Lent Sunday, February 18, 2018 I AM Exodus 3:13-14 and John 8:48-58 Sermon Notes: Second I AM of Lent Monday, February 19, 2018 I AM the Light of the World John 8:12-20 Scriptures: John 8:12 - When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. Gen. 1:1-3; Isaiah 9:2; Isaiah 49:6; Acts 13:47; Revelations 22:5 How can Jesus be your light in this world? Observation: What did you learn about Jesus? Application: How does today s Scripture lesson apply to your life? : For Whom or What does today s Scripture message encourage you to pray?

Second I AM of Lent Tuesday, February 20, 2018 I AM the Light of the World John 8:12-20 Scriptures: John 8:12 - When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. Exodus 13:21-22; Psalm 27:1; Psalm 119:105 What does it feel like to walk in darkness? How has Jesus been a light for you there? Second I AM of Lent Wednesday, February 21, 2018 I AM the Light of the World John 8:12-20 Scriptures: John 8:12 - When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. John 7:1-3, 10-11, 14-15; Deuteronomy 16:13-16 How is the dwelling in booths in the wilderness like your life in the world today?

Second I AM of Lent Thursday, February 22, 2018 I AM the Light of the World John 8:12-20 Scriptures: John 8:13-14 - The Pharisees challenged him, Here you are, appearing as your own witness; your testimony is not valid. Jesus answered, Even if I testify on my own behalf, my testimony is valid, for I know where I came from and where I am going. But you have no idea where I come from or where I am going. Deuteronomy 17:6, 19:15; John 5:19-30, 36-38; John 8:27-28 Why do you believe Jesus came from the father? Second I AM of Lent Friday, February 23, 2018 I AM the Light of the World John 8:12-20 Scriptures: John 8:15-18 - You judge by human standards; I pass judgment on no one. But if I do judge, my decisions are true, because I am not alone. I stand with the Father, who sent me. In your own Law it is written that the testimony of two witnesses is true. I am one who testifies for myself; my other witness is the Father, who sent me. John 5:27; John 8:23-29, 38, 54-55; John 9:39 What in you needs to be changed or brought into the light?

Second I AM of Lent Saturday, February 24, 2018 I AM the Light of the World John 8:12-20 Scriptures: John 8:19-20 - Then they asked him, Where is your father? You do not know me or my Father, Jesus replied. If you knew me, you would know my Father also. He spoke these words while teaching in the temple courts near the place where the offerings were put. Yet no one seized him, because his hour had not yet come. Second I AM of Lent Sunday, February 25, 2018 I AM the Light of the World John 8:12-20 Sermon Notes: Mark 6:3; Luke 4:22; John 8:23-29, 38, 54-55; John 17:25 Christ is a source of light and gives you direction, one step at a time. What is your next step? Observation: What did you learn about Jesus? Application: How does today s Scripture lesson apply to your life? : For Whom or What does today s Scripture message encourage you to pray?

Third I AM of Lent Monday, February 26, 2018 I AM the Bread of Life John 6:25-59 Scriptures: John 6:25-27 - When they found him on the other side of the lake, they asked him, Rabbi, when did you get here? Jesus answered, Very truly I tell you, you are looking for me, not because you saw the signs I performed but because you ate the loaves and had your fill. Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him God the Father has placed his seal of approval. Isaiah 55:2; John 2:11, 4:14; 2 Cor. 1:21-22; Eph. 1:13; 2 Tim. 2:19 What is your daily spiritual diet (healthy food, junk food, same old reheated food)? Third I AM of Lent Tuesday, February 27, 2018 I AM the Bread of Life John 6:25-59 Scriptures: John 6:28-32 - Then they asked him, What must we do to do the works God requires? Jesus answered, The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent. So they asked him, What sign then will you give that we may see it and believe you? What will you do? Our ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written: He gave them bread from heaven to eat. Jesus said to them, Very truly I tell you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. Ex. 16:4, 15; Num. 11:7-9; Ps. 78:24; Matt. 12:38; John 3:17; 1 John 3:23 Are you asking God for signs or miracles in order to follow him?

Third I AM of Lent Wednesday, February 28, 2018 I AM the Bread of Life John 6:25-59 Scriptures: John 6:33-35 - For the bread of God is the bread that comes down from heaven and gives life to the world. Sir, they said, always give us this bread. Then Jesus declared, I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. Ex. 3:14; John 4:10-15; John 7:37-38 Do you find your self-esteem in who God made you to be, or in the things this world says make us important or special? Third I AM of Lent Thursday, March 1, 2018 I AM the Bread of Life John 6:25-59 Scriptures: John 6:36-40 - But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe. All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. John 3:15-16, 4:34, 10:28, 17:2, 24 What does Jesus promise you if you come to him in faith for spiritual nourishment? Do you believe him?

