her. He told her that God had lied to her and Adam. Satan said that if they sinned and disobeyed God they would not die. They would be like God. Satan told Eve that if she really wanted to be happy she should disobey God. Prayer Dear God, Forgive me for all the times that I have sinned against you. Help me o obey you and love you. For Jesus sake, Amen. Adam and Eve believed that horrible lie. Eve picked some fruit from the forbidden tree and ate it. Then she gave some to Adam, who was with her, and he ate it too. Immediately they both became very, very sad and afraid. They knew they disobeyed God and they tried to hide from him. They didn t want to talk to him anymore. All of us feel sad sometimes. Like Adam and Eve, we sin and disobey God. In the next lesson we will learn about the awful things that happened because Adam and Eve sinned. We will also learn about the wonderful promise God gave Adam and Eve to save them from their sin. You can be forgiven for all the times you disobey God. Why don t you ask God to forgive you right now? Ask him to make you good and to help you obey him. 12 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. Matthew 22:37 NOW READ GENESIS 3:1-7 AND THEN TAKE THE TEST ON PAGE 21 GENESIS 3:1-8 1 The serpent was more clever than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. The serpent said to the woman, Did God really say, You must not eat the fruit of any tree that is in the garden? 2 The woman said to the serpent, We can eat the fruit of the trees that are in the garden. 3 But God did say, You must not eat the fruit of the tree that is in the middle of the garden. Do not even touch it. If you do, you will die. 4 You can be sure that you won t die, the serpent said to the woman. 5 God knows that when you eat the fruit of that tree, you will know things you have never known before. You will be able to tell the difference between good and evil. You will be like God. 6 The woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good to eat. It was also pleasing to look at. And it would make a person wise. So she took some of the fruit and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her. And he ate it. 7 Then both of them knew things they had never known before. They realized they were naked. So they sewed fig leaves together and made clothes for themselves. 8 Then the man and his wife heard the Lord God walking in the garden. It was the coolest time of the day. They hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. 13

Lesson 4 of knowledge of good and evil. If you do, you can be sure that you will die. GOD s wo n d e r f u l p r o mise How sad Adam and Eve were after they disobeyed God! Before this they loved to talk with God. Now they were afraid of God and they tried to hide from him when he came to the garden to talk with them. But God wouldn t let them hide, and he went looking for them. SENT OUT OF THE GARDEN God knew that they had sinned, and he was very, very sad. he had told them what would happen if they sinned. But Satan told Adam and Eve that God was lying when he said that they would die if they disobeyed him. But God did not lie! God began to explain to Adam and Eve the awful things that were going to happen to them because they sinned. He told Adam that weeds would come in the ground and he would be very, very tired when he worked. He told Eve that she would suffer a lot of pain. He told them that they would have to leave the Garden of Eden forever! And, 14 God also promised them that if they obeyed him and didn t eat the fruit of that tree they would live forever! Adam and Eve obeyed God at first and were very, very happy. They didn t want to do something that would make God unhappy. One day Satan came to the Garden of Eden. Do you know who Satan is? Satan is a fallen angel who is fighting against God. Before God made the world he made angels. We cannot see angels because they don t have bodies like ours. Some of these angels became bad and God made them leave heaven. Satan is the leader of all these bad angels. He hates God and God s beautiful creation. He wants to destroy God and the world and all of us. He wants to make everyone sad and miserable. He does this by trying to get us to sin. SATAN S TEST Satan came to the Garden of Eden to see if he could get Adam and Eve to sin. He made himself look like a snake, found Eve and began to talk to 11

