The First Congregational Church of Greenwich declares itself to be open and affirming; open to all for participation, membership, leadership, and employment, and affirming of all who wish to join us as children of God. We continue to give thanks for God s guidance in our journey of faith. We warmly welcome you to The First Congregational Church of Greenwich on this day of Pentecost as we celebrate the Confirmation of 9 of our young people. Please join us after worship for our Fellowship Hour in the Auditorium. PREPARING FOR WORSHIP Please silence all cell phones and other electronic devices. *All who are able please stand. PRELUDE Dr. Craig Scott Symons, organist 3 Chorale Variations on Marcel Dupré (1886-1971) Veni Creator Spiritus CALL TO COMMUNITY Rev. Meghan D. Young PRAISING GOD CALL TO WORSHIP Cameron DelCristo & Hayden Witmer Leader: Welcome to this place we are here to celebrate the new members of this church. People: We watch them grow on their journey to understand God. Leader: Welcome to this place where we openly accept anyone s choices, thoughts, and beliefs. People: We continue to watch them and help them grow into adulthood as they join our community. ALL: We hope you find love, joy, and freedom. CHORAL INTROIT

* HYMN Love Divine, All Loves Excelling Pilgrim (red) Hymnal 228 UNISON PRAYER Eliza Keller We will not judge them off the basis of their beliefs. We will not judge them off the basis of their race. We will not judge them based off of how they love. We will not let our grudges interfere with our humanity. Every day we will find peace. We will refill the souls of those who are broken. We will lift those who have fallen and invite them to our table of love. Help us find God with those who are still only just beginning their journey of faith. We ask this in Jesus name, and we pray the words our Savior taught us LORD'S PRAYER Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen. CHILDREN S MESSAGE Lauren O Donnell & Olivia Pfetsch As we begin singing, Church School children and teachers will leave for their classrooms. CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE Go, my children, with my blessing, never alone. Waking, sleeping, I am with you; you are my own. In my love s baptismal river I have made you mine forever. Go, my children, with my blessing you are my own.

UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST STATEMENT OF FAITH We believe in you, O God, Eternal Spirit, God of our Savior Jesus Christ and our God, and to your deeds we testify: You call the worlds into being, create persons in your own image, and set before each one the ways of life and death. You seek in holy love to save all people from aimlessness and sin. You judge people and nations by your righteous will declared through prophets and apostles. In Jesus Christ, the man of Nazareth, our crucified and risen Savior, you have come to us and shared our common lot, conquering sin and death and reconciling the world to yourself. You bestow upon us your Holy Spirit, creating and renewing the church of Jesus Christ, binding in covenant faithful people of all ages, tongues, and races. You call us into your church to accept the cost and joy of discipleship, to be your servants in the service of others, to proclaim the gospel to all the world and resist the powers of evil, to share in Christ's baptism and eat at his table, to join him in his passion and victory. You promise to all who trust you forgiveness of sins and fullness of grace, courage in the struggle for justice and peace, your presence in trial and rejoicing, and eternal life in your realm which has no end. Blessing and honor, glory and power be unto you. Amen
