H O L Y R E D E E M E R A Way to Pray this Week... The gospel reading today challenges us to listen. What does it mean to serve two masters? Our world can be noisy and busy and often the thing we need the most is the thing we don t make time for. Our hearts were made for loving God. We need prayer, regular prayer, to connect with, and reflect on, where God is moving in our own lives. We need to prepare for prayer, setting conditions that are favorable to it. Arranging a time and carving out a place for prayer allows our minds and hearts to be mentally ready for prayer. Test this out. Commit to a regular time and place for prayer in the week ahead. Our Yard Sale once again brought with it great results in raising funds for our roof campaign! With tremendous team work the net profits raised from our June Yard Sale was a grand total of $6,452.58. Thank you to the efforts of our ladies who worked tirelessly ensuring all items were met with approval and ready for display on the day of the sale. Also to the K of C who kept hungry shoppers content so not to miss out on a bargain! To everyone who had a part in this huge event, we salute you! Without your enthusiasm, generosity and perseverance such an accomplishment could not have been possible! Thank You! P A R I S H N E W S Special Notice Re: MASS on Sept. 27th On Tuesday, Sept. 27th the 4:15 Mass will be cancelled due to prior engagements of both our priests. Fr. Peter regretfully will be away that day and Fr. Jackson will be filling in his previous parish of Blind River for a one month duration, beginning Sept. 20th. Together Let us keep both our priests in prayer. Next Social Justice Committee meeting Monday, September 26 at 7 pm. Thinking about joining us come and see! If so, this retreat is for you. Provide for yourself this opportunity to be touched by a God of care and compassion. The Collection for the Needs of the Church in Canada will be held on September 24 & 25, 2016. In his letter to the parishes across the country, the Most Reverend Douglas Crosby, O.M.I., Bishop of Hamilton and President of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB), recalls that the collection "is an opportunity for all the faithful in our country to give a hand to helping the Gospel." In view of the closing of the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy on Nov. 20, 2016, the Solemnity of Christ the King, Bishop Crosby also notes that the Year of Mercy "is being lived out with joy and commitment throughout our local churches and different communities of faith." 2 Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church