Lesson 3 The s a d d e s t s t o r y ever t o l d IT WAS GOOD This is a very sad story. As a matter of fact, it is the saddest story that you will ever read. After God created the world, everything was very beautiful. The two people whom God created were very, very happy. Their names were Adam and Eve. They never cried. They loved each other and they loved God and his world. And God gave them a very beautiful place to live the Garden of Eden. GOD MAKES A RULE When God put Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, he made a rule for them to obey. God said You can eat the fruit of any tree that is in the garden. But you must not eat the fruit of the tree 10 he told them they would die! So Adam and Eve left the garden and God put angels at the entrance to the garden to prevent anyone from entering the garden. Sin separates people from God. And Ever since that first sin people have been sad. There has been crying and fighting in the world. People try to kill each other. People are mean and disobedient. Even when they try their hardest, people can t stop sinning. Sin has caused all the sadness in the world. GOD S PROMISE But God also made a wonderful promise to Adam and Eve. He told them that it wouldn t always be bad. He told them that someday sin would be taken out of the world! He told them that he would send Jesus, his Son, to suffer and die to take away the sin that came into the world with Adam and Eve and continues to this day. 15

God tells us that if we believe in Jesus, when our bodies die, our souls will go to heaven to live with Jesus. And then someday when Jesus comes again, we will get new bodies, and there will be a new heaven and a new earth. All the sin will be taken out of the world. There will be no more crying, or sorrow, or suffering. People will love God and love one another perfectly. But only the people who love Jesus and believe in him will be able to live in heaven. those who do not love Jesus will be sent to live in hell, a place far away from God. Sometimes we think sins are just BIG things like murder or bank robbery. We don t understand that lying or cheating or being mean to your brother or sister, are also sins. We don t understand that disobeying our parents or whining and complaining are sins. We are all sinners. That is why God sent His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ to earth. That is why Christ died on the cross so He could pay the price for 16 19 And there was evening, and there was morning. It was day four. 20 God said, Let the waters be filled with living things. Let birds fly above the earth across the huge space of the sky. 21 So God created the great creatures of the ocean. He created every living and moving thing that fills the waters. He created all kinds of them. He created every kind of bird that flies. And God saw that it was good. 22 God blessed them. He said, Have little ones and increase your numbers. Fill the water in the oceans. Let there be more and more birds on the earth. 23 There was evening, and there was morning. It was day five. 24 God said, Let the land produce all kinds of living creatures. Let there be livestock, and creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals. Let there be all kinds of them. And that s exactly what happened. 25 God made all kinds of wild animals. He made all kinds of livestock. He made all kinds of creatures that move along the ground. And God saw that it was good. 26 Then God said, Let us make man in our likeness. Let them rule over the fish in the waters and the birds of the air. Let them rule over the livestock and over the whole earth. Let them rule over all of the creatures that move along the ground. 27 So God created man in his own likeness. He created him in the likeness of God. He created them as male and female. 28 God blessed them. He said to them, Have children and increase your numbers. Fill the earth and bring it under your control. Rule over the fish in the waters and the birds of the air. Rule over every living creature that moves on the ground. 29 Then God said, I am giving you every plant on the face of the whole earth that bears its own seeds. I am giving you every tree that has fruit with seeds in it. All of them will be given to you for food. 30 I am giving every green plant to all of the land animals and the birds of the air for food. I am also giving the plants to all of the creatures that move on the ground. I am giving them to every living thing that breathes. And that s exactly what happened. 31 God saw everything he had made. And it was very good. There was evening, and there was morning. It was day six. 2:1 So the heavens and the earth and everything in them were completed. 2 By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing. So on the seventh day he rested from all of his work. 3 God blessed the seventh day and made it holy. He rested on it. After he had created everything, he rested from all of the work he had done. 9

Have you ever thanked God for making the world and for making you? Have you ever thanked him for all the beautiful flowers and trees and birds and animals? Do it now! Pray this little prayer: Prayer Thank you God for making the world and for putting beautiful and awesome things in it. Thank you for making me. Help me to see you when I look at your creation. Amen. our sin and we no longer have to be separated from God and so we can live forever with him in heaven. Jesus is now in heaven preparing a place for those who know Him as Savior. Jesus says, There are many rooms in my Father's house. If this were not true, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. (John 14:2) God created man in his own likeness... He created them as male and female. Genesis 1:27 NOW READ GENESIS 1:14-2:3 AND THEN TAKE THE TEST ON PAGE 20 GENESIS 1:14-2:3 14 God said, Let there be lights in the huge space of the sky. Let them separate the day from the night. Let them serve as signs to mark off the seasons and the days and the years. 15 Let them serve as lights in the huge space of the sky to give light on the earth. And that s exactly what happened. 16 God made two great lights. He made the larger light to rule over the day. He made the smaller light to rule over the night. He also made the stars. 17 God put the lights in the huge space of the sky to give light on the earth. 18 He put them there to rule over the day and the night. He put them there to separate light from darkness. God saw it was good. 8 Do you understand that you are a sinner and separated from God? Do you understand that you need someone to take care of your sin problem? If you understand that you are a sinner and that you need a Savior, then you need to tell God that you are ready to receive his wonderful gift and to become a follower of Jesus. You can do it right now. Just pray and thank Jesus for dying on the cross and forgiving your sins. You can put this into your own words, or you can pray the words of the prayer below. 17

