Hymn Do Lord, Oh Do Lord, Oh Do Remember Me Julia Ward Howe Band sings verses Chorus - Do Lord, Oh do Lord, Oh do remember me, Do Lord, Oh do Lord, Oh do remember me, Do Lord, Oh do Lord, Oh do remember me, Look away beyond the blue. 2 Welcome to Worship at St. Andrew s Our mission: Proclaim Jesus Christ, Live in Christ, Serve! Leaning In: Words of Life This summer we will be leaning in to Christ s life giving words in the Gospel of Mark. So lean in and hear God s words of life for you, our community and the world! Prelude Your Best Is Yet to Come Louis Armstrong / Lyrics - Tom Andrews We gather in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Confession and Forgiveness God of mercy and consolation, come to the help of your people, turning us from our sin to live for you alone. Give us the power of your Holy Spirit that we may confess our sins, receive your forgiveness, and grow into the fullness of Jesus Christ, our Savior, and Lord. Let us confess our sin in the presence of God and one another. Silence is kept for reflection. There s no need to fear, so be of good cheer. Let everyone hear Jesus Christ is risen. Fear of the grave need not make us numb Thanks to Jesus, your best is yet to come. Cause on the other side, the gates are open wide So let us shout with pride Jesus Christ is risen. I m as grateful as I can be, Jesus Christ is risen for me.

Gracious God, have mercy on us. We confess that we have turned from you in thought, word, and deed by what we have done and by what we have left undone. Turn us again to you, and uphold us by your Spirit, so that we may live and serve you in newness of life through Jesus Christ, our Savior, and Lord. God, who is rich in mercy, loved us even when we were dead in sin and made us alive with Christ. By grace, you have been saved. In the name of Jesus Christ, your sins are forgiven. Almighty God strengthen you with power through the Holy Spirit, that Christ may live in your hearts through faith. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. And also with you. Prayer of the Day Holy Creator, you renew our minds daily and transform us by your great love. Mend the broken places in us that distract us away from you. Heal our hearts so we may see you clearly and proclaim your goodness to the ends of the earth. In your name Jesus, we pray. Hymn Amazing Grace 1. Amazing grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me! I once was lost, but now am found; was blind, but now I see. 2. Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, and grace my fears relieved; how precious did that grace appear the hour I first believed! 3. Through many dangers, toils, and snares I have already come; tis grace has brought me safe thus far, and grace will lead me home. 4. The Lord has promised good to me; his word my hope secures; he will my shield and portion be as long as life endures. 5. When we ve been there ten thousand years, Bright shining as the sun We ve no less days to sing God s praise Than when we d first begun. 3

Lesson Romans 12:1-8 I appeal to you therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God what is good and acceptable and perfect. For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of yourself more highly than you ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. For as in one body we have many members, and not all the members have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually we are members one of another. We have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us: prophecy, in proportion to faith; ministry, in ministering; the teacher, in teaching; the exhorter, in exhortation; the giver, in generosity; the leader, in diligence; the compassionate, in cheerfulness. WE INVITE CHILDREN TO DOCK AT THIS TIME Please make sure your child is wearing a nametag with name and grade level. ************* See FRONT OF INSERT for Pickup Locations ************** Anthem Sermonette Psalm 138 I give you thanks, O Lord, with my whole heart; before the gods I sing your praise; I bow down toward your holy temple and give thanks to your name for your steadfast love and your faithfulness; for you have exalted your name and your word above everything. On the day I called, you answered me, you increased my strength of soul. All the kings of the earth shall praise you, O Lord, for they have heard the words of your mouth. They shall sing of the ways of the Lord, for great is the glory of the Lord. For though the Lord is high, he regards the lowly; but the haughty he perceives from far away. 4

Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve me against the wrath of my enemies; you stretch out your hand, and your right hand delivers me. The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever. Sacrament of Holy Baptism 10:30 Brooks David Menne Child of Kathryn and Michael Menne Apostles Creed I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Hymn In the Garden 1. Band 2. He speaks and the sound of his voice Is so sweet the birds hush their singing. And the melody that he gave to me Within my heart is ringing. And he walks with me and he talks with me And he tells me I am his own. And the joy we share as we tarry there None other has ever known. 5

Holy Gospel Mark 8:26-30 (spoken) Glory to you, O Lord. The disciples came to Bethsaida. Some people brought a blind man to Jesus and begged him to touch him. He took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village; and when he had put saliva on his eyes and laid his hands on him, he asked him, Can you see anything? And the man looked up and said, I can see people, but they look like trees, walking. Then Jesus laid his hands on his eyes again; and he looked intently and his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly. Then he sent him away to his home, saying, Do not even go into the village. Jesus went on with his disciples to the villages of Caesarea Philippi; and on the way he asked his disciples, Who do people say that I am? And they answered him, John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; and still others, one of the prophets. He asked them, But who do you say that I am? Peter answered him, You are the Messiah. And he sternly ordered them not to tell anyone about him. (spoken) Praise to you, O Christ. Sermon You are... I AM Intern Pastor Jenny Sung Offering Sweet, Sweet Spirit Prayers of the Church Words of Institution for the Sacrament of Holy Communion The Lord s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. 6 We believe that Jesus Christ is truly present in the bread and wine and grants us the gift of God s grace and forgiveness. All are welcome to receive this gift. White grape juice is available upon request. Gluten-free wafers are available at all stations at the front of the Sanctuary.

Blessing and Sending of Intern Pastor Carolyn Staats Benediction The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you.
