STRATEGIC INITIATIVES 1. Enhance the Sunday Experience Enhance the Mass experience at Saint Michael Parish through vibrant music, inspiring homilies, welcoming all and facilitating the opportunity for a personal encounter with Jesus Christ. a. Create a welcoming atmosphere from the parking lot to the pew. b. Improve the physical space to enhance the worship experience and welcome everyone. c. Ensure that the music reflects Mass as a celebration. d. Involve and continue to develop participants in the liturgical ministries. e. Incorporate sharing of personal stories of faith with the whole parish, as a means of inspiring parishioners and encouraging them on their faith journey. f. Homilies that touch people in a way that challenges them and encourages them in their faith. g. Everyone is a hospitality minister.

STRATEGIC INITIATIVES 2. Connecting Through Small Groups Increase the use of small groups to help parishioners connect with one another, help each other and help the community. a. Promote small faith sharing groups rooted in scripture and focused on understanding our Catholic faith. b. Develop support groups to help each other in times of need and transition. c. Form groups based on common interests and ages to connect parishioners outside the weekly Mass experience. d. Utilize small groups to go out into the community to spread the Gospel and help the community by performing services where needed. e. Develop vocational discernment groups.

STRATEGIC INITIATIVES 3. Evangelization and Outreach Reach out to the community to bring the Good News to all. a. Help parishioners serve the most vulnerable in our community by partnering with Catholic Community Services, other faith communities and civic organizations. b. Actively reach out to non-parishioners to come to Saint Michael Parish and hear the Good News. c. Be visible in the community as a member of Saint Michael Parish when participating in activities. d. Intentionally communicate our Catholic faith and Catholic Social Teaching in the public sphere. e. Provide formation and education to assist parishioners to be missionary disciples. f. Promote stewardship as the foundation for all parish programs and community outreach.

STRATEGIC INITIATIVES 4. Growing in Faith, Forming Disciples Provide opportunities to enable all parishioners to grow in their personal faith, no matter where they are on their faith journey. a. Develop a mentor program that supports parishioners in their faith journey and continues to develop more mentors at all levels. b. Provide tools to help individuals assess where they are in their spiritual development and highlight potential next steps they could take on their journey. c. Promote personal and communal prayer as a key component to spiritual growth. d. Enhance and develop programs that support sacramental life and faith formation as disciples of Jesus Christ. e. Recognize the role of St. Michael School as a pivotal element of our growth in faith for children, parents and the parish community.

Develop a process for how to communicate what is happening at Saint Michael Parish, both inside and outside of the parish. b. Develop the tools required to communicate in today s world so they are available to be used by all as needed. c. Help parishioners communicate with each other in order to know what is going on and how they can participate. d. Provide a clearinghouse approach to information to link parishioners to resources and assistance they need. e. Disseminate the Good News and truth about our Catholic faith to the broader community. f. Communicate parish and community resources to those in need. g. Communicate key decisions affecting our parish community. STRATEGIC INITIATIVE Action Plans Collect and Disseminate Witness Testimonials Gather witness testimonials in various formats (story, video, quote, ect.) on how people have experienced and lived the six Elements of Discipleship. Meet Up Groups Provide a structure/clearinghouse approach that allows people to identify their interests and form interest groups around them. Parent Formation Component SMP Wear Provide formation element for parents whose children attend a formation class. Every K -12 program will have a parent formation element. Create branded logo apparel for volunteers to wear when doing SMP ministry in the community.

STRATEGIC INITIATIVE Action Plans St. Paul Street Evangelization Teach me How to Evangelize Establish a chapter of St. Paul Street Evangelization Ministries at SMP as a programmatic means of doing evangelization. Set up a series of ongoing classes to teach the average parishioner how to evangelize. Renovation, expansion and improvements to the Downtown Church and Westside Chapel Improve the Westside and Downtown worship space to provide a space that is welcoming to all, beautiful in décor, and the proclamation of the Word and music stirs all to full participation. Create a space that enhances Parish ministry needs. 2017 Faithraising Campaign Over 20 new Action Plans in development!
