This is especially evident in families with young children. However, in spite of all these distractions, we are showing up for Mass with all good intentions. But today s gospel reading reminds us of what the Eucharist is all about. It helps us to focus on the Last Supper, the final Passover meal Jesus shared with his friends. There we hear him say those familiar and astonishing words, This is my Body. This is my Blood. The breaking of the bread and the pouring out of the wine reminds us once again of how Jesus body was broken on the cross and how his blood was spilled for us. Now we are his body on earth. And we are nourished by his eucharistic presence among us. Together with your family determine who or what can help you to become more plugged into what is really happening in the celebration of the Eucharist. Discuss among yourselves the difference the Eucharist makes in each of your lives. As a family, discern ways you can help others appreciate the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. Realize that each time you come to the table to share in the Body and Blood of Christ, you are given the chance to become more fully the Body of Christ for each other.
