Welcome Judith Diltz, PHJC Procession Opening Song Canticle of the Sun

Gloria Mass of Wisdom Steven R. Janco

Opening Prayer Loving God, You called Blessed Catherine to serve you in a life of poverty and humility and to show your love through service to the poor, the sick and the children. By the help of her prayers, grant that we may be strengthened in faith in order to dedicate ourselves to works of love. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

Reading I Phil 3: 7-14 Those things I used to consider as gain I have now reappraised as loss in the light of Christ. I have come to rate all as loss in the light of the surpassing knowledge of my Lord Jesus Christ. For his sake, I have forfeited everything; I have accounted all else rubbish so that Christ may be my wealth and I may be in him, not having any justice on my own based on observance of the law. The justice I possess is that which comes through faith in Christ. It has its origin in God and is based on faith. I wish to know Christ and the power flowing from his resurrection; likewise to know how to share in his sufferings by being born into the pattern of his death. Thus do I hope that I may arrive at the resurrection of the dead. It is not that I have reached it yet or have already finished my course; but I am racing to grasp the prize if possible since I have been grasped by Christ Jesus. I do not think of myself as having reached the finish line. I give no thought to what lies behind but push on to what lies ahead. My entire attention is on the finish line as I run toward the prize to which God calls me life on high in Christ Jesus. The Word of the Lord Look upon yourselves as one family; side with one another, sacrifice yourselves for one another, and share with one another joy and sorrow. Blessed Catherine Kasper

Psalm You Are All We Have Verses 1. Protect me, Lord; I come to you for safety. I say, You are my God. All good things, Lord, all good things that I have come from you, the God of my salvation. 2. How wonderful are your gifts to me, how good they are! I praise the Lord who guides me and teaches me the way of truth and life. 3. You are near, the God I seek. Nothing can take me from your side. All my days I rest secure; you will show me the path that leads to life. Text: Francis O Brien, b. 1958 Tune: Francis O Brien, b. 1958 1992, GIA Publications, Inc.

Reading II 1 Cor 9: 16-19, 22-23 Brothers and sisters: If I preach the gospel, this is no reason for me to boast, for an obligation has been imposed on me, and woe to me if I do not preach it! If I do so willingly, I have a recompense, but if unwillingly, then I have been entrusted with a stewardship. What then is my recompense? That, when I preach, I offer the gospel free of charge so as not to make full use of my right in the gospel. Although I am free in regard to all, I have made myself a slave to all so as to win over as many as possible. To the weak I became weak, to win over the weak. I have become all things to all, to save at least some. All this I do for the sake of the gospel, so that I too may have a share in it. The Word of the Lord Gospel Acclamation Mass of Wisdom Steven R. Janco

Gospel Luke 1: 39-46 During those days Mary set out and traveled to the hill country in haste to a town of Judah, where she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary s greeting, the infant leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit, cried out in a loud voice and said, Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. And how does this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy. Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled. And Mary said Holy is His Name John Michael Talbot

Mary remained with her about three months and then returned to her home. Reflection Sister Cathy Schwemer, PHJC Poor Handmaids renew vows. I vow to you, Blessed Trinity, to live in the spirit of Christ - poor, chaste and obedient. Give to me and to all Poor Handmaids the grace to be effective in the service of the Church for the salvation of the world. Amen. Associates renew their Commitment. As Associates in the Spiritual Family of Catherine, In the presence of all gathered here today, we commit ourselves as Associates, part of the three expressions in the Spiritual Family of Blessed Catherine. As Associates we yield to the Spirit who forms us in Gospel values of prayer, simplicity, community, openness to the Spirit, and dignity and respect for all, as modeled by Blessed Catherine Kasper. As Associates we commit to build community and reveal the presence of the Spirit in the world. We commit to be part of this Christian mission which strengthens and encourages us to deepen and celebrate our faith. We commit to live and share the ideals and spirit of Blessed Catherine Kasper among our families, friends, and co-workers, to work for peace and justice by being advocates for the poor and oppressed wherever they may be.

Prayers of the Faithful Leader: God, on this feast day of Blessed Catherine Kasper, we bring our praise and our prayers to You. God of grace and glory, we offer you our praise because you who are mighty have done great things in Catherine Kasper. All: You have regarded her lowliness and, through your Church, declared her Blessed. Leader: Spirit within, you spoke to Catherine Kasper in the silence of her heart. All: Make us attentive to your voice and, with courageous hearts, eager to respond to the needs of our day. Leader: Source of all true joy, you have given us Catherine Kasper as an example of a holy person. All: May all members of the Spiritual Family of Catherine learn to walk in her way of simplicity and trust. Leader: Friend to the poor, you have inspired each of us to imitate the ideals of Blessed Catherine Kasper in her love for the Church and her service to the poor and needy. All: Help us that, like her, we may see and value the dignity of each person we meet.

Leader: Provident God, hear the petitions placed before Blessed Catherine Kasper who, while on Earth, lovingly helped the sick, the needy and all who sought her aid. All: We place all in your loving, provident care. Leader: Gracious God, bless and enrich the lives of all who follow Blessed Catherine Kasper. All: And hear the cause for the canonization of she who desired nothing but to do your holy will in deep humility and simplicity. Liturgy of the Eucharist
