Isaiah 6:8 And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?" Then I said, "Here am I! Send me." Send Me is an annual one day servant event organized by Abiding Savior Lutheran Church in St. Louis, Missouri. The 2013 event on October 19 th is the 6 th Send Me and features 285 servants volunteering on 29 teams in the St. Louis area. Four goals exist for this event: To encourage people to serve (We love it when families serve together!) To encourage people to have fun while volunteering To encourage people to be stretched while volunteering (through new experiences and people) To encourage people to grow in their relationships (with the people they are serving, with their team members and with Jesus Christ) In addition to serving during the day, all volunteers participate in a morning worship service, a short Bible study at lunch and an evening celebration meal/time of sharing. Where do people serve during the day of the event? We partner with local ministries, social service agencies, schools and churches. We also assist friends and members of Abiding Savior who are in need. We offer a barbecue during the day in the parking lot of Abiding Savior, with proceeds going to the church s various mission efforts. In addition, we have an outreach team that performs a variety of random acts of kindness throughout the day to bless members of the local community with the love and light of Jesus Christ. I encourage you to take some time to read this booklet to understand the various ways we served in our community for this year s Send Me event. I also hope this booklet provides you a source to tap into when you are looking for somewhere to serve in the future. College Care Packages Reaching out to our members who are in college.
