Series at a Glance for Kid O Deo (continued) Lesson 1: Faithfulness When Joshua marched into the Promised Land, he expected to need tools like a sword and a shield. First, God had Joshua use a much greater tool, the fruit of faithfulness. When God gave Joshua a strange command, Joshua had to choose between trusting God and doing what seemed right to him. Joshua s choice shows us what it means to be faithful no matter what. : Patience Sometimes the hardest thing you ll do is to not do anything. Waiting for something can make a minute feel like an hour and a day feel like a year. This week, the story of Hannah will show us something important about patience. While waiting for a baby, she continued to trust God. Hannah shows us that having patience for God s timing is always worth the wait. Lesson 3: Self Control Daniel was one of many men captured by King Nebuchadnezzar and brought to work the city of Babylon. But Daniel stood out from the others. Everyone else was eating the delicious foods presented by the king, but Daniel and his friends did something different. In this week s story, Daniel shows us the power of self control. Lesson 4: Kindness/Goodness/Gentleness There are many examples of Jesus using the fruits of kindness, goodness, and gentleness. One of those times was on a day when Jesus had sailed across a sea and was met by a large crowd. We ll see what happens when Jesus meets a sick girl s father and a group of heartbroken people. Jesus actions in this story tell us about three powerful fruits of the spirit. Lesson 5: Peace In the Bible, we can read about Jesus going off to places by himself to talk to God. Even though Jesus loved helping people, he knew that making time for peace and spending time with God was important too. During a huge storm out on the water, Jesus demonstrated what it can look like to have true peace the kind of peace that only comes from God. Lesson 6: Love/Joy This week, we ll hear a story Jesus told about how powerful love can be. It s about a lost son and the love his father had for him. When we have love, it s that much easier to have true joy another fruit! God loves each of us so much, and he wants us to joyfully share that love with others. We ll learn how we can do that this week in Kid O Deo! 3

Opening Song 3:00 (Roll when directed) Kid O Deo Theme Song Video (Auto advance) Kid O Deo Slide Welcome 2:00 Hi Kid Os! Welcome to Kid O Deo! My name is, and I m so glad you re all here! We will be singing some songs, learning a Bible Memory Verse, and hearing an awesome story. Before we do any of that, let s go over the rules we have in Kid O Deo. There are 829 of them, so we better get started! NO! No? How many do we have? THREE! Oh yes, you re right! Rule #1: When I m talking, you are listening! Everyone put on your listening ears, and on the count of three, let s practice listening! Rule #2: Keep your hands and feet to yourself! Do a little clap and place your hands in your lap! Rule #3: Stay in your spot! Let s take our special glue sticks and put some glue on our spot to help us stay in the right place! Now that we know the rules, we re ready to have so much fun together. Today we re going to be jungle explorers! Doesn t it feel and look kind of like a jungle in here? Do This: Point to some of the jungle items on the stage. & Monkey and lion sounds Here in the jungle, we ll be exploring something called the Fruit of the Spirit. Usually when we hear the word fruit, we think about fruit that we eat, but this kind of fruit is different. The Fruit of the Spirit is not fruit that you eat. The Fruit of the Spirit is what God calls some of the good things he gives us when we follow and learn about him and his Son, Jesus. 5
Last week, we learned about a Fruit of the Spirit called faithfulness, which means believing in and trusting that God is real and that he loves you! Today, we ll be learning about a fruit called patience. Can you say patience? PATIENCE! Patience means being able to stay calm and not get angry or upset when we re waiting for something. Value 0:30 When we re patient and use the special fruits that God gives us, it can help us make wise choices and live our lives for God! Can you repeat these words after me? I can be who God made me to be. I CAN BE WHO GOD MADE ME TO BE. Awesome! Worship 3:00 God loves you so much, and he loves to hear us sing to him. Right now, let s all stand up and sing a song together. And guess what? God is listening! Song 1: Better Than the Best Thing Bible Adventure 6:00 (Auto advance) Super singing, everyone! You can sit down now. Our friend, Tweet, has a message for us. Take a look at the screen! Tweet Letter Video (Auto advance) It sounds like Tweet sent us a Tweetergram all the way from the forest over the jungle. But I wonder where it is? IN THE MAILBOX! Good thinking, Kid Os! But where is the mailbox? Do This: Have kids help direct you to the mailbox. You can make this silly by pretending you can t find it. Once you ve found it, open up the mailbox and take out the weekly letter. Read the letter out loud. The content is below for your reference. 6
