Sholosh Seudot Halacha Discussion Several years ago, thieves smashed through the display window of a store and stole money and valuable merchandise. When the police arrived, they found blood splattered across the jagged edges of the smashed window. Clearly, one of the thieves had been wounded while breaking in. The police suspected that it was the work of a crime gang that had committed many robberies in the recent past. Special steps were needed to put an end to their work. The police gave an order to all the hospitals in the area to take bloods samples from anyone who came to get treated for cuts. They could then compare the samples to the blood they found on the broken glass and identify the thieves. In one hospital, the director of the emergency room was a religious Jew who hesitated to carry out the police s instruction. Was he allowed to prick hundreds of innocent patients in order to take their blood samples? Why should they suffer for another person s crime? The doctor quickly sent the question to R Zilberstein shlita for his ruling. What was the final conclusion? Find out the answer during Shalosh Seudah with Rabbi Rothman Request from Rabbi Rothman While I was able to meet with many of you whom requested a private meeting about finding the Golden Path within us, with the passing of my father and some illnesses I went through, I was unable to meet with some of you whom requested to meet. At this time, I want to invite those whom contacted me and any others wishing a private meeting to kindly contact me, and we will meet in the immediate future. Please feel free to call me at 416-876-0691 or email at ravavi@rogers.com EMUNAH SHABBAT 2018 Date: June 2, 2018 at 5:30 p.m. at the BAYT Speaker: RINA DEUTSCH (Topic: Mirror Mirror on the Wall: A Different Perspective on Beauty) Online registration: emunahcanada.org/emunahshabbat

Profiles This week we continue with another edition of PROFILES. This week we spotlight the Bar Mitzvah boy Ari Rothman. TCS: Mazel Tov on your Bar Mitzvah. How are the preparations going? Ari: I mostly feel ready. TCS: After Shavout and all the ice cream and cheesecake, do you still fit into your bar mitzvah suit? Ari: I did not eat that much ice cream so I am good. TCS: Do you have any siblings? a 7-year-old brother Ezra. Ari: I have a 10-year-old sister Devora (pictured with Ari) and TCS: What are you known for in the family? Ari: The all knowing guy, and an occasional smart-alecky guy. TCS: Which school do you attend? Ari: I go to Eitz Chaim on Patricia. TCS: What is your favourite subject in school? Ari: I like Science and Geology. TCS: Why Geology as that is not a subject kids usually favour? Ari: Geology is fascinating because of the way the earth changes. Stuff, fusion, stuff, pressure, more stuff I don t understand (Editor s note: this kid is way too smart for us to follow). TCS: Do you have any hobbies? Ari: I like video games, anime and learning science. Survival adventure games especially. TCS: Do you have a favourite sport? Ari: My favourite sport is probably dodge- ball, then soccer then hockey. TCS: What is the proper choice when choosing vinegar types to put on your French Fries? Ari: None, that sounds gross. However, I really like burgers. TCS: Who makes the best burger? Ari: Howie T s. TCS: Better than your dad s? Ari: His are different. He makes them hard.

TCS: Are you more like your Mom or your Dad? Ari: I am very unique. If pushed to say, probably like my Dad. TCS: Do you feel extra special to have an accountant for a father? Ari: I love my Dad, but his being the son of an accountant is not the thrill you would think it would be. He does help me with math though. TCS: Does he share accounting bulletins as a treat when you are good? Ari: No. TCS: Which parent is tougher? Ari: My dad. TCS: Mom is a softie? Ari: Of course she is. TCS: What are your summer plans? Ari: Camp Segula and as an officially trained and certified babysitter for anyone who is looking for help. TCS: What do you want to be when you grow up? Ari: I would not mind being a scientist. A biochemist in particular. TCS: Something about you, that makes your Abba and Ima proud? Ari: Getting the top score on my exams. Dad: Ari has a good sense of humour, and is quick with the comebacks Mom: Ari has a gentle soul and is wonderful with children TCS: Any shout outs? Ari: Mom you are the best, doing so much for the Bar Mitzvah and putting up with my constant distractions, Dad for helping me through everything, Dani Meisels for being a great Bar Mitzvah teacher and finally the kids in 7T. TCS: So Stuart our president elect is busy this week in intense post-shavout boot camp. [Those calories don t go away on their own, and well let s say that Michelle s cheesecake is TDF (to die for)] While he is shvitzing away, we are making you president for the week. What changes will you make? Ari: For Shavous, having non-melted ice cream. In addition, designate an actual classroom for Dani Meisel s class.
