Our organization was founded in the 1880 s by the Venerable Michael J. McGivney in order to meet the needs of poor in the Baltimore area, specifically to provide food, shelter, clothing and financial security and aid for widows and orphans. Since then, the order has grown in its

mission; now serving to support programs that benefit people with intellectual disabilities, lend financial support to programs such as Special Olympics, and support each parish with its spiritual and organizational needs. We are a unique band of brothers with shared values and with the support to live out our Catholic faith more fully. Over the years many parishioners have felt a commitment to help those in need. Their commitment has been strong enough to give their time and themselves to support this worthy cause. They have donated blood and assisted at the July blood drive. Any healthy adult over the age of 17 and who weighs at least 100 lbs. can donate. Each pint donated aids 3 individuals. We hold 5 blood drives each year. February, May, September and November are held at Eisenhower Jr. High and July is held at Our Lady of Peace school gym. For many years the two parishes alternated between them, one parish having it in the fall and the other in the spring. Golden Hands started as a dinner and bingo for seniors - not limited to the two parishes - but is geared for seniors are not able to get out very often. Golden Hands does not charge for the event and the food is donated by the parishioners of both parishes. Art & Environment Leslie Bertram..(630)464-4926 Email: Bertram.leslie@gmail.com The Our Lady of Peace Art and Environment Ministry is a group of parishioners working together to enhance and affirm the worship space of our church, as well as the church s campus. Our goal is to create an amenable environment of prayerful participation, while respectfully maintaining liturgical accuracy. We are responsible for flowers, furnishings, and other environmental objects used in liturgical celebrations. Art and Environment work is often sporadic and seasonal. The ministry welcomes interested parishioners willing to share their time and talents to enhance this work. Children s Liturgy Rissa Loucks.(630)487-1507 Email: Rloucks@olopdarien.org The Children s Liturgy of the Word is offered at the 10:15am Mass on Sundays from September-May. No registration is necessary. All children ages 3-11 are welcome and encouraged to attend. The children are invited to go with weekly leaders to the Church Hall. During this special time, the volunteer teacher leads the children through prayers, songs and readings that are simplified for children. Volunteers are needed to teach the lessons each week, as well as to assist with the supervision of the children. Please contact Rissa if interested in helping.

Choir/Music Ministry John Berardi. (708)828-2138 Email: Jberardi@olopdarien.org Adult Choir Sing with other adult members of our choir during the 10:15am Sunday Mass. All vocal parts are welcome! Cantor leads the congregation in song during the celebration of Mass. Joyful Song Ensemble This group of Contemporary singers minister to our 6:30pm Sunday Mass. They rehearse on Thursday evenings and before 6:30pm Mass. Resurrection Choir This dedicated group of singers ministers at our funeral liturgies, which are usually Monday-Saturday. The choir arrives a half hour before the Mass to warm-up and rehearse. Divine Mercy Heidi Berardi.. Our Lady of Peace hosts a Holy Hour at 3:00pm with the intention to honor and ask for God s mercy. There are many opportunities to assist with the Feast Day preparations. (Romans 15:7) Greeters serve as representatives of the faith community in welcoming parishioners and visitors to the weekend Masses.

Lector of the Word Deacon Frank Vonesh..(708)793-3505 Email: Fvonesh@olopdarien.org Serves the liturgical assembly by proclaiming the sacred scripture during the Liturgy of the Word at Mass with clarity, conviction, dignity and understanding. Expresses reverence and decorum in carrying out this and other aspects of his/her role (including reading of weekly parish announcements and possibly the Prayers of the Faithful). Is faithful to the schedule of assignments and helpful in assuring that all the parish s liturgical assemblies are adequately served with this ministry. Sacristans Larry Krupicka.....(630)985-9882 Prepare and clean up the sacramental articles for celebration. Care for the condition of the entire worship space is crucial, as well as for the vestments, vessels, candles and bread and wine. Ushers Call Parish Rectory... (630)323-4333 x17 Persons or families greet parishioners as they enter church, assist the assembly with seating, the reception of communion and emergency needs. Ushers also take up the collection and distribute bulletins.