Thanks for your help, friends. Here s the Tweetergram! I ll read it to you. Hello Kid Os! I need your help. I know that the Fruit of the Spirit is not fruit that you eat; it s the good things God puts in our lives when we choose to follow him. Today s fruit is patience, but here is my problem I don t know how to use this fruit! You have some items in the boxes on your stage that will help you learn more about using patience. Do the activities and answer any questions from inside the boxes. If you do that and earn all four fruit cards, we will learn how to use patience together! Sincerely, Tweet Oh, look! Tweet also sent us these fruit cards to put on our boxes. They ll help us see what fruit we ve earned! Do This: Hold up the fruit cards. Should we look inside box number one? YES! I agree. Do This: Take out the Bible and Bible storybook from box #1 and hold them up for the Kid Os to see. It looks like our first activity is to go on an adventure...a Bible Adventure! Bible Adventure Jingle Kid Os, are the words and the stories in the Bible real or pretend? REAL! That is right. The Bible is God s true Word, so we know this story really happened. The story you are about to hear comes from the Bible, but we re going to read it from our storybook because the pictures help us imagine what it might have looked like back when the Bible was written. Let s get started! Do This: Have kids help you turn the pages on the screen with an exaggerated arm wave throughout the story. Picture 1: Hannah looking very sad 7
There once was a woman named Hannah who did not have any children. Hannah really wanted to be a mom and have a baby, but she just kept waiting and waiting. One of Hannah s family members would tease her about not having any babies. This was not a nice thing to do, and it made Hannah very sad. Even though Hannah really wanted a baby, she chose to be patient. She knew that God was with her and that she could talk to him. Picture 2: Hannah praying at the temple One day Hannah went to the temple, which is kind of like the churches we have today. When she got there, she started to pray. Can you fold your hands and bow your heads like you re praying too? Here is what Hannah prayed about: Dear God, See how sad I am. Please give me a baby boy. If you do, I will let him work for you, God. He will learn all about you. Amen. Praying is a great thing to do when we re waiting for something and trying to be patient. And you know what? God answered Hannah s prayers by giving her a little baby boy! Picture 3: Hannah holding Samuel The baby was named Samuel. Remember, Hannah promised that she would let Samuel do important work for God. So, when Samuel was a little bit older, Hannah brought him to a priest. A priest is someone who teaches people about God and his true words. Hannah knew that this priest could help Samuel learn how to do God s special work. But Hannah s story does not end there. Picture 4: Hannah holding two babies with kids playing in the house God gave Hannah five more babies, so she had six babies total! Can you hold up six fingers? Hannah was patient and waited a long time for a baby. She was so happy to have one baby, so imagine how happy she must have been to have even more babies! Sometimes when we re patient, God gives us something even better than what we were waiting for in the first place. Awesome job listening to our story, Kid Os! We completed the first activity by going on our Bible Adventure. That means we earned a fruit card! 8
Do This: Remove the #1 from the first box and replace it with the apple card. We re going to earn more fruit cards and learn how we can have the fruit of patience like Hannah did a little bit later. Right now, it s time to practice something do you remember what we practice here in Kid O Deo? OUR MEMORY VERSE! Memory Verse 3:00 Memory Verse Jingle (Auto advance Memory Verse) Galatians 5:22 23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. Kid Os, it s time for us to practice our Bible Memory Verse! It s longer than most other verses we learn here, but I think you can still memorize it. This verse helps us learn about all nine Fruits of the Spirit. Which fruit are we learning about today? PATIENCE! That s right, and we ll keep learning about more fruits over the next few weeks. Everyone stand up because it s time to practice! Do This: Practice the memory verse. Great job practicing our Bible Memory Verse and learning about the Fruit of the Spirit! Worship 2:00 Everyone stay on your feet because we have another song to sing! This song is called Love One Another. We learned from our Memory Verse that love is another fruit that God gives us! Song 2: Love One Another Application 4:00 (Auto advance) That song helps us learn lots of ways we can use the Fruit of the Spirit by loving and being kind to others. So cool! You can sit down. 9
