A Word from the President We are excited that you are checking out the possibility of studying with us at iteach Institute. We are living in a very challenging, yet exciting, period of world history. There is a great need for Christians, like yourself, to be ready and able to reach out and impact the world around us with the good news of Jesus, the Prince of Peace. There are unprecedented opportunities and ways by which to shine this message of truth, hope, and peace into the dark world in which we live. Let us help you be ready to take advantage of these new and exciting opportunities to reach and teach as many Believers as possible. The fact that you are now reading this catalog indicates that you are willing to be part of God s solution to this great need for well-trained Christian teachers. We believe that God has raised up iteach Institute to better equip teachers like you, whether you teach in a private or public school, a Sunday school, youth ministry, or some other ministry in the local church. Our Bible courses will increase your understanding of God s eternal Word and strengthen your faith. They will also give you a stronger Christian worldview which will, in turn, enable you to integrate more of God s truth into your classroom. Our educational courses will guide you in developing your own philosophy of Christian teaching, as well as pass on some powerful teaching methods and skills that will empower you to effectively put that philosophy into practice in any teaching context that you find yourself in. Please prayerfully consider letting us help train you how to teach for life change, whether it s through one of our onsite courses held within the region or via our online courses. This brief catalog has been prepared to give you an overview of our Master of Arts in Christian Education program, as well as the individual courses that we offer. It will also inform you how to enroll and join our ever-expanding family of students. We trust that you will take the time to read through these pages and consider whether God is guiding you to consider applying to iteach Institute. Seeking God s best for you, Dr. David Martin President of iteach Institute P.S. You can get a glimpse of what our courses are like by visiting our home page at www.iteachinstitute.org and clicking on the link English Sample Class that will take you to our online sample modules. When the Moodle page appears, click the link that says log in as a guest and follow the instructions given for logging in. 2

A Brief History of iteach Institute iteach Institute was started in 2010 in an effort to provide affordable quality education for Christians wanting to teach God s truth in the church or private Christian schools. Dr. David Martin, the founder, had been training teachers in the Middle East since 1985 in various countries from Morocco to India. Over the years, he has become increasingly burdened for the thousands of Christians in the Arab world who, for one reason or another, are not able to attend a residential program of study. In 2010, iteach Institute began developing its program in a distance learning format, in order to make these classes accessible to anyone with an internet connection. All of the courses that we offer were first taught in live classroom situations and recorded so that they could be developed into online courses. This now opens up the door for more students to benefit from them. Now iteach Institute continues to offer a blended approach to studying in the field of Bible and Christian education. We do conduct live courses at various schools and seminaries in the Levant, as well as in an online format. By 2018, we hope to be able to offer all of our M.A.C.E. courses online for those who do not have the time or ability to take live face-to-face classes. Thank you for considering joining this ongoing story of God shining His grace and goodness into the Arab world. To Him be the glory for all that has been accomplished and all that is to come through the faculty that God is raising up to serve with iteach! 3

Statement of Faith 1. We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative, inerrant Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21). 2. We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:1; Matthew 28:19; John 10:30). 3. We believe in the deity of Christ (John 10:33), His virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23; Luke 1:35) His sinless life (Hebrews 4:15; 7:26) His miracles (John 2:11) His vicarious and atoning death (1 Corinthians 15:3; Ephesians 1:7; Hebrews 2:9) His resurrection (John 11:25; 1 Corinthians 15:4) His ascension to the right hand of God (Mark 16:19) His personal return in power and glory (Acts 1:11; Revelation 19:11). 4. We believe in the absolute necessity of regeneration by the Holy Spirit for salvation because of the exceeding sinfulness of human nature and that men are justified on the single ground of faith in the shed blood of Christ and that only by God s grace and through faith alone are we saved (John 3:16-19; 5:24; Romans 3:23; 5:8-9; Ephesians 2:8-10; Titus 3:5). We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life, and they that are lost unto the resurrection of condemnation (John 5:28-29). We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 2:12-13; Galatians 3:26-28). We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life (Romans 8:13-14; 1 Corinthians 3:16; 6:19-20; Ephesians 4:30; 5:18). We have adopted the Statement of Faith of the Association of Christian Schools International. 4

