DOINGS AT THE LODGE Dunmunkle Lodge Newsletter December 2017 RESIDENT BIRTHDAYS In late November Ruth Shepherd and David Collard celebrated birthdays. So far this month Stuart Sudholz and Ailsa Padley have had birthdays, while Ellen Niewand and Don McKenzie will celebrate theirs towards the end of December. Best wishes to you all! ILU UPDATE In warm appreciation of our association we extend our best wishes for a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year filled with peace, joy and love. A huge thank you to our Maintenance men Ian Smith and Shane Dalton for the fantastic job they did painting external areas of the Independent Living Units (ILU s). Their efforts braving the heat have made a noticeable difference. Ian and Shane are pictured below on the cherry picker which was hired to make their job a little easier. RECIPES From Residents and Staff For inclusion in a Dunmunkle Lodge Cookbook to raise funds. Contributions to be forwarded to Annia or Chelsie asap please!

Dr Wimbury Is now seeing patients from the wider community for appointments. He visits DUNMUNKLE LODGE every Tuesday. WHAT S NEW On 21 st November a new kitchenette was installed in the Dunmunkle Lodge sunroom by SRT Cabinetry. The extended bench space has an inbuilt basin which will facilitate easily accessible hand wash facilities. We recognise the importance of hand hygiene, and are committed to ensuring hand wash compliance requirements are being met at all times. The new improved kitchenette has also provided both staff and Residents with a more functional work space. If you would like to make use of this wonderful service, please call Tania or Penny during office hours to make an appointment. Office hours: 9.00am to 3.00pm 1 McLeod Street, Minyip VIC 3392 p 03 5385 7463 e receptiondl@dunmunklelodge.com.au web www.dunmunklelodge.com.au GETTING CRAFTY On the 22 nd of November Sarah from Bunnings Warehouse visited our Residents and invited them to take part in a craft activity. It was wonderful to see so many of our Residents taking up this offer and beautifully decorating the trinket boxes supplied. Pictured below are Ellen Niewand, Pauline Harper, David Collard, and Hazel Harris.

RESIDENT ACTIVITIES It is always a highlight when the Minyip Primary School students come to visit. Pictured above left are Ann Lowe and Betty Barry playing a game of Snakes and Ladders, and on the right Ellen Niewand, Betty Sanders and Evelyn Cornell are enjoying a game of cards. The Minyip Primary School recently presented their school production Ship of Fools. Several of our Residents thoroughly enjoyed an outing to the town hall to watch the kids on stage they did a sensational job well done to all involved! Above left: No matter what your age, balloon bop is a fun way to pass a little time. The favorable cooler weather has presented the perfect opportunity to get out and about. Pictured above right are our Lifestyle Coordinator Annia, Ellen Niewand, Rosie Ball, Ann Lowe, Ailsa Padley, Evelyn Cornell, Betty Barry, Allison Stacey and Betty Sanders taking a stroll. PRIMARY SCHOOL CHRISTMAS CAROLERS We have been very fortunate over the last couple of weeks to have children from the Marnoo, Minyip and Warracknabeal Primary Schools come and sing carols for our Residents. The children are an absolute pleasure to have here - they are always kind, polite and their smiles light up the room. Thank you to all of the teachers, aids and kids who have come along to spread a little Christmas cheer, your singing was truly joyous. Wishing you the merriest of Christmas and all good things for 2018! CHRISTMAS HIGH TEA The festive season is the perfect time to indulge in great food.
