Our Lady of the Assumption takes the trust you place in us seriously and has used previous gifts to support the educational needs of our students, the liturgical and basic necessities of those helped by our charity partners locally, as well as investing in the future of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish. We are grateful to those who have included us in their plan for the distribution of their assets after death. We pray that you will keep Our Lady of the Assumption Parish and/or School in mind. We invite you to contact the Parish Office if you wish to learn more about how you can include us in your estate planning.

REFLECTIONS & JOYFUL OPPORTUNITIES My Dear Friends in Christ, Last September, I arrived at Our Lady of the Assumption not knowing what to expect. While I had attended Mass here a few times, I did not know the community well. Being a seminarian embarking on my pastoral internship, I had many goals in mind, both from the seminary and on a personal level, but I wasn t sure how I would fit into this parish community. Seeking to do the Lord s will, I discovered that He wanted me here at Our Lady of the Assumption. He did not want me here to do some good work, no. In fact, what I take from my time here at the parish amounts to so much more than what I could have ever given. The Spirit brought me here to show me the love of Jesus Christ through all of you. I can, without a doubt, call Our Lady of the Assumption a second home now, and all of you have been Christ in one way or another in my life. With a heavy heart, however, I must say that next weekend, May 13 th -14 th will be my final weekend here at the parish as I prepare to move forward in my formation for the priesthood. I cannot thank you all enough for everything you have done for me this past year: teaching, guiding, and supporting me during this crucial part of my vocational journey. From the joyful volunteers, to the enthusiastic students, to the knowledgeable and Christ-centered staff, to so many others I have encountered but whose names I do not have room for here, you have truly been an example of what it means to love and serve in the name of Jesus Christ. If there is one person I must thank here, however, it is Fr. Eduino. Going from a priest that I hardly knew, to truly showing me what it means to be a pastor, he has demonstrated what it means to be a true servant. His patient guidance, wonderful humor, deep knowledge, and profound wisdom will remain with me for all my years. Thank you, Fr. Eduino, for your mentorship this year, for putting up with all my foibles, and for helping me to grow closer to Jesus Christ. While I am saying farewell for now, this is certainly not goodbye! My newfound OLA family will remain always in my prayers, and I will stop in from time to time. From here, I will begin training in hospital ministry at Sutter General Hospital, and in August, I will return to Mount Angel Seminary for my final two years of formation for the priesthood. Lord willing, I will be ordained a priest for the Diocese of Sacramento in 2019. Throughout that process and beyond, you all will hold a special place in my heart. Please keep me in your prayers as well, and I look forward to when we meet again. In Christ, Dean Marshall Seminarian for the Diocese of Sacramento and OLA Family Member Fr. Brendan to Celebrate 50th Anniversary of His Ordination on May 13th! Fr. Brendan will celebrate Mass at 5:00pm on May 13th to commemorate his 50 years in the priesthood. Please join him on this wonderful occasion to thank him for a lifetime of service and to celebrate his achievements. A reception will follow Mass at St. John s Hall. Are You or Someone You Know Considering Becoming Catholic? Our Lady of the Assumption Church has Inquiry Classes that are held on a regular basis. It is a very important part of the faith of each parish member to invite people to join our Catholic Church, the true church founded by Christ and faithful to his teachings. Each of us has the opportunity to do this and people love being invited gently and lovingly. People who show interest in the Catholic faith have a chance to become Inquirers and if they wish, later join the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). God bless you and this very important work of bringing Christ to others as He commanded us. For more information contact the parish office at 481-5115 or deacon@olaparish.net. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament " So, you could not stay awake with me for even an hour?" Matt 26:40 Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place every Tuesday and Thursday following 8:00am Mass and concluding at 7:00pm all year long. If you would like to sign up for an hourly time slot or would like more information, please call Joan at 335-3532. Please note: Eucharistic Devotion also takes place on the first Saturday of each month following the 8:00am First Saturday Mass.
