The Mailbox Club presents YOUNG EXPLORERS 1 LESSON 1 God s Beautiful Home Dear Friend, I want to tell you about a wonderful country called Heaven. The people who live there love one another and they are always happy. They never get sick and they never die. Heaven is God s home. The Lord Jesus lives there because He is God s Son. We cannot imagine how beautiful Heaven really is. The best way to tell you what Heaven is like is to tell you about things that will be in Heaven and things that will not be in Heaven. Heaven is so bright with God s glory that it is light all the time and never dark. This means that we will not need the sun or the moon. We will not need any candles or light bulbs because there is never any night there. It is bright and pretty all the time. 1

There is no medicine in Heaven because no one ever gets sick. And there are no graves because no one ever dies. There will be no church buildings in Heaven. We go to church to worship God, but when we get to Heaven, God will live with us all the time. In this world there is much pain and suffering, but there will be no pain and no suffering in Heaven. God Himself will wipe away all our tears. We will never be sad or cry again. There will be no sin in Heaven. Sin is what we do wrong. Because people have sin in their hearts, they do many wrong things. But God is not going to allow any sin in Heaven. The throne of God and the throne of the Lord Jesus will be in Heaven. A pure river of the water of life, clear as crystal, flows from the throne of God through the city of God. This city is more beautiful than anything we could ever imagine. The tree of life will be in Heaven. This beautiful tree will have twelve different kinds of fruit on it during the year. Each month it has a different kind of fruit. The Bible tells us that the street in Heaven is made of pure gold. What a beautiful place Heaven must be if even the street is made of gold! There are many beautiful homes in Heaven. Everyone in Heaven will have a beautiful home. The Lord Jesus called Heaven My Father s house. He said, In My Father s house are many beautiful homes; if it were not so, I would have told you. All the people who have taken the Lord Jesus as their Savior will be there millions and millions of people. They all love Jesus and they all love one another. God will give crowns as rewards to those who love Him and serve Him in this life. Copyright 2004 The Mailbox Club International

There will be millions of beautiful angels in Heaven. Angels are powerful spirit-beings, created by God to do His will. God sends His angels to protect us and care for us in this life. The Bible will be in Heaven. The Bible is a special book because it is God s holy Word. There is another special book in Heaven. This book is called The Lamb s Book of Life. Jesus is the Lamb of God, so this is His book. When you take the Lord Jesus as your Savior, your name is written in The Lamb s Book of Life. Some day you will be with Jesus in Heaven forever. The most wonderful thing about Heaven is this: the Lord Jesus will be there! He is our Savior the One who died on the cross for our sins, so we could be forgiven of our sins and go to Heaven. These WILL NOT be in Heaven These WILL BE in Heaven Now I have some wonderful news for you: God wants YOU to be in Heaven with Him! This is true. God knows your name and He wants you to be in Heaven with Him some day. Do you know why God wants you to be with Him in Heaven? He wants you there because He loves you! You can say, God loves ME! Say it right now God loves ME! Point to yourself and say it again God loves ME! You may ask, Does God know about all the bad things I have done? 3

Yes, God knows about them, but He still loves you with all His heart. He loves you so much that He gave His only Son, the Lord Jesus, to take the punishment for your sins. That is why Jesus died on the cross. Do you know what God wants you to do most of all? He wants you to love Him! Because God loves you so much, He wants you to love Him. Will you choose to love God with all your heart? Here is a prayer to help you: Dear God, I am so glad that You know me and love me. I am glad that You want me to love You. I do want to love You with all my heart. God loves me and He wants me to be in Heaven with Him some day. I will love You, O Lord. Psalm 18:1 Dear Friend, Would you like to be in an exciting club with other boys and girls? Would you like to learn about God? Would you like to earn a beautiful certificate with your name on it? I know you would! Read this lesson carefully. Fill in the Question Page and send it back to us. When you do this, you will be a member of The Mailbox Club. Your Question Page will be graded and sent back to you with the next lesson. When you complete all 10 lessons in the course, you will receive a beautiful certificate with your name on it! Send your Question Page back soon! We want you to be a member of The Mailbox Club! 4

What is like? How can we know what God is like? The only way we can know what God is like is for God to tell us or show us what He is like. Long, long ago, God talked with people and told them what He was like. God talked to many different men at different times. They wrote down the words that God told them to write. They made a big book out of many small books. We call this big book the Bible. One of the men God talked to was a man named Jeremiah. God told Jeremiah, Write all the words that I have spoken to you in a book. Jeremiah obeyed God. He wrote God s Word in a book. This book is in the Bible. We call it the Book of Jeremiah. Every book in the Bible was written this way. The Bible says, All Scripture is given by inspiration of God. This means that every book in the Bible came from God. Though the Bible was written many, many years ago, God took care of it, and we can read it today. God took care of it because He wanted to talk to you and me through the Bible. The Bible is God talking to us. It tells us the truth about God. It tells us the truth about ourselves. It tells us the truth about Satan. It tells us the truth about sin. It tells us the truth about how we can be saved. 5

The Bible tells us that there is only one God. In the Bible, God says, I am the Lord, and there is no other; there is no other God beside Me. Some people think that there are many gods. But in the Bible, God tells us there is only one true and living God. He says, I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me. God is a living Person who sees and knows all things. He knows and loves every person. He can help us. God wants us to know Him and love Him. When we know God and love Him, we will be truly happy. Although God is a Person, we cannot see Him. The reason we cannot see God is that God is Spirit. We cannot see a spirit. When God made the first man, Adam, God gave him a spirit and a body. Every person has a spirit and a body. Your spirit lives in your body. Other people can see your body, but they cannot see your spirit. God is all Spirit. That is why we cannot see Him. Though we cannot see Him, God is the one true and living God. We must not have any gods other than Him. God says, You shall have no other gods before Me. We must love the one true God with all our heart. 6