The Purpose of iteach Institute iteach Institute exists to provide affordable, convenient, and accessible graduate-level courses to better equip Christian teachers for effective teaching in schools or churches throughout the Arab world. Note that some courses cannot be taken until prerequisite courses have been successfully completed. Please check our website for new courses that are continually being developed (www.iteachinstitute.org). 3. iteach offers a Master of Arts in Christian Education Students who are accepted into this program of study will take the program that is outlined in this catalog. The exact sequence of courses that you take may vary, according to your previous studies, experience, and areas of interest. However, your sequence will be determined by the administration of iteach Institute. 4. iteach partners with other seminaries iteach looks to partner with like-minded institutions that you may already be enrolled in. We have been approved as an associate member of A.T.A. (Asia Theological Association), which is an accrediting association for theological education with 295 member institutions in 34 countries. We have applied for membership in M.E.A.T.E. (Middle East Association for Theological Education). 5

Testimonies of iteach Students and Partners National schools deliver an Islamic-based curriculum in Arabic, using rote memory as the only teaching strategy.... Small Christian schools just like ours have sprung up to provide a Christian education in English, using American and British style interactive teaching strategies. We canvas for volunteer teachers from English-speaking countries, but the supply never really covers the demand. Many want to volunteer, but most are not qualified teachers. Also, the governments of the countries want to ensure that their nationals are employed, so it becomes difficult to get work permits for foreigners. Hiring local national teachers is problematic. They do not have an educational paradigm for western-style education, nor the training needed. Busy, understaffed administrators in these budget-challenged schools do not possess the time or resources to train interested nationals and volunteers. iteach provides a budget-friendly, quality option for English-speaking volunteers and Arab nationals. Having the courses available in Arabic units is key to full understanding for the local hires. There is no other program out there that I know of that fills this need. -Dr. Julia Nuqul Principal, Whitman Academy Thanks for your efforts and your outstanding passion to teach us not only knowledge, but also morals and attitudes. We have learned a lot! -Arab pastor in Canada I strongly believe that the future of higher education lies within online learning. Unfortunately, in the Arab world, the online courses are still behind.... From my own experience as a principal at the Alliance Academy of Jordan, Arab teachers and educators now find themselves with other obligations beyond that of getting a degree. Jobs and family commitments make equal demands on their time. Having the option of taking iteach online classes solves not only the time challenge, but also removes the financial burden that they would suffer from if they pursued a degree in any university. -Mrs. Carol Jedoun Principal, Alliance Academy of Jordan I really like studying with iteach because I can fit it into my own busy schedule as a mother, wife, and teacher. -Religion teacher in a Jordan private school 6

Course Descriptions Education Courses: CE 210/510 Marriage and the Family (3 hours) This is a course that will help you take a close look at God s design for marriage and the family. Not only will you discover biblical principles for your marriage and parenting, but you will also learn many practical insights that will help you know how to put them into daily practice. You, your spouse, and your children will benefit from your study of this course. CE 225/525 Foundational Instructional Strategies (3 hours) This course is designed to give you an overview of the seven elements involved in every instructional setting. You will not only get a fresh look at each of these elements, but you will also receive several important practices to follow in each of these areas that will enable you to teach at a more effective level, which should result in a higher level of learning for your students. CE 230/550 The Seven Laws of Teaching (3 hours) This course examines seven of the most essential areas of teaching and lays out several guidelines or laws that produce predictable results in each of these areas. Thus, this course gives any school teacher a great introduction on how he/she can teach any subject more effectively to students of any age. By the time this course is over, you will have a firm grasp of what needs to happen to the teacher, learner, lesson, communication, teaching process, learning process, review and assessment. These laws will guide your teaching for the rest of your teaching career. CE 320/620 Learning Styles and Teaching Methods (3 hours) Welcome to a course that is designed to help you understand how your students learn best. The first half of this course will give you a working knowledge of four basic learning styles that your students bring into the classroom. These learning styles reflect how a student is most effective at taking in and processing the information that you are presenting. The second half of the course will then help you to become familiar with a wide variety of teaching methods that can help you deliver your lesson content in ways that affirm students from each of these four styles. This will enable your teaching to have a far greater impact and cause a deeper level of learning. Both you and your students will benefit from what you learn in this course. 10

