The Master s Message A Good Start!!! Has anyone been able to identify the picture on the front cover yet? I have a feeling that it is our original lodge... but I could be wrong! Starting this March and from now on, the lodge will be giving free dinners to our members who have a birthday in that month! So if your birthday is in March, come to the March family dinner and get your free dinner! If your birthday is in April well let s hope it s not April 1 st lol. If you missed the February dinner, boy did you miss out! We had a cellist and pianist who came in and blew us all away with a live concert that lasted for over an hour! The March family dinner will have another special performance, so don t feel too bad if you missed last month s! Congratulations to Bro. Fred Fehl, Bro. Haroldo Dominguez, and Bro. Jeff Nosanov who are our newest and youngest Entered Apprentices! Bro. Skip Harvey sat in the East for these degrees and made us all proud! I think that we had a record number of brethren at these degrees and I thank each and every one of you for responding to my previous article and for coming to support us! As you can see, we are off to one hell of a start this year! Wor. Bob Rinker has announced that our annual fishing trip will occur on one of the following dates: July 15 th 19 th. If you plan on coming, please respond and let us know which day is best for you so that we can set an official date. The lodge has been able to set aside a few dollars for this years trip so that we can all attend without breaking the bank. I hope that most of you can join us this year! Greetings to my brethren that are out of town and out of state and who continue to stay in touch! My thoughts are always with you and your families! By the way Bro. Byrd, keep an eye out for the mail! Good to hear from you! Fraternally, Dan Moran, Master 3

From The West Engage!! The act of engaging is the soul test of your character a quote from Captain Henry Rodriguez L.A. Co. F.D. I imagine this thought came to him in the course of performing his duty recognizing the internal fortitude required to put one s life on the line while serving others. Our brother John Mc Dannel is engaged in India for a worthy cause; he s part of an International group to help eradicate Polio in that country. As 2011 slowly makes its way toward the West, I m looking for future projects and activities to engage our members. I invite you to recommend any ideas that you feel would be of benefit to the Lodge, community or Masonry in general for this year and the coming year, which we can sponsor or support which underline our principles tenets; Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth. This year started with a renewed interest in Masonry. Our Lodge has several applicants seeking admission. Since January we ve had three candidates initiated as Entered Apprentices. Any Master Mason interested in assisting with the investigation of perspective members please contact Bro. Dan Moran. It is important to remember that as a member of an investigation committee you are the vanguard of our fraternity assuring that we accept those seeking admission will bring honor to our ancient institution. Fraternally, Tommy Chavies Senior Warden 4

From the South Greetings!!! Although my installation was delayed by a month due to work commitments, I was quickly immersed in the work of a Junior Warden. I had the pleasure of presiding in the East for my first two initiations (in the same night) exactly two weeks after being installed. This was followed by sitting in the East for two more a week later. We are also anticipating possibly three more initiations during March. Having the pleasure of bringing as many as seven new Masons into the fraternity in the space of two months brings home the true meaning of what it means to be a Mason. The work will shift to Senior Warden Tommy in April and May. As Junior Warden I am responsible for seeing that the brethren are sated after each lodge activity. As a consequence I need to be creative in what is served, so, I am always looking for refreshment ideas for future lodge activities. Drop me a line as to what you would like to see, or, even better, show up with some of your favorites (give me a call first), no reasonable offers will be refused. Other planned lodge activities are the Mardi Gras Dinner (March) and the Fishing Trip (July). I look forward to seeing the latest initiates as well as the more tenured brethren at these activities. As always, the year before us is and will continue to provide us with numerous opportunities and many surprises while we hone our skills in the craft and provide the lodge with that necessary direction to become more skilled and better masons. Daniel Skip Harvey Junior Warden 6

Are you current in your dues? If you check your Lodge Membership receipt and you notice that it does not say good through December 31, 2011 it should remind you that your dues have not been paid for 2011. Perhaps that has been an oversight on your part or, perhaps you are waiting for the second reminder. If you have the feeling that paying the $75 dues would be a financial hardship, a short note requesting that the dues be remitted is all that would be needed. Remitting dues is not automatic from year to year. It is for one year only and the request must be made each year (if necessary). In Loving Memory of our departed brethren Ronald E.
