THE LITURGY OF THE WORD reading Acts 4:5 12 The rulers, elders, and scribes assembled in Jerusalem, with Annas high priest, Caiaphas, John, and Alexander, and all who were of high-priestly family. When y had made prisoners stand in ir midst, y inquired, By what power or by what name did you do this? Then Peter, filled with Holy Spirit, said to m, Rulers of people and elders, if we are questioned today because of a good deed done to someone who was sick and are asked how this man has been healed, let it be known to all of you, and to all people of Israel, that this man is standing before you in good health by name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from dead. This Jesus is stone that was rejected by you, builders; it has become cornerstone. There is salvation in no one else, for re is no or name under heaven given among mortals by which we must be saved. reading 1 John 3:16 24 We know love by this, that he laid down his life for us and we ought to lay down our lives for one anor. How does God s love abide in anyone who has world s goods and sees a bror or sister in need and yet refuses help? Little children, let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action. And by this we will know that we are from truth and will reassure our hearts before him whenever our hearts condemn us; for God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything. Beloved, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have boldness before God; and we receive from him whatever we ask, because we obey his commandments and do what pleases him. And this is his commandment, that we should believe in name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one anor, just as he has commanded us. All who obey his commandments abide in him, and he abides in m. And by this we know that he abides in us, by Spirit that he has given us. Reader Hear what Spirit is saying to God s people. Assembly Thanks be to God. holy gospel John 10:11 18 Deacon The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to John. Assembly Glory to you, Lord Christ. Jesus said, I am good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for sheep. The hired hand, who is not shepherd and does not own sheep, sees wolf coming and leaves sheep and runs away and wolf snatches m and scatters m. The hired hand runs away because a hired hand does not care for sheep. I am good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, just as Far knows me and I know Far. And I lay down my life for sheep. I have or sheep that do not belong to this fold. I must bring m also, and y will listen to my voice. So re will be one flock, one shepherd. For this reason Far loves me, because I lay down my life in order to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it up again. I have received this command from my Far. Deacon The Gospel of Lord. Assembly Praise to you, Lord Christ. sermon The Reverend Cristi Chapman 6

All rise as able. nicene creed prayers of assembly After each petition: We believe in one God, Far, Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, only Son of God, eternally begotten of Far, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with Far; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate of Holy Spirit and Virgin Mary and became truly human. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On third day he rose again in accordance with Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at right hand of Far. He will come again in glory to judge living and dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in Holy Spirit, Lord, giver of life, who proceeds from Far, who with Far and Son is worshiped and glorified, who has spoken through prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for forgiveness of sins. We look for resurrection of dead, and life of world to come. Amen. Assembly And also with you. Presider Lift up your hearts. Assembly We lift m to Lord. Presider Let us give thanks to Lord our God. Assembly It is right to give God thanks and praise. Presider It is truly right to glorify you, Far, and to give you thanks; for you alone are God, living and true, dwelling in light inaccessible from before time and for ever. Fountain of life and source of all goodness, you made all things and fill m with your blessing; you created m to rejoice in splendor of your radiance. Countless throngs of angels stand before you to serve you night and day; and, beholding glory of your presence, y offer you unceasing praise. Joining with m, and giving voice to every creature under heaven, we acclaim you, and glorify your Name, as we sing: 8

sanctus & benedictus A Community Mass Richard Proulx (1937 2010) Ho ly, ho ly, glo ry. name Ho of ho san ly Lord, na Lord. Presider We acclaim you, holy Lord, glorious in power. Your mighty works reveal your wisdom and love. You formed us in your own image, giving whole world into our care, so that, in obedience to you, our Creator, we might rule and serve all your creatures. When our disobedience took us far from you, you did not abandon us to power of death. In your mercy you came to our help, so that in seeking you we might find you. Again and again you called us into covenant with you, and through prophets you taught us to hope for salvation. Far, you loved world so much that in fullness of time you sent your only Son to be our Savior. Incarnate by Holy Spirit, born of Virgin Mary, he lived as one of us, yet without sin. To poor he proclaimed good news of salvation; to prisoners, freedom; to sorrowful, joy. To fulfill your purpose he gave himself up to death; and, rising from grave, destroyed death, and made whole creation new. And, that we might live no longer for ourselves, but for him who died and rose for us, he sent Holy Spirit, his own first gift for those who believe, to complete his work in world, and to bring to fulfillment sanctification of all. When hour had come for him to be glorified by you, his heavenly Far, having loved his own who were in world, he loved m to end; at supper with m he took bread, and when he had given thanks to you, he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, and said, Take, eat: This is my Body, which is given for you. Do this for remembrance of me. After supper he took cup of wine; and when he had given thanks, he gave it to m, and said, Drink this, all of you: This is my Blood of new Covenant, which is shed for you and for many for forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for remembrance of me. Far, we now celebrate this memorial of our redemption. Recalling Christ s death and his descent among dead, proclaiming his resurrection and ascension to your right hand, awaiting his coming in glory; and offering to you, from gifts you have given us, this bread and this cup, we praise you and we bless you.
