My Country Tis of Thee Something Bout Believing The text is that of hymn 721. Jazz Sunday Musicians O. Peterson Thomas A. Dorsey Samuel Francis Smith Duke Ellington Something 'bout believing that keeps me unfolding. Something 'bout believing that makes my soul sing. Something 'bout believing that keeps me holding on to God Almighty. Something 'bout believing that helps my mending, something 'bout believing that there's no ending, believing all the way because I'm depending on the God Almighty. I don't light a lamp to see the Sun, Don't need proof of God, because I know that there ain't a-gonna be but One. Something 'bout believing in God s creation, something 'bout believing the incarnation. Something 'bout believing that all our nations are under God Almighty. I want to be hip, I want to be cool, I got to be with it all the way, because I ain't about to be no fool. Something 'bout believing that's greater than pleasure, Something 'bout believing that's more than treasure, Something 'bout believing that's beyond measure, Just one God Almighty. Something 'bout believing that keeps me going, something 'bout believing my faith is growing. Something 'bout believing that keeps me knowing, I'll see God Almighty. Come Sunday Lord, dear Lord above, God almighty, God of love, please look down and see my people through. I believe that God put sun and moon up in the sky. I don't mind the gray skies 'cause they're just clouds passing by. Heaven is a goodness time. A brighter light on high. Do unto others as you would have them do to you. And have a brighter by and by. Lord, dear Lord above, God almighty, God of love, please look down and see my people through. I believe God is now, was then and always will be. With God's blessing we can make it through eternity. Lord, dear Lord above, God almighty, God of love, please look down and see my people through. Ellington

Heather McCuiston, Hser Ku, and Tay Nay Sar. as each is able THE INVITATION TO CHRIST S TABLE Holy Communion is a sacred and central part of Christian worship. It is a holy act, in which we, individually and corporately, commune with the Loving God. We welcome all who desire a deepened relationship with Christ to the Communion table. From time to time, questions arise concerning the participation of young children in this congregation s service of Holy Communion. The Diaconate recognizes that two historic Baptist principles inform this decision. Baptists are set apart from many other Christian traditions by our practice of Believer s Baptism, which signifies full membership in the church. Traditionally, many Baptist churches encourage persons to receive the Communion bread and cup for the first time after they have been baptized. At the same time, our historic insistence on Soul Liberty reminds us that Baptists value and respect each believer s unique and personal relationship with God. The Diaconate thus recommends that all members of Binkley continue to deepen their understanding of the meaning of Holy Communion, and that families enter into a time of discernment concerning when their children are able to appreciate the sacred nature of Communion. We affirm the responsibility of all believers to determine whether and when they and their children will partake of the Communion elements as we all participate in the service of Communion. THE DISCRETIONARY FUND Today you are invited to make a special offering to the Pastor Discretionary Fund. This fund allows Binkley to support our church and community members who are in financial crisis. Earmark any checks Discretionary Fund in the item section. Envelopes are available in the chair racks.

A Peace Lab Thank You Every summer, dedicated volunteers both youth and adults create a loving, fun, and memorable week at Binkley. This year, we learned about how to have peace within, how to live peacefully with our neighbors, and how to further peace with the Earth through sustainable practices. Thanks to all of the many wonderful adult and youth volunteers! Because of your faithfulness, all of the 37 children who attended felt God s love and joy, and learned about the peace God wants for the world. Together, we raised an offering of $316.00 to help our sisters and brothers at Hope Flowers School, south of Bethlehem, to get some much needed new playground/recreational supplies! Thanks be to God!