Third I AM of Lent Friday, March 2, 2018 I AM the Bread of Life John 6:25-59 Scriptures: John 6:41-47 - At this the Jews there began to grumble about him because he said, I am the bread that came down from heaven. They said, Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How can he now say, I came down from heaven? Stop grumbling among yourselves, Jesus answered. No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day. It is written in the Prophets: They will all be taught by God. Everyone who has heard the Father and learned from him comes to me. No one has seen the Father except the one who is from God; only he has seen the Father. Very truly I tell you, the one who believes has eternal life. Isaiah 54:13; Jer. 31:33-34; John 1:18, 5:37, 7:27-29; Heb. 8:10-11 What does it mean to go from expecting to accepting? Do you believe God is greater than anything you will face? Third I AM of Lent Saturday, March 3, 2018 I AM the Bread of Life John 6:25-59 Scriptures: John 6:48-59 - I am the bread of life. Your ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness, yet they died. But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which anyone may eat and not die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. Then the Jews began to argue sharply among themselves, How can this man give us his flesh to eat? Jesus said to them, Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.... Lk. 22:19; Jn. 3:36, 5:26, 6:31, 9:16, 10:19; I Jn. 3:24, 4:15; Heb. 10:10 What does Jesus want you to conclude about who he is?

Third I AM of Lent Sunday, March 4, 2018 I AM the Bread of Life John 6:25-29 Fourth I AM of Lent Monday, March 5, 2018 I AM the Good Shepherd John 10:1-18 and Psalm 23 Sermon Notes: Scriptures: Psalm 23 Psalm 80:1; Isaiah 40:11; Jeremiah 23:1-4; Ezekiel 34:14-15; John 10:11; Philippians 4:19; Revelation 7:7 Observation: What did you learn about Jesus? Have you experienced Jesus Christ as a Good Shepherd in your life? Application: How does today s Scripture lesson apply to your life? : For Whom or What does today s Scripture message encourage you to pray?

Fourth I AM of Lent Tuesday, March 6, 2018 I AM the Good Shepherd John 10:1-18 and Psalm 23 Scriptures: John 10:1-4 - Very truly I tell you Pharisees, anyone who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber. The one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. Numbers 27:15-17; Jn. 6:39, 39, 44, 64-65; Jn. 10:26-29, 17:9, 24 Are you following Jesus voice? How is that changing your life? Fourth I AM of Lent Wednesday, March 7, 2018 I AM the Good Shepherd John 10:1-18 and Psalm 23 Scriptures: John 10:5-8 - But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger s voice. Jesus used this figure of speech, but the Pharisees did not understand what he was telling them. Therefore, Jesus said again, Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. All who have come before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep have not listened to them. Psalm 118:20; Jeremiah 23:1-2; Acts 5:36-39 What responsibilities are placed on you as a sheep? To whom are you listening?

Fourth I AM of Lent Thursday, March 8, 2018 I AM the Good Shepherd John 10:1-18 and Psalm 23 Scriptures: John 10:9-11 - I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. 1 Sam. 17:34-37; Ezekiel 34:11-16, 23; 1 Pet. 5:4; 1 Jn. 3:16; Rev. 7:17 Thinking of a gate as Jesus protection, how has Jesus invested in you? Fourth I AM of Lent Friday, March 9, 2018 I AM the Good Shepherd John 10:1-18 and Psalm 23 Scriptures: John 10:12-14 - The hired hand is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it. The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep. I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me Isaiah 40:11; Zechariah 11:16, 17; John 15:13 Even with the shepherd watching, sheep can wander off. In what areas have you left the safety of Jesus s care?

Fourth I AM of Lent Saturday, March 10, 2018 I AM the Good Shepherd John 10:1-18 and Psalm 23 Scriptures: John 10:15-18 - just as the Father knows me and I know the Father and I lay down my life for the sheep. I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd. The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life only to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father. Fourth I AM of Lent Sunday, March 11, 2018 I AM the Good Shepherd John 10:1-18 and Psalm 23 Sermon Notes: Isa. 56:8; Eze. 37:24; Matt. 11:27; Jn 11:52, 15:10; Acts 4:27-28; Phil. 2:8 How can this passage help you when you (or a friend) struggle with accepting Jesus love? Observation: What did you learn about Jesus? Application: How does today s Scripture lesson apply to your life? : For Whom or What does today s Scripture message encourage you to pray?

Fifth I AM of Lent Monday, March 12, 2018 I AM the Way, the Truth and the Life John 14:1-14 Scriptures: John 14:1-4 - Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going. Isa. 26:3-4; Ps. 56:3-4; Lk. 16:9; Jn. 14:18, 23, 28; Rev. 22:1-5 Jesus words were meant to comfort the disciples how do they comfort you today? Fifth I AM of Lent Tuesday, March 13, 2018 I AM the Way, the Truth and the Life John 14:1-14 Scriptures: John 14:4-6 - You know the way to the place where I am going. Thomas said to him, Lord, we don t know where you are going, so how can we know the way? Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 11:16, 20:24-26; John 1:14, 3:31-36, 5:21, 26-27, 6:63, 68; John 11:25-26 Are you making Jesus your way? How does that look in your ordinary life?

Fifth I AM of Lent Wednesday, March 14, 2018 I AM the Way, the Truth and the Life John 14:1-14 Scriptures: John 14:6-7 - Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him. John 4:9-10, 13-14; John 8:19; John 10:9; John 11:25-26 How would you answer a person who thinks it is narrow and intolerant to believe that Jesus is the only way to God? Fifth I AM of Lent Thursday, March 15, 2018 I AM the Way, the Truth and the Life John 14:1-14 Scriptures: John 14:8-10 - Philip said, Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us. Jesus answered: Don t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, Show us the Father? Don t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. John 4:9-10, 13-14; John 8:19; John 10:9; John 11:25-26 What is Jesus saying about who he is?

Fifth I AM of Lent Friday, March 16, 2018 I AM the Way, the Truth and the Life John 14:1-14 Scriptures: John 14:11-12 - Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves.
