St. Kilian Catholic Church Page 7 Are you (or someone you know) interested in becoming Catholic? Beautiful hand-made olive wood religious articles made by Catholic families in Bethlehem and Jerusalem will be on sale the weekend of November the 18 th and 19th after all masses. Bethlehem Artworks is a non-profit organization that provides assistance to over 100 plus suffering families each week. Please stop by our tables and take a look at our beautiful handmade rosaries, statues, crosses and nativities. They will make a wonderful present for family and friends; or an opportunity to add a beautiful hand carved religious item for your home to be cherished through generations. The religious articles are made by the suffering Christian families in the Holy-Land, and are their means of spreading the word of Jesus, a goal that began two thousand years ago. The population in the Holy Land has dropped from over 65% to under 2% just within the last ten years. Crafting the religious articles is the primary means for providing for the livelihood of Christian families in the Holy Land. On the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month from 7-8 p.m. in the Parish Center we will offer an opportunity for those interested to ask questions about the Catholic faith. Page 8 Thirty-Second Sunday in Ordinary Time REVISED Mass Intentions at St. Kilian Church The practice of requesting a Mass to be offered for loved ones, living or deceased, is a beautiful and wonderful part of our Catholic tradition. In our Parish, there are many requests for scheduling such Mass intentions and it has been impossible for us to meet everyone s requests as we abide by the strict interpretation of Canon Law that allows only one intention per Mass. This has been a heart-breaking message (especially for our Front Office staff) to give to a parishioner when he or she finds out that we can t accommodate the request. We, the clergy and the staff, are always striving to accommodate your requests and help you in your faith journey. In that spirit, we relayed our dilemma to the Tribunal and Canonical Services Office at the Diocese. After their review, it was determined that, because we have such a high demand for Mass intentions, we at St. Kilian fall under a pastoral exception and are permitted to have more than one intention per Mass. (See, we are exceptional!) This is GREAT NEWS! If you have a specific date that you would like your Mass intention to be offered, please come to the Parish Office to make your request. We have decided to open the entire 2018 calendar year so that you are able to choose a special anniversary or birthday. We ask that you do not request Masses for the same person more than once a month. Thanks for your patience as we attempt to both abide by the Canonical rules AND allow the flexibility to meet our parishioners needs! Shepherds of CHRIST (SoC) Come and help us celebrate the 2nd HUNDRED years of the Fatima apparition. The monthly prayer meeting will be held on Monday, November 13th at 6:20 PM (normal time) in our Church. Christ LOVES us beyond our understanding. "Come, please come to Me. I am so loving. I have so many gifts to give you. I forgive the greatest of sins and you are made free and filled with such love. Come, oh open your gates to Me." (God's Blue Book 1, p. 119) Help us protect our priests from the evil one with YOUR prayers. Questions? Call Emilie Dillingham 830-9727, or Ken Herberger 379-9130. Page 10 Thirty-Second Sunday in Ordinary Time ALL SAINTS VIGIL DAY MASS and TRUNKS or TREATS SAINTS and future Saints-here, there and everywhere! Did you see that beautiful light shining from the top of St. Kilian hill on Tuesday October 31... Well, it was coming from each and every child and adult that attended and participated in our All Saints Day Vigil Mass and Celebration! We had a great crowd of people, babies to eighties, attend our special Children s Mass and afterwards the children visited and received treats from the 15 tricked out trunks. Thanks to EVERYONE for supporting and participating in this special Mass and event especially all of our Liturgical Ministers. Our RE kids did an excellent job proclaiming the Word, singing, serving and bringing up the gifts during Mass. We are so grateful to our parents, grandparents and parishioners for their donations and participation. Our CONFIRMATION STUDENTS did a terrific job supervising the parking lot, cooking and serving our refreshments, making crafts, handing out treats and helping clean up. These young people are outstanding role models for our children and we are so appreciative of their enthusiastic participation. It really felt like a Family of Faith joining together to celebrate our lives as Catholic Christians. We look forward to many other special events where we can let our light shine so that all can see the Glory of God reflected in all that we do!
