The Church: God s Idea Part V Acts 2:42-47 Romans 12:1 Isaiah 6:1-8 You don t come to worship; you do worship. What makes worship is when you and I set the atmosphere of our spirit man to properly allow God to manifest His presence. II Chronicles 20:15b-17, 21-22 1
We all need to learn how to worship. Worship should have an effect and an aftereffect. Worship is all about encountering God. Worship is personal and it s corporate. When we truly encounter God through worship, His glory descends and things happen Be careful not to give in to your life situation and allow such to rob you from worship. Isaiah 6:1 All significant worship begins by seeing the Lord. 2
<<<Pastor Windsor Continues:>>> True worship always begins with an awareness of God s holiness Worship is not necessarily the singing of songs. That is one step in the whole process of WORSHIP. Why do we worship God? Because He is Holy, and His holiness demands our attention. 3
Theology and today s version of worship has emphasized the personal nature of God, the love of God, and the joy that He brings to our lives to such an extent that God has been reformed into our little buddy or some pal. We need to understand Isaiah s experience. This God which we serve is an awesome and Holy God. To be in His presence is to be filled with wonder and awe. After Isaiah felt the reality of God s holiness Isaiah 6:5 4
We need to understand Isaiah s experience. The greatest worship you can ever offer up to God is being able to become undone in His presence. It is a place of worship where you see Him as everything and you as incomplete without hiding, without pride. We need to take off the cloak of Christianity and become undone before the One who made you worthy to wear the cloak of Christianity. It was not until Isaiah saw how Holy God was and still is that he saw the lowliness of himself. Revival does not begin in a church meeting or a song It begins in that high place of worship. You enter into that place of worship becoming undone before God. You leave ready to serve. That s revival! 5
Isaiah could not walk in what God had planned for him until he became undone. Ephesians 2:10 So too we cannot walk in the fullness of who we are in God, because we are crowded with too much of us and too much of the world. You can worship God by thanking Him: for who you are, what He has made you, what He has given to you. 6
But there is a greater depth of worship when you can enter into His presence and get a revelation of His holiness. You can look at you and can say, Here I am Lord, my image is tarnished but I am willing for you to polish away the tarnished ways, thoughts, words, deeds and motives. That s your truest worship. That is the place where you are changed. That is the place where you enter in worship and leave ready to serve. Not your own agenda, but His. 7
SCRIPTURES (New King James) Acts 2:42-47 42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. 43 Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. 44 Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, 45 and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need. 8
Acts 2:42-47 46 So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved. Romans 12:1 1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 9
Isaiah 6:1-8 1 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. 2 Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. 3 And one cried to another and said: Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory! 4 And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke Isaiah 6:1-8 5 So I said: Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, The Lord of hosts. 6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the altar. 7 And he touched my mouth with it, and said: Behold, this has touched your lips; Your iniquity is taken away, And your sin purged. 8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us? Then I said, Here am I! Send me. 10
II Chronicles 20:15b-17, 21-22 15...Thus says the Lord to you: Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God s. 16 Tomorrow go down against them. They will surely come up by the Ascent of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the brook before the Wilderness of Jeruel. 17 You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem! Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord is with you. II Chronicles 20:15b-17, 21-22 21 And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who should sing to the LORD, and who should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army and were saying: Praise the Lord, For His mercy endures forever. 22 Now when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated. 11
Isaiah 6:1 1 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. Isaiah 6:5 5 So I said: Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, The Lord of hosts. 12
Ephesians 2:10 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. 13
