Tues. through Fri. 9:00 am to Noon JULY Faith United Methodist Church Engage, Equip, and Empower! Seeking God Volume 2018. Issue 7 God! My God! It s you I search for you! My whole being thirsts for you! My body desires you in a dry and tired land, no water anywhere. Yes, I ve seen you in the sanctuary; I ve seen your power and glory. My lips praise you because your faithful love is better than life itself! So I will bless you as long as I m alive; I will lift up my hands in your name..psalm 63:1-4 With what should I approach the LORD and bow down before God on high?... He has told you, human one, what is good and what the LORD requires from you: to do justice, embrace faithful love, and walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:6a, 8 Almighty and everlasting God, the sovereign Lord of all creatures in heaven and earth, we acknowledge that our beings, and all the comforts of them, depend upon thee, the Fountain of all good. We have nothing but what is owing entirely to thy free and bounteous love, O most blessed Creator, and to the riches of thy grace, O most blessed Redeemer. A Collection of Prayers for Families, Works 11:245 To love God with all of one s being was clearly an idea that captured the attention of John Wesley early and stayed with him to the end. He believed and practiced that loving God with all of the heart was the foundation for Christian living. Faithfulness to God was a lifelong quest for the Wesley brothers. They learned from study and experience that this journey of faithfulness begins in the heart. This quest of seeking God s presence and direction may seem overwhelming until we remember that Jesus told us we would have all the help we need in discovering what we must know in order to live fully as his disciples. He said, The Companion, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I told you (John 14:26). We are not left on our own to learn how to pray or how to discern God s will; our Companion, the Holy Spirit, is our teacher and guide as we learn how to live more fully in relationship with God. It is God who chooses to make our way known to us, and it is God who does the revealing, leading, and instructing. Three Things that will draw us closer to God: DO NO HARM DO GOOD STAY IN LOVE WITH GOD Job, Rueben P Job.. 40 Days with Wesley: A Daily Devotional Journey

Pag e 3 Fellowship Events Photo of Button Display, June 17 Fellowship Event. Buttons Collection - The button display was very interesting. Sherry Jones stated she had been collecting buttons for about 30 years and what she brought was a small portion. Her display at fellowship pertained mostly to men since it was displayed on Father s Day. It appeared that the congregation was pleasantly surprised at the variety of buttons. Family Bibles - On Sunday, July 8 th we are going to have a family bible display. Please get out your family bibles and bring them to church on the 8 th. We will also have some special music from Bob Stephan. Faith Picnic - There will be a potluck at Clear lake park on Wednesday, August 8 th at 4:00pm. We plan on having some special music. Thanks to Shirley Hansen and all those who helped prepare and serve the meal. The movie was Racing Stripes. It was about Stripes, a zebra raised on a farm in Kentucky, who dreams of one day becoming a championship racehorse. It was a heartwarming and hysterical film. UMW (United Methodist Women) Brochure UMW has a brochure that was made available to the Faith members. It is inserted with the hymnals on the back of the pews. It tells a little about UMW, its purpose, what UMW does and if interested, how to become a member. Please take one with you and learn a little about Faith UMW. Our speaker will be Heidi Becker from Austin, MN. Heidi and her husband had a baby named Drew (the name means warrior ). He was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma in January, 2016 and passed away a year later. During the time of his hospitalization, Drew s family were given a collapsible wagon filled with great supplies such as a homemade quilt, Kleenex, books, DVD s, baby wipes, snacks and more. Shortly after Drew s death, Heidi and her husband began Warrior Wagons. Her presentation goes through their story of Drew and will touch on how they got/get through this dark time in their lives with thankfulness and grace. Heidi will then address their current project and give us information regarding the Warrior Wagons. More information will be in the August bulletins and newsletter. Please put this date on your calendar so you don t miss it! (Dessert and coffee will be served in the fellowship hall following this presentation.)

Pag e 5 Annual Conference Report The 2018 Minnesota Annual Conference was held from May 30-June 1 in St. Cloud with approximately 700 clergy & lay members. The Minnesota Annual Conference will be hosting the 2020 General Conference. There will be four to five thousand delegates from around the world attending. Pag e 6 The heart is the happiest when it beats for others. ONE of the people most admired by Charles Swindoll is Dawson Trotman, who died after rescuing two drowning girls. Says Swindoll: When Dawson Trotman passed away he probably left a legacy of discipleship on this earth that will never be matched except perhaps in the life of Jesus Christ Himself. I ve become a real student of Dawson Trotman and believe wholeheartedly in the methods of discipleship that he taught and emulated throughout his days.he died of all things in the midst of an area that he was expert in he drowned. He was an expert swimmer. The last few moments he had in the water he lifted one girl out. He went down and got the other girl and lifted her out, and then submerged and was not found again until the dragnet found him a few hours later. Time ran an article on Trotman s life, and they put a caption beneath his name. It read, Always Holding Somebody Up. In one sentence, that was Trotman s life investment in people holding them up. Discipleship is not having others follow you, as much as it is lifting others up to see the Lord. Greater love hath no man that this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13 From God s Little Devotional Book
