Day 1 - Depart to Tel Aviv, Israel Your exotic journey to Holy land begins this evening as you depart from USA. Day 2 Arrive Tel Aviv - Tiberias After arrival at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv we ll be met by our guide who will accompany us throughout our pilgrimage. After boarding our motorcoach we ll drive north along the Mediterranean coast to Mount Carmel, home of the prophets Elijah and Elisha, to visit Muhraqa which is the site of the sacrifice of Elijah. (Meals: Dinner) Day 3 Tiberias This morning we will drive to Nazareth to celebrate Mass in the Basilica of the Annunciation and visit Joseph's Workshop. Then proceed to Cana of Galilee, where Our Lord performed the first miracle changing water into wine at the wedding feast. In the afternoon we ll enjoy a scenic boat ride across the Sea of Galilee. Then proceed to Capernaum, home of Our Lord during His ministry. Visit Muhraqa which is the site of the sacrifice of Elijah. We ll then proceed to Mt. Tabor to visit the traditional site of the Transfiguration of Jesus. Then proceed to Tabgha, traditionally accepted as the place of the miracle of the multiplication of the loaves and fishes followed by a visit to the Church of Peter s Primacy where Peter was told feed my lambs, feed my sheep. Visit the Mt. of the Beatitudes to visit the site of the Sermon on the Mount (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) Day 4 Tiberias Petra (Jordan)
Depart Tiberius and drive to the Sheikh Hussein Bridge where we will cross from Israel into Jordan. Then proceed south to Mount Nebo to visit the site where Moses first viewed the Promised Land. We will continue our drive south to Petra, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) Day 5 Petra Amman (Jordon) This morning will be spent exploring the Rose Red City of Petra which is literally carved into the sides of a deep gorge. The only entrance is through the Siq, a narrow slit in the rock enclosed by beautiful limestone cliffs. We will see a remarkable sight: temples, tombs, and dwellings chiseled right into the limestone walls. After our visit we will depart Petra and drive north to visit the Baptismal Site on the River Jordan. We next view Elijah s Hill, One of the most important sites of the Baptism Site is Elijah's hill, the place where Elijah ascended to heaven in the ninth century BC. Continue on to Amman, the capital of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, for overnight (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) Day 6 Amman - Bethlehem This morning cross the Jordanian/Israeli border back into the Holy Land. We will drive to the lowest point on earth The Dead Sea. We will also visit Qumran, the place where the famous Dead Sea Scrolls were found, and learn about the beliefs of the Jews at the time of Jesus. We will not miss a float in the healthy and special waters of the Dead Sea, continue to explore Jericho, where we shall see the Sycamore Tree, on which tradition says that Zacchaeus the Tax-collector climbed in order to see The Lord, and Elisha s spring. A modern cable-car will take us up to the Mount of Temptation, where the monks built their monastery hanging from a cliff, on the spot where Jesus was tempted by the Devil. (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) Day 7 Bethlehem This morning we will visit the Nativity Church, the Church of St. Catherine, and the Shepherds Fields. In the afternoon proceeds to Ein Karem, the birthplace of
St. John the Baptist, to see the Visitation Church which honors the visit paid by Mary, Jesus' mother, to Elizabeth, John's mother. As this is the point at which Mary poured forth her song of praise, the Magnificat, the church is beautifully decked out with tiled representations of that canticle in just about every known language. We will also visit the Franciscan Church of St. John the Baptist, the birth place of John the Baptist. (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) Day 8 Bethlehem Jerusalem - Bethlehem Drive to the Mt. of Olives for a panoramic city view of the Golden City of Jerusalem. Stand atop the Mt. of Olives as Jesus did and enjoy the spectacular view. From the Mount of Olives take in the panoramic view of Jerusalem. Then to the Pater Noster shrine, where Jesus taught His disciples the Pater Noster The Lord s Prayer. Then we walk down to the Palm Sunday Road stop at the beautiful little church, Dominus Flevit - The Lord wept..visit the Church of All Nations to pray at the Rock of Agony, a section of bedrock identified as the place where Jesus prayed alone in the garden on the night of His arrest. Visit the Western Wall, to see all that remains of the Temple compound that dates to the time of Jesus. From here we will continue to the house of the High Priest Caiaphas where He was interrogated and imprisoned. After Mass we will go up to Mt. Zion to visit the Upper Room, which commemorates the Last Supper. Nearby is the Benedictine Church of the Dormition. We will visit the Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu, the site where Jesus denied knowing the Lord three times. (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) Day 9 Bethlehem Jerusalem - Bethlehem This morning we start the Via Dolorosa (The Way of the Cross) at the Antonia Fortress, where Jesus was condemned to death by Pontius Pilate. From there He was taken through the city to be crucified. The Stations of the Cross lead, through the markets of the Old City to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Here is the site of Calvary and the Tomb of Christ. Mass will be in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. After breakfast visit the Church of St Anne s, the Pool of Bethesda and the Sisters of Zion. This afternoon there will be time to revisit the Old City. This evening there will be a special Farewell.Middle Eastern Dinner party with drinks, coffee and tea. (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 10 Bethlehem Jerusalem - Bethlehem This morning we will visit the Franciscan Chapel at the Cenacle for Mass and then continue to the Upper Room where Our Lord ate the Last Supper with His disciples. Then we will go next to the Dormition Abbey where Mary, mother of Jesus, fell into eternal sleep followed by a visit to St. Peter Gallicantu Church, the site where Peter denied knowing Jesus three times before the rooster crowed. (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) Day 11 Jerusalem - Tel Aviv - U.S.A. Today our Holy Land and Jordan pilgrimage comes to an end as we catch our return flight home arriving back to USA.
