PARISH MEMBERSHIP New members need to contact the Parish Office to register for an Evening of Welcome at which time the process of formally becoming a parishioner will be initiated. We receive many requests for certificates of sponsorship for Baptism and Confirmation. Certificates can only be given to registered members of the parish who actively practice their faith. Members are those who regularly attend Mass and participate in and support the life of the Church. SACRAMENTS BAPTISM The Rite of Baptism is celebrated on the first Sunday of the month following the 11:00 am Mass and the third Sunday of the month at the 11:00 am liturgy, except during Lent. Parents must attend an obligatory preparation session prior to the child s birth. Arrangements for a Baptismal date are made at that session. MATRIMONY In accordance with Diocesan policy, couples wishing to be married at OLL must participate in a one-year preparation program, which includes FOCCUS, Pre-Cana, God s Plan for a Faith- Filled Marriage, and required paperwork. Please confirm the date with the Church prior to making other plans. Marriages take place on Fridays and Saturdays no Sunday weddings. This past January we said goodbye to Tim Price who was active as a cantor and choir member. Tim moved south to North Carolina to teach elementary music in an economically disadvantaged area. For example, over 70% of the students at his school qualify for school meal support, allowing them to eat 2 meals a day (imagine trying to learn while hungry). Even a simple expense such as a $5 recorder, which for many of us was our first musical instrument, is unreachable for families where acquiring food is even challenging. That lead him to question how he could financially support a school population of over 700 students, giving them the ability to experience music as so many others do. He instituted a non-profit organization entitled, "Ties 4 Tunes." He wears a different tie each day while teaching and then offers them on social media for sale to support funding recorders for all students. Here is where we can help. You can go to Facebook and search for Ties 4 Tunes and for $7 purchase a tie. $5 of every sale goes towards supporting various school music programs. I invite you to consider helping these children witness the generosity and responsibility we have for each other and allow them to experience the love of music. With your tie purchase you will receive a receipt of your donation. Because of the project s non-profit status, a disclaimer has to be presented: This is not a fundraiser for any particular school or district. Funds will be donated to any school in need of instruments. You can also make a donation to Ties 4 Tunes by contacting Tim at ties4tunes@gmail.com. Today is Father s Day, the day of gifting dad a tie. Why not consider one of Tim s Ties 4 Tunes, giving dad and a needy child a great gift. Remember that our summer Mass schedule begins next weekend and will continue through September 4 (Labor Day Weekend.) SUMMER MASS SCHEDULE: Starting NEXT Weekend, June 25 & 26, Saturday Evening: 5:30 pm, Sunday: 8:30 & 10:30 am WEEKLY TITHE 5% OF NEXT WEEK S COLLECTION WILL BE DONATED TO SISTERS OF SAINT ELIZABETH.