CE 350/550 Educational Ministries in the Church (3 hours) In this course, you will discover the nature and purpose that God has set for your local church to fulfill. You will also develop a statement of purpose to guide your church or individual ministry in achieving its educational mandate from God. Additionally, you will spend time examining various possible ministries that could be developed, organized, and maintained in your church for different age groups in order to help you better achieve your statement of purpose. Emphasis will also be placed on investigating what curriculum and parachurch organizations are available locally to help your ministries to be more effective. CE 400/600 The Teacher s Toolbox (3 hours; for Christian school teachers) The key to success in any vocation is having and using the right tools for the job whether it s construction, surgery, or teaching. This course has been created to enhance your understanding of some of the most effective tools that you can use to cause learning in the lives of your students. The focus is not just on explaining these tools, but on providing you with practical suggestions on how you can put them into practice immediately right in your own classroom. CE 430/630 Discipling Others Effectively (3 hours) This course is designed to deepen your understanding of the Good News that leads to a relationship with God, as well as how to share that good news with others. You will also develop a deeper comprehension of how to help students of all ages through the process of spiritual growth. Emphasis is placed on studying out several key discipleship topics, as well as developing practical teaching tools that you can use to lead your students into the application of these truths. CE 450/650 Developing a Philosophy of Christian Education (3 hours) Unfortunately, many teachers do not realize the importance of formulating a Christian philosophy of education that can guide their teaching in the school or church, nor have they taken the time to write such a philosophy. This is a serious omission since such a philosophy tries to explain what you should be doing in your teaching ministry, as well as why you should be doing it. That is why this is a capstone course in your M.A.C.E. program at iteach, helping you to think back through all that you have been learning about the teaching-learning process and guide you in developing what you believe are the essential beliefs and practices in ten specific areas of teaching: Theological foundations for Christian education, values in education, the goal in teaching, curriculum, teachers in Christian education, teaching methods, learners, the learning environment, the programs in Christian education, and evaluation. CE 700 Introduction to College Level Teaching (3 hours) The main focus of this course is to introduce you to the process of designing and teaching a course at the college level. You will become acquainted with what the Bible and educational research has to say about effective teaching and learning, and you will systematically follow the steps introduced in this course to design a specific college-level course. 11

Bible Courses: BI 338/638 Bible Backgrounds (3 hours) This is a course that can give you a whole new perspective on your study of the Bible. This course will seek to integrate insights from four different fields of study as it literally takes you from Genesis to Revelation, showing how God often used the features of the land, as well as the people living in it, to actually help shape what took place there. You will learn more of why God chose this tiny spot out of the entire world to reveal more about Himself and build a covenant people for the purpose of declaring Him to the nations. What you learn will deepen your understanding of both the Old and New Testaments, as well as help you to know better how to apply it to your life today. BI 325/625 Studies in 1 and 2 Kings (3 hours) One of the most devastating events in the history of God s people was the civil war that divided the nation into two kingdoms. This course is designed to guide you through these events, as well as acquaint you with the kings who ruled from the time of Solomon until both the Northern and Southern Kingdoms were exiled. Each of the sessions will focus on the theological lessons and principles for living that are discovered from the lives of the kings who are studied in detail. God gave us this record so that we need not repeat their mistakes. Your life will be changed if you approach this course with an open and teachable heart. BI 335/535 Proverbs: Our Guidebook for Life Today (3 hours) Proverbs, more than any other book of the Bible, was written for training young people. Emphasis in this course is given to how to present these timeless values and principles in relevant ways to today s youth. You will learn how to guide teens into practical applications that will help them gain the wisdom that Proverbs offers. BI 385/585 Studies in Exodus (3 hours) In the New Testament, the most cited example of God s omnipotence was the resurrection of Jesus Christ. In the Old Testament, the most cited example of God s power was the Red Sea crossing. This course will help you get a close look at God s awesome power which is not only seen through Moses leading two million people across the Red Sea on dry land, but in watching Jehovah wage war on all of the gods of Egypt in order to redeem His people from centuries of slavery. This course will guide you into a better understanding of who God is and how He wants you to represent Him in the place that He has put you. Begin to get a deeper knowledge of the God who redeemed you from the slavery of sin! BI 485/685 Understanding the Parables of Jesus (3 hours) Some of the most beloved teachings of Jesus are found in the parables that He gave. Although parables had been used by others, Jesus certainly lifted this method of teaching to a new level. Join us in taking a closer look at many of these parables so that you can get a deeper understanding of the truth that Jesus packed into these timeless stories. 12
