Alleluia! comes to save us from despair. (VERSE 3) Jesus comes to hearts rejoicing All the past he now forgives; Jesus comes to share his kingdom With the sinners he receives: Alleluia! Alleluia! Death is conquered: Jesus lives! TIME OF PRAYER Karen Colvin

Prayer of Confession Almighty God, we confess how hard it is to be your people. You have called us to be the church, to continue the mission of Jesus Christ to our lonely and confused world. Yet we acknowledge we are more apathetic than active, isolated than involved, callous than compassionate, obstinate than obedient, legalistic than loving. Gracious Lord, have mercy upon us and forgive our sins. Remove the obstacles preventing us from being your representatives to a broken world. Awaken our hearts to the promised gift of your indwelling Spirit. This we pray in Jesus powerful name. Amen. [Silent Prayer] Reprinted by permission from The Worship Sourcebook, 2004, Faith Alive Christian Resources Assurance of Pardon Christ is our peace; those who are divided he has made one. He has broken down the barriers of separation by his death and has built us up into one body, with God. To all who repent and believe he has promised reconciliation. So live as people reconciled. At this time the children are excused to attend Junior Chapel. Offertory Through a Sunlit Window Organ Carl Simone READING OF THE SCRIPTURES Alex Colvin Psalm 5:1 8 (NIV) 29 Listen to my words, Lord, consider my lament. 2 Hear my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray. 3 In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly. 4 For you are not a God who is pleased with wickedness; with you, evil people are not welcome. 5 The arrogant cannot stand in your presence. You hate all who do wrong; 6 you destroy those who tell lies. The bloodthirsty and deceitful you, Lord, detest. 7 But I, by your great love, can come into your house; in reverence I bow down toward your holy temple.

8 Lead me, Lord, in your righteousness because of my enemies make your way straight before me. John 10:22-42 (NIV) 22 Then came the Festival of Dedication at Jerusalem. It was winter, 23 and Jesus was in the temple courts walking in Solomon s Colonnade. 24 The Jews who were there gathered around him, saying, How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly. 25 Jesus answered, I did tell you, but you do not believe. The works I do in my Father s name testify about me, 26 but you do not believe because you are not my sheep. 27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father s hand. 30 I and the Father are one. 31 Again his Jewish opponents picked up stones to stone him, 32 but Jesus said to them, I have shown you many good works from the Father. For which of these do you stone me? 33 We are not stoning you for any good work, they replied, but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God. 34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your Law, I have said you are gods? 35 If he called them gods, to whom the word of God came and Scripture cannot be set aside 36 what about the one whom the Father set apart as his very own and sent into the world? Why then do you accuse me of blasphemy because I said, I am God s Son? 37 Do not believe me unless I do the works of my Father. 38 But if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father. 39 Again they tried to seize him, but he escaped their grasp. 40 Then Jesus went back across the Jordan to the place where John had been baptizing in the early days. There he stayed, 41 and many people came to him. They said, Though

John never performed a sign, all that John said about this man was true. 42 And in that place many believed in Jesus. MESSAGE Jesus...God? Messiah? Dave Musser *SONG OF WORSHIP YE SERVANTS OF GOD (Hymn #103) (VERSE 1) Ye servants of God, your Master proclaim. and publish abroad his wonderful name; the name all victorious of Jesus extol; his kingdom is glorious, he rules over all. (VERSE 2) God ruleth on high, almighty to save; and still he is nigh -- his presence we have; the great congregation his triumph shall sing, ascribing salvation to Jesus our King. (VERSE 3) Salvation to God who sits on the throne! let all cry aloud and honor the Son: the praises of Jesus the angels proclaim, fall down on their faces and worship the Lamb. (VERSE 4) Then let us adore and give him his right, all glory and power, all wisdom and might: all honor and blessing, with angels above, and thanks never ceasing, and infinite love.
