The Quester Fairfield Grace United Methodist Church October 2016 A Message from our Pastor: My Dearest Fairfield Grace Family and Friends, What is going on here lately? What new and exciting ministries are happening here? First of all, I will answer this question by saying, The BELIEVE campaign is running at FGUMC this year! It began on the fourth Sunday of September and is scheduled to finish on the fourth Sunday of May, 2017. It is a 30-weeklong campaign the whole church participates in to learn about what we believe (10 weeks), what we should do (10 weeks) and what we will become (10 weeks). Take part in this exciting journey with me and many others, and you and your family will be transformed anew for good, and eventually, our church ministry and mission will be strengthened afresh for the transformation of the world. A fourth small discussion group has been born in our midst. Do you recall the STORY campaign we ran last year? For 30 weeks we followed the major Bible stories from Genesis to Revelation. There were three discussion group meetings--on Sunday mornings, Wednesday mornings and Thursday evenings throughout the campaign. What a lively time of sharing and learning they enjoyed together! My joy was high because of the 3rd discussion group on Thursday evenings, mainly for our Chancel Choir members. Guess what. This year a 4th group session has been created on Tuesday evenings at 7 pm. Thank YOU, Anna Schindler, our new Youth Director! She took the initiative to create a time of learning and growing in faith for our youth and young adults who recently graduated from high school. Taking this opportunity, I want to say, Thank YOU! to Karen and Lynette, our Sunday School Superintendents. Under their faithful and passionate leadership, our Sunday School children also follow the BELIEVE campaign every Sunday. So what do you see happening at FGUMC? Do you see what I see? We, Fairfield Grace, young and old, are learning together, and we are growing together and we are becoming Christ-like together. Isn t it wonderful for sisters and brothers in Christ to sit down in a circle and listen to one another and encourage each other to grow in faith? Surely, our cup runneth over. Hallelujah! Let us keep one another in our prayers, that the spirit of the living God may continue to guide and empower us to live and fulfill God s will for each one of us and all of us. I do believe God, who created a radical new beginning through the early disciples of Jesus Christ, will do the same here at Fairfield Grace via the BELIEVE campaign. One more new ministry is on the horizon. It is my response to a question raised by our new Bishop Bickerton during the clergy retreat last week, How often do you visit places you do not normally go as a disciple of Jesus Christ? Come to Panera on Tuesday mornings at 10 am, and you will see me sitting at a table with a sign that reads, Talk to Me Pastor Cho. Yes, I would like to be available to anyone who might need to talk to somebody about whatever issues they have in mind. Having a chance to talk to anyone who needs

somebody to talk with could be a way to share the love of Christ. Don t you think so? Thank YOU, Eugene Denuette, who gave me encouragement and affirmation for this ministry. Join me to pray that the spirit of the living God may work mysteriously and wonderfully to reach and touch people in our community. Once again, I would like to welcome Anna Schindler as our new Youth Director. She comes to us with a great passion to work with and for our youth and their friends in the community, for which we are grateful. Be reminded that she cannot carry out this important ministry alone. Take an extra step to create a vital youth ministry at FGUMC.
