Dennis visits Big Meadows once a month now with his guitar and entertains all of Big Meadows residents. Before his show he comes and has lunch with the residents and spends most of his afternoon here at Big Meadows. Connect the famous couples! These couples are in famous love stories. Savanna s River City Reader Page 2 Big Meadows Highlights A On the morning of December 23rd, 2015 Big Meadows was visited by the Santa for Seniors organization. We are very lucky to have such a wonderful group of people that help make Christmas wonderful for our residents. Santa for Seniors make sure every resident gets gifts for Christmas. Pictured below are as follows: (A) The Santa for Seniors volunteers next to the lobby Christmas tree; (B) The gifts for our residents in the trailer; (C) Big Meadows Residents waiting for the Christmas party to start; (D) The Christmas tree in the lobby surrounded by gifts for the residents; (E) Carol Perrin with her present, a beautiful blanket; and (F) Rosemary Shafer opening her present. We thank Santa for Seniors for helping bring the Christmas spirit to Big Meadows. B C E D F

The menu consists of Spaghetti and meatballs, garlic bread, tossed salad, and cheesecake for dessert. Please remember to RSVP by Monday February 8th. So far Big Meadows has collected 50lbs in plastic lids. Please keep saving them and keep up the good work! Big Meadows Monthly Community Coffee will be held on Wednesday, February 10th in the main Dining Room at 9:30am. Everyone is invited to come and enjoy coffee, a donut, and conversation. Big Meadows Highlights Continued. On the afternoon of December 23rd, Big Meadows had their annual Christmas Party for the residents and we had a very special guest show up, Santa Claus! Savanna s River City Reader Page 4 Connections Highlights On December 23rd, Santa for Seniors brought Christmas joy to the Connections Unit. We thank this organization for helping and donating their time to bringing so much joy to all of our residents. To the left is Mary Yenney opening her present. Below is Shirley Hill opening her Christmas present. Below to the right is Gerald Steeg opening his present with help from the Connections Unit Coordinator, Dani Wilcox. In the afternoon of December 23rd, the Connections Unit held their Christmas party where Santa came and delivered gifts to our residents and visited with us during his busy season. Savanna s River City Reader Page 5 Connections Announcements The Connections Unit is getting spring fever. They have dedicated a wall to lets go fly a kite which is pictured to the left. In preparation of Valentine s Day the activity board is decorated with hearts pictured above to the right. Big Meadows Announcements continued... Big Meadows is collecting plastic caps/lids to make a bench for the Connections Unit courtyard. We are going through a company called Green Tree Plastics, LLC. You may have seen some of these benches around. We ask that you start saving and bring what you save to Big Meadows. We need 400 pounds! What does that look like? The caps will fill approximately 10 55 gallon yard waste/trash bags! What items are acceptable and what aren t? Acceptable caps: medicine bottle caps, milk jug caps, detergent caps, hair spray caps, toothpaste tube caps, deodorant caps, drink bottle caps, flip-flop caps (ketchup, mustard), spout caps (mustard), spray paint caps, ointment tube caps, caps with Recycle numbers 2, 4 or 5. Acceptable lids: cottage cheese container lids, mayonnaise jar lids, yogurt lids, peanut butter jar lids, ice cream bucket lids, cool whip container lids, coffee can lids, cream cheese container lids, butter container lids. Never acceptable items: metal or trash of any kid: drink bottles, plastic ziplock bags, trigger sprayers, fast food drink lids, food containers, soap pumps, lotion pumps, grocery bags.
