Vision for Mission M & M donations Many thanks to those who remembered to bring change to make change on the First Sunday of the month ( M & M Sunday) but you re welcome to bring the change any weekend at all!. Offerings can be placed in the wooden church any Sunday morning. If you would like credit for your donation, complete the form next to the wooden church and submit it in the slot with your donation. Don t forget to take your empty container back home to fill up for next month! Nursery is available for children (to age 3) during Sunday worship at 9:15am & 11:00am and can be found down the hall, from the sanctuary. There are pagers to locate parents if needed. There is also a cry room with a speaker at the back of the sanctuary for a brief time-out for restless worshipers. Please be considerate of other worshipers by bringing children to worship, if they are able, and to the nursery, if necessary. Sunday School is held each Sunday at 9:45am for adult members and visitors. One adult class is held in the Annex and the other in Classrooms 3 & 4 just off the Shepherd Center towards the back parking lot. The class in the Annex follows the Augsburg Adult Bible Studies Series. Classrooms 3 & 4 are studying the Books of 1 st, 2 nd, 3 rd John. If you need help finding the class, please ask an usher and they will be happy to point you in the right direction. The children join us in worship in the Sanctuary from 9:15am until about 9:45am and are then dismissed to their classes in the Shepherd Center (the building next door). Sunday School ends at 10:45am. You may then pick up your child at their class. Come join us for spiritual growth! Find it hard to join the groups on Sunday morning? Don t forget the home Bible studies, daily Bible lessons and daily devotion e-mailed by Pastor Johnson as well (available in written form at the round table at the entrance to church)! + + + HAPPENINGS IN THE WOODS THIS WEEK AND NEWS & NOTES + + + Quilting Ministry Please join us the second and fourth Wednesday of each month in the Shepherd Center at Southside from 2:30pm - 4:30pm. Join us at our next session on Wed. Sept 9 th We make the prayer quilts provided to anyone in need, as well as quilts sent through Lutheran World Relief to countries all around the world. All skill levels welcome. Come out and be a part of the fun!! There will be an all-day Quilt-A-Thon on Saturday, Sept 26 th from 9am to 5pm if we have anyone who wants to work later, we will keep going!! This is our one day during the fall season to get as many quilt tops matched with filler and backing as possible. Please come join this fun, vibrant and important ministry. There is something for everyone from expert seamstress all the way to someone who would like to just cut squares!! Men s Breakfast & Bible Study will meet Saturday, September 12 th at 7:30am to enjoy fellowship over BREAKFAST and then continue the study of the Men of the Bible. This week s focus will be Noah, a man not afraid to obey God! Please bring your Bible and invite a friend. Sign up on the Pink Insert please. New Member Orientation Luncheon If you have been worshiping with us and participating in our activities, but not yet joined the congregation, we invite you to do so. Joining could not be easier. We will have an orientation luncheon on Saturday, September 12 th at 11:00am at our Southside location. It will be an informative time of fellowship, lunch is provided, and there will be childcare for those who request it. If this is not a convenient time, please speak with one of the Pastors and we will arrange something for you. If you will be attending, please indicate this on the pink insert. First Communion Is your child interested in receiving communion and does he or she have your blessing to do so? First Communion classes are open to any child who has the desire to receive and the permission of the parent. New classes begin Saturday, September 12 from 4pm to 5pm at the Southside location and continue each Saturday for several weeks. Youth 7 th 12 th grade - Night of Joy Sept 12-13 at Walt Disney World Teens and chaperones will meet at the Southside location on Saturday, Sept 12 th at 1:30pm for a brief meeting and immediate departure! This is a great gathering of teens and adults from all over the country who come to see Christian rock bands perform live throughout the night. Our group worships at a church in Orlando and then returns home, arriving approx. 2:30pm. Tickets were pre-purchased for those reserving rooms with the group but individual tickets may be purchased online or at the gate. Mark Your Calendar! ***** ONGOING EVENTS, BIBLE STUDIES & CHOIRS ***** ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL Come and be uplifted by the powerful Word of God! A number of studies are held each Sunday at the Southside location from 9:45 until 10:45am. One is held in the Annex and the other in Classrooms 3 & 4 just off the Shepherd Center towards the back parking lot. This group follows the Augsburg Adult Bible Studies Series. Classrooms 3 & 4 are studying 1 st, 2 nd & 3rd John. Join us this week! AT THE LAKESHORE an Adult Bible Study class on the Parables of Jesus is held from 9am 9:40am. At Home! There is also a private study offered by our pastors called Faith Matters. This is an email devotion sent each day and can be read and reflected on by individuals or groups alike at your leisure. You can sign up by indicating your interest on the pink insert. If you prefer a printed copy, pick yours up today in the entry area. YOUTH SUNDAY SCHOOL AND BIBLE STUDY Children and Youth are invited to study each Sunday, midway through the 9:15am Southside service and midway through the 10:00 Lakeshore service. This follows the lessons, children s homily, and communion (which is offered to all baptized members of the body of Christ). Children s Sunday School You are the God of great wonders! Psalm 77:14 This week children (PreK-6th gr) will be learning about Jesus miracles through games, drawings, songs,reflections, and skits. The children will learn about the miracle of Jesus Feeding the Five Thousand, John 6:1-14. We will learn to trust God to provide. Be sure to join us for fun and faith development. Children s Sunday School Teachers Are Needed: Please consider teaching the younger disciples in Sunday School. Speak to one of the pastors or Madelyn Speagle if you re able to teach or have any questions about serving. The children thank you! Men s Breakfast & Bible Study normally meets the 1st Saturday of each month at 7:30am at Southside however the next meeting is Saturday, September 12 th due to the Labor Day weekend. Carl Helmers facilitates this group in the discussion. Please bring your Bible. This is YOUR invitation to come and join us as we seek to learn more about God by studying His Word! Hope to see you there! Invite a friend! Women s Bible Study meets at the Southside location from 10am to noon on the 2 nd and 4 th Monday of each month. This group resumes after their summer break on Mon, Sept 14 th and begins the season with What Do You Know About Moses? Ladies of any age are welcome - please plan to come and be a part of this group in study of the Word. YOUTH MINISTRIES Shepherds Flock (K-3 rd grade) & Jr Youth (4 th -6 th grade) - Regular weekly meetings resume Sept 13 from 5pm to 7pm at the Lakeshore Location Youth 7 th 12 th grade - Youth attend Night of Joy Sept 12-13 departing Southside location on Sat the 12 th at 1:30pm and returning Sun the 13 th at approximately 2:30pm. Regular meetings resume on Sunday, Sept. 20 th at 5pm with Activity Hour followed by Dinner at 6:00, Group Worship at 6:30. Grades 7&8 then attend Confirmation Classes and Senior High attends devotions. MUSIC MINISTRY - Sing or Ring unto the Lord! There is a choir for every worship service, every ability, and every age of singer. If you attend the 9:15 service at Southside, the Shepherd Singers rehearse Tuesdays from 5:30 6:30pm If you would like to join the Senior Choir singing at our traditional services at Southside (5:30pm Saturday and 8am and 11am on Sundays), join us at rehearsal on Tuesdays from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. The Bell Choir then rehearses on Tuesdays at 7:30pm Sonshine Singers is our youngest choir and open to children K-6 th grade. Rehearsals will resume on Sunday, September 13 from 4:15 4:45.
