P a g e 2 From the Principal s Desk... Plant sales are upon us! That means that spring is here and we can look forward to putting away the mittens and scarves and prepare the land for new plantings. I came across this devotion this week and thought it perfect to share with you today. From Rick Warren (http://rickwarren.org/devotional/english/full-post/plant-your-seeds-wisely): Everything starts as a seed. That s the first law of the harvest. Literally everything that s living on planet Earth came from a seed. In Genesis 1:11 God said, Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds (NIV). A seed is anything valuable that you give away. When you give away praise, there s value to that. When you give away good advice, there s value to that. When you give away your time, there s value to that. When you give away your money, there s value to that. When you share your experience to help other people, there s value to that. When you give your love away, there s great value to that. It all starts as a seed, whether it s your time, money, appreciation, wisdom, or energy. CHAPEL NEWS 3rd Trimester Offerings Ronald McDonald House 3.24.16 Leader Pastor Leckband March Hymn O the Month Chief of Sinners Singing: 7th/8th Your words can also be seeds that you plant in people s minds. They grow, and they bear fruit. So you need to choose your words wisely, especially when you re talking with people that you love, like your children, your husband, your wife, and your friends. Let me ask you this: What kind of seeds are you planting in your relationships? Are you planting seeds of trust, or are your planting seeds of distrust? Are you planting seeds that build up, or are you planting seeds that tear down? What kind of seeds do you want to plant in your relationships? CLS SKATE NIGHT @ VINTON If you missed the first skate night in the Fall, you can recreate your Xanadu moment TONIGHT from 6p-8p at the Vinton Skating Rink. This event is hosted by the CLS Marketing Committee. The cost per skater is $4 per skater (includes skate rental). No charge for nonskaters.

PLANT SALE CATALOG TWO THINGS YOU SHOULD BE AWARE OF: 1) THE CATALOG IS MISSING A PAGE. IF THE PLANT IS OFFERED ON THE SALES FORM, IT IS AVAILABLE EVEN THOUGH YOUR CUSTOMER And a big thank you and congratulations to Brogan S, our top seller last week. Brogan turned in $132 in sales! Trivia: Million Bells was the most requested plant last week followed by red impatiens and alyssum. This comes as no surprise as the million bells last year were stunning. Since the first year, we have always heard good things about how well the impatiens do for our gardeners. Our total sales for the week: $771. A HUGE IMPROVEMENT OVER LAST YEAR S FIRST WEEK OF SALES. Keep up the good work Cougars! Due to the vacation schedule next week, next week s plant sale winners will be announced Tuesday, March 15, before early dismissal. To be eligible for that drawing, please turn in your plant sales before noon on Tuesday. MAY NOT FIND IT IN THE CATALOG. EXAMPLE: #36-#42 2) THERE IS A DISCREPANCY IN PRICE FOR #54 LILY. THE CATALOG LISTS IT AT $15 BUT THE SALES FORM HAS IT LISTED AT $20. THE CORRECT PRICE IS $20.
P a g e 4 2016-17 Registration Families have 10 days to register for next year and take advantage of the lower enrollment fees. Beginning April 1, the enrollment fee increases from $315 to $385 per K-8th grader. That s a big savings, especially if you have more than one child. Please remember that the due date for all forms is Friday, April 29. Send your ILSTO applications directly to ILSTO. Turn in the rest of the forms to the office. ENDOWMENT RSVP DEADLINE EXTENDED The Marketing Committee will take your Forever Central Endowment Dinner RSVPs until Monday, March 14. Please send them to the office or give directly to Lana Offill. The dinner is Saturday, April 9, at the Cedar Rapids Country Club. Didn t get an invite? Please go to the school website and download one. We d love to have you join us! Spring Pictures TOMORROW! Lifetouch Photography will return to CLS tomorrow to take Spring Pictures. The Spring photo shoot is different than the Fall photo shoot in many ways. The biggest difference is that you don t pay ahead of time. You will wait until your photos arrive to decide if and how many you want to buy. If you aren t interested in buying any pictures, no problem. Just send the packet back to school. THERE IS NO OBLIGATION TO BUY. An order form came home this week. It gives parents an opportunity to choose the backdrop. Send it back to school with your student tomorrow if you haven t already. If you don t have a preference, Lifetouch will make the choice for you. Preschool 3s and afternoon 4s should arrive at 7:45 if you want a picture taken. There will be no picture make up day for absences or do-overs.
