All Souls Catholic 2 Christmas thoughts from the Pastor My dearest parishioners with great joy in my heart I would like to express my deepest appreciation to all of you both in the English and Hispanic community for an outstanding year. I pray that the Christmas season will bring into each of you a profound sense of joy and peace in the birth of the Christ child at Bethlehem. May the joy of this season illuminate the darkness in the world and give us courage to continue forward in the name of our Lord. I look forward to an exciting 2016 year. Be certain that I will carry your intentions in my deepest prayers. Peace in Christ, Fr. Gilbert Medina The 4th Sunday of Advent "Mary set out and traveled to the hill country in haste." What was the rush? Why did Mary go so quickly to visit her cousins Elizabeth and Zechariah? It's hard to know exactly what her purpose was, but one thing is clear: Mary and Elizabeth shared a special connection. Perhaps Mary was anxious to be in the company of someone who could understand her unusual situation. At this point, Mary was newly pregnant by the power of the Holy Spirit. The verses preceding today's reading tell us about the appearance of the Angel Gabriel and Mary's willingness to become the mother of the Messiah. Now, this child was already growing within her womb, but the whole thing was an incredible secret. Who would believe her? In whom could Mary confide the unbelievable events that had taken place? We know that at some point later, Joseph had a vision in a dream that allowed him to understand. But before that dream came, he was planning to part ways with Mary. It must have been during that difficult time that Mary went to see Elizabeth. And what joy that upon her arrival, Elizabeth immediately understood. "Blessed is the fruit of your womb," Elizabeth cried out. The same Holy Spirit who conceived Jesus in Mary's womb enlightened Elizabeth at this moment. What a consolation this must have been to Mary. This story reminds us of the importance of our own fellowship in the faith. Sharing our spiritual journey with other believers who are receptive to the Holy Spirit is meant to be a source of encouragement and strength. We are not supposed to be in this alone. As we worship and celebrate together with our faith community, may we share with each other the real joy of this sacred season. LPI, Inc. All Souls Cemetery Location: Corner of 25th St. & Hardy Ave. Lord Jesus Christ, You have taught us to be merciful like the heavenly Father, and have told us that whoever sees you sees Him. Show us your face and we will be saved. Your loving gaze freed Zacchaeus and Matthew from being enslaved by money; the adulteress and Magdalene from seeking happiness only in created things; made Peter weep after his betrayal, and assured Paradise to the repentant thief. Let us hear, as if addressed to each one of us, the words that you spoke to the Samaritan woman: If you knew the gift of God! You are the visible face of the invisible Father, of the God who manifests his power above all by forgiveness and mercy: let the be your visible face in the world, its Lord risen and glorified. You willed that your ministers would also be clothed in weakness in order that they may feel compassion for those in ignorance and error: let everyone who approaches them feel sought after, loved, and forgiven by God. Send your Spirit and consecrate every one of us with its anointing, so that the Jubilee of Mercy may be a year of grace from the Lord, and your, with renewed enthusiasm, may bring good news to the poor, proclaim liberty to captives and the oppressed, and restore sight to the blind. We ask this through the intercession of Mary, Mother of Mercy, you who live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit for ever and ever. Amen.

The Fourth Sunday of Advent 3 Make All Souls Your Parish Home... Often people attend Mass at All Souls for several years, but never register. Registering here is a declaration of your desire to be part of a Catholic community and to make a commitment to the life of All Souls. Being a registered parishioner makes the process much easier when it is time for infant baptism, school or religious education registration, weddings, when asked to be a baptismal or confirmation sponsor, and even funerals. A registered parishioner receives all parish mailings, too. law advises that territories or boundaries no longer limit parish registration. All Souls accepts anyone who wants to share in the life of the parish regardless of where they live. In order to register, you need to complete a which registration card. These may be found narthex of the church or chapel, the parish office during the week or online at our parish website:. Why not sign up today? We love our new parishioners! Welcome New Members! Frieda Kulp Reynaldo, Paola & Adrian Reyes To all our families at All Souls... During this season, my prayer is that you will have a Blessed and Holy Christmas. Though Jesus the Father s glorious light and love is made present to us. A light that shines like a beacon, even in our darkest moments. All Souls Catholic 6 The Society of St. Vincent de Paul... Merry Christmas from your friends with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul! How you help us help others: A mother with several children went into labor Thanksgiving Eve. Her brother came to watch the kids and there was very little food and absolutely no Thanksgiving meal for Thursday. The call came in late on Wednesday night. So, after Thanksgiving Mass, we took a full feast and lots of drinks - the water at this apartment tastes like rust. The kids were so excited about chocolate milk and marshmallows that they started dancing! Food Pantry Need of the Week: Cereal. Last week: 127 items were donated with a retail value of $338. Thanks! Year-end giving: We re a non-profit and we re happy to provide you or your business a tax receipt for year-end donations. We appreciate your generosity! Vincentian Reflection: Jesus was born during the night of the year when darkness is the longest. The Savior of the world comes for the people in dark places. The real, lasting, and deep joy is that the Light shines there. Through your gifts, Light has shown, bringing real, lasting and deep joy to the hearts of the poor who live in dark places in our streets and neighborhoods. Paz en Cristo, EXCITING NEWS FOR YOU!! JOIN THE ALL SOULS YOUTH, D.A.W.G. ON OUR SUMMER MISSION TRIP!