Remember, we are trying to earn fruit cards by learning about the Fruit of the Spirit from the objects in these boxes! Let s see what s inside box number two. Do This: Take the baby doll out from box #2 and hold it up. What s this? A BABY DOLL! I think this baby doll means that we re supposed to talk about our Bible Adventure because Hannah from our story really wanted a baby. Did she eventually get a baby? YES! Yes, God gave her six babies, but she had to wait awhile. What fruit did Hannah use in today s Bible Adventure while she waited? PATIENCE! That s right, and your answer earned us our second fruit card! Do This: Remove the #2 from the second box and replace it with the grapes card. We still need two more fruit cards, so let s see what s in the next box! Do This: Take the problem picture out from box #3 and hold it up. Mom preparing food It looks like we have a problem picture to solve. The question that goes with the picture is on this card. I ll read it to you. Do This: Read the problem written on the note. The content on the note is below for your reference. Noah s mom is making lunch. Noah is getting really hungry, and it seems like his mom is taking a long time to get his food ready to eat. How can Noah be patient? Choice #1: Complain to his mom and stomp his feet. Choice #2: Keep playing with his toys until his mom tells him that lunch is ready. All right friends, which is the better choice? Choice one or two? TWO. That s right! It can be really hard to be patient when we want something, but God will give us the fruit of patience if we love and follow his Son, Jesus! There are probably lots of times during your week that you can practice using patience. You might have to wait in line at the store or wait your turn to play with a toy. Sometimes we get the things we want right away, but when we don t, we need to be patient. God can help us stay calm and not get upset, even when we have to wait a very long time. I m so glad that God will help us be patient! You know what? By talking about the problem picture, we earned our third fruit card! Do This: Remove the #3 from the third box and replace it with the orange card. 10
We only need one more fruit card! Should we see what s inside box number four? YES! Do This: Take the giant banana out from box #4 and hold it up. What is this? A BANANA! Yes, it s a giant banana with a note that says to Peel, Eat, and Go Bananas! Do This: In the following paragraph, demonstrate the peel, eat, and go bananas actions for the kids. Be exaggerated and silly in your movements. After you shout Let s Go Bananas, just dance like crazy for about 10 seconds or until the music stops. Background jungle sounds/monkey noises Adjust volume so you can still hear the teacher talking Here s how this works. We re all going to look around and listen to sounds in the jungle. Do you hear those monkeys and jungle sounds? Now reach up and grab a banana from a tall banana tree. Does everyone have their banana? Now peel your banana! Keep peeling your banana! Now it s time to eat your banana! Nom nom nom! And the last part of the instructions is to go bananas! Going bananas basically means we re going to dance like crazy, but remember to stay in your spot! Everyone stand up, but be ready to sit back down right away when the music stops. Let s Go BANANAS! Crazy dance music Readjust volume if needed Great job, Kid Os! You can sit down. Guess what? We earned our last fruit card! This one seems like it was probably just for fun, but we love having fun here in Kid O Deo! Do This: Remove the #4 from the fourth box and replace it with the banana card. We did it! We earned all four fruit cards. That reminds me I hope Tweet has been listening as we ve been learning about patience. Tweet? Are you there? Tweet cheering Tweet says, Here I am! Thanks for helping me learn how to be patient! You re tweeterific! 11

He wants you to talk to Him because He loves you so much! God definitely deserves our respect too. Everyone please be respectful of God and others while we pray. You can fold your hands in your lap and close your eyes so you re not distracted and are only thinking about the words you are saying to God.
