They don t require much land or feed and are a helpful source of income or food. The eggs they produce are full of protein, and the meat is nutritious. WATER BUFFALO or BEEF COW Many Christian families in Egypt struggle to survive. A water buffalo can provide them with important nutrition and income. Its milk is rich in protein and fat. This strong animal can also be used for farm work. A beef cow can also provide income. The family feeds the cow for a year, butchers it, and then sells the meat. SHEEP Sheep are valuable to impoverished farmers around the world. A healthy ewe can provide milk, warm wool, and lambs to sell at market. Agriculture Gaza FAMILY-SELF-SUPPORT Families in developing countries are often hardworking and want to provide for themselves, but they lack material resources. A gift of fishing nets, construction tools, farm equipment, a plot of land, or a horse and wagon can give someone the chance to start a small family business and earn a living. That s what happened in Haiti. Much of the land has been deforested, causing the topsoil to wash away. Your gift of a tree can help reforest Haiti. Clean Water COMMUNITY WELL Women and children in Liberia, Kenya, and Haiti walk for miles every day to fetch water from a river or stagnant pond. Your gift of a well gives families easy access to clean water for drinking, cooking, bathing, and washing clothes. WHEELCHAIRS AND WALKERS Hamze is a sweet, smart 14-year-old. He lives near Bethlehem, the city where Jesus was born. When CAM staff first arrived at his house, Hamze was crawling around on the floor because he had outgrown his wheelchair. We could have never afforded to have his arm fixed, said Ervin s mom. This is a very beautiful blessing. URGENT NEEDS Ervin, a ten-year-old boy in Nicaragua, loved to watch his neighbor climb trees and trim them. One day he decided to climb a tree just like he had seen his neighbor do. But it wasn t as easy as it looked. Ervin fell and broke his arm! Ervin s mom and dad didn t have money to get his arm fixed, so they let it heal without a cast. His arm became crooked, and he wasn t able to use it properly. Then Ervin s family got some money from CAM s Special- Needs-Fund to do surgery on the arm. Some doctors fixed Ervin s broken arm, and he is healing up! The Special-Needs-Fund helps with medical emergencies and other unexpected needs, such as funeral expenses and house fires. SALT Savings Groups 2,000 POUNDS OF MUSTARD! Jesus said that when a mustard seed is planted, it grows up to be greater than all herbs. Shahidul in Bangladesh experienced that firsthand. He is part of a SALT savings group that collectively saves money so members can take out loans and start small businesses. That s why 120 pastors are on the waiting list to come to CAM s Biblical Discipleship Center in Haiti where they find fellowship and encouragement. At the center they go through three-week seminars on creation, spiritual warfare, the Christian family, and more. By the time they complete the entire series (six seminars), they have a thorough overview of God s Word from a Biblical, Anabaptist perspective.
