We are delighted that you have joined us for our worship service and hope you sense God s presence among us. Sunday School Offering Aug 2 - $21.50 Youth Ministry Sr. Youth - Sr. Youth Pool Party - Wednesday August 12 6:30-8:30 @ Jason and Josey Tiessen's House Sr. Youth returns this week with a pool party and food at the Tiessen home. All high school students (including new grade 9 students) are welcome to attend and bring a friend. Please RSVP Mike if you can make it and bring a snack to share. Jr. Youth - Jr. Youth Pool Party - Sunday August 16 1:30-3:00 @ Lisa & Herman Heide's House (590 Bruner Rd.) Jr. Youth returns next Sunday with a pool party at the Heide home. Verein 640 Verein 640 - August 9 at Shane Klassen s House This Verein is made up of young adults from a variety of faith backgrounds, most of whom are students who have returned home for the summer. The purpose of this Verein is to build deeper faith and deeper friendships in a safe environment where life s most important questions can be explored. Get Involved 2 Bike to Grow - Help us celebrate Mary and Sarah s amazing journey for Bike to Grow. Join us on Sept. 5 at the Leamington Marina for a family friendly BBQ. Doors open at 5 p.m. There is no charge but donations are welcomed. For those who wish you can ride with Sarah and Mary on the last portion of the ride from Waterloo to the Leamington Marina. If you are not able to attend this event you are welcome to donate to the cause. As a chapter our goal is to raise $50,000 towards the Bike to Grow goal of $150,000. Come help us celebrate. The Abner Martin Music Scholarship ($5,000 value last year) is awarded annually by Menno Singers to one student who: 1) will be enrolled in a full-time music major or minor program at the undergraduate or graduate level in 2015-16; 2) is affiliated with an MCEC congregation; and 3) has demonstrated involvement and proficiency in musical activities in church and community. Essex Cluster Mennonite Churches are invited to join with Peter Haresnape of Christian Peacemaker Teams (CPT) to visit the Anishinabe people of Aamjiwnaang First Nation for a "Toxic Tour." Persons of all ages from Essex Cluster Mennonite Churches are invited to participate in this event. For teachers and students, it will be an excellent opportunity to get a head start on the school year by learning about Aboriginal justice issues, which are now being incorporated into the Ontario public school curriculum at the intermediate and high school levels. It's also an important opportunity for persons of all ages to learn about the vital importance of caring for God's created world, and our Christian calling to partner with God in walking of people who are marginalized and oppressed (Psalm 103:6). This event is open to anyone who is interested. Brown and Tiessen have been engaged to do the renovation. Much of the initial work will be removal of the interior walls (blocks and 2x6 studs) and placing them in neat piles or carrying them out to a dumpster. There has been massive flooding in Myanmar and thousands are displaced. Landslides have destroyed areas of Chin State and large parts of Myanmar are cut off by the flooding. Remembering Our Neighbours It is good to remember that we are all part of the large Christian fellowship. This week, please pray for Wheatley Baptist Church.