Prayer Dear Jesus, Thank you for loving me and for dying on the cross so that I can become a child of God. I want to be a follower of Jesus Christ. Thank You for your gift of forgiveness and eternal life. Amen. Each person whom God makes has a soul. This is the part of us that looks like God. We can t see our souls. But because we have a soul we can talk to God and he can talk to us. God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son. Anyone who believes in him will not die but will have eternal life. John 3:16 NOW READ THE VERSES AND THEN TAKE THE TEST ON PAGE 23 JOHN 3:16 God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son. Anyone who believes in him will not die but will have eternal life. JOHN 14:1-3 Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God. Trust in me also. There are many rooms in my Father s house. If this were not true I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. If I go and do that, I will come back. And I will take you to be with me. Then you will also be where I am. REVELATION 21:4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or sadness. There will be no more crying or pain. Things are no longer the way they used to be. 18 THE SEVENTH DAY When God was finished with his creation, he saw that it was very good. So on the seventh day God rested from all his work. God is very, very great, isn t he? Did you ever realize how great he is? He created everything in the world, including you. And he made it all just by commanding it to be there! 7

FISH AND BIRDS TEST - LESSON ONE air above the On the fifth day God filled the oceans and the lakes with fish. Big fish and little fish. Whales and minnows! And then God looked at the earth and he commanded that it should be filled with birds. All kinds of birds. Have you ever gone to a bird house at the zoo and seen all the different birds that God made? THE SIXTH DAY God filled the air with birds and the lakes and rivers and oceans with fish. But the land was still empty. And so God made animals. All kinds of animals. Some of the animals that God made then don t live anymore. They are called dinosaurs. Some of these huge animals would eat tons of leaves and grass every day! After making the animals God saw that there weren t any animals or birds or fish that he could really talk to. And so he made people. The first people he created were called Adam and Eve. 6 Based on the lesson and Bible verses you just read, answer these questions. In the first lesson we studied the things that God made on the first three days of creation. On the fourth day God made the sun, the moon, and the stars. He spoke and suddenly they were all there! The moon and the stars gave light in the night. During the day the sun shone on the earth and warmed it. It made the water sparkle, and made the grass become greener. It was all beautiful and peaceful and quiet. 5

GOD CREATED EVERYTHING TEST LESSON FOUR The Bible tells us that God is the one who made everything in the world. He made all the stars, the sun, and moon, all the trees, and all the flowers and the birds. There isn t a single thing in the whole world that God didn t make! Based on the lesson and Bible verses you just read, answer these questions. You may look back at the lesson and the Bible verses for the answers. How much did God love the world? (John 3:16) What happens to people who believe in Jesus? (John 3:16) HOW DID GOD MAKE EVERYTHING? The Bible tells us that he just spoke and everything started. Did you ever wish that you had a new bike? Just wishing for a bike won t do much for you. You can t get things just by wanting them. But God is so powerful that all he had to do was want the world to be, and it was! The Bible tells us that God spoke, or commanded things to be, and they just came to be! He didn t use any lumber or bricks or anything else to make them! DID GOD MAKE EVERYTHING AT ONCE? What is in heaven waiting for us? (John 14:2) What will God wipe away from our eyes when we get to heaven? (Revelation 21:4) Why did Adam and Eve try to hide from God? Could Adam and Eve stay in the garden? Whom did God send into this world to pay for our sins? Is Jesus your Savior? he Bible tells us that God made different things on different days. 2 23
