Ahava B Shem Yeshua Love In The Name of Jesus Monthly Newsletter Volume 4, Issue 3 January 2018 From Our Messianic Leader.. Myth Of Two Covenant Theology There is a so-called two covenants or dual covenant theology, teaching that Jews and Gentiles are covered by two different covenants, and that the Jewish people therefore do not need to come to faith in Christ. In essences, the two covenant theory is a fantasy NOT truth and reality. It is better known as Replacement Theology. Yeshua himself longed to be accepted by the Jewish people as who He is. But He never did force Himself for people to receive Him nor would He allow others to use force to obtain for Him what was His by right. Rather he wept as scriptures describe it in: Luke 13:34-35(CJB) 34 Yerushalayim! Yerushalayim! You kill the prophets! You stone those who are sent to you! How often I wanted to gather your children, just as a hen gathers her chickens under her wings, but you refused! 35 Look! God is abandoning your house to you! I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, Blessed is he who comes in the name of ADONAI! Yeshua is the Messiah of both Jews and Gentiles. There is ONE new covenant, made with the house of Israel and the house of Judah (Jeremiah 31:30-34) for both Jews and Gentiles. Jews need Yeshua and the new covenant as much as the Gentiles. It is up to the Gentile Believers and the Messianic Jews to make this known to both Jews and Gentiles, not to find excuses for disobeying the great commission of spreading the gospel. Let us memorize and act out Romans 1:16; Romans 1:16 (CJB) 16 For I am not ashamed of the Good News, since it is God s powerful means of bringing salvation to everyone who keeps on trusting, to the Jew especially (some versions say first), but equally to the Gentile. Al Messianic Leader Ahava B'Shem Yeshua G-d is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. Page 6 Ahava B Shem Yeshua MINISTRY UPDATES Ahava Children s Ministry The sign up sheet for January is back in the classroom/nursery area on the wall. Teachers and helpers can sign themselves up for dates that work for them. It will cover 2 months at a time. Teachers will be planning their own lessons, and helpers as usual will assist the teacher. In the storage room in the back of the sanctuary, there is a curriculum box for books and lessons, or you can use resources that you have. More teachers are needed. There should be a minimum of one adult in the back (18 or over) but preferably 2 adults should sign up at a time. Please talk to Dee Rodriguez if you would like to serve as a teacher for the first time, or if you would be willing to serve as the new Shabbat School leader. For those who sign up for Shabbat School, on the Shabbat you are in the classroom, please let the people serving in the sound booth know and they can make you a copy of the message. Davidic Dance Ministry We have made some changes to the dance ministry: Is. 52:7 "How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of the messenger of good tidings, that announces peace and announces salvation, that says unto Zion: "Your Elohim reigns!" Davidic Dance at Ahava is worshiping Adonai with sacred reverence to Him. Therefore, there must be order and understanding when we worship through dance. Seasoned worship dancers may join the Davidic Dance circle after speaking to Daniele and Julia, our dance leaders and demonstrating basic core steps. Appropriate dance attire is skirts and dresses below the knee and tops should be covered shoulders, no tank tops or camisoles... nothing see through. Our focus is to please Elohim and not man. The Hora Dance is for everyone and we encourage all to participate and celebrate in this dance. The dance for He Shall Reign is for everyone as well! Beginning dance steps are offered after Oneg on the first and second Sabbaths of the month at 1:15 for 30 minutes. The Shabbat Medley dance will be taught during this time. All who learn it can then participate in the Shabbat Medley dance to bring in the Sabbath Service. In preparation for Pesach, all ages are welcome to join a Special Dance Class for Pesach! We will be practicing every Shabbat after Oneg! Thank you for your understanding and we ask that you pray that Elohim be exalted through the dance ministry as it is a powerful weapon against the enemy. Volume 4, Issue 3 Page 7 MESSIANIC 101 Terms & Definitions PARTAKING OF THE BREAD AND WINE (Communion) Most Messianic congregations do not observe Communion in the same way that churches do. Most that I know of do not observe Communion on a weekly basis. The reason is because it is not specifically taught in the Bible that we are to do so. I know that sounds pretty drastic, but one must consider carefully what the Bible does teach. Taking Communion other than the annual Pesach (Passover) Seder, is a man made tradition. It s not wrong, it s just not commanded by Adonai. In Luke 22:19 in most translations [like the NASB, i.e.;] it says: 19 And when He had taken some bread and given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me. This is actually a very poor translation. Yeshua actually said the b'rakhah, or blessing as correctly translated in the Complete Jewish Bible, as follows: taking a piece of matzah, he made the b'rakhah, broke it, gave it to them and said, This is my body, which is being given for you; do this in memory of me. [CJB] What was the this that He was doing? He was observing the Passover Seder. So Yeshua s instruction, in the Biblical context, was that the Passover Seder was to be celebrated in remembrance of Him. The apostle Paul did not change that teaching in 1 Corinthians 11:23-26. 23 For what I received from the Lord is just what I passed on to you that the Lord Yeshua, on the night he was betrayed, took bread; 24 and after he had made the b rakhah he broke it and said, This is my body, which is for you. Do this as a memorial to me ; 25 likewise also the cup after the meal, saying, This cup is the New Covenant effected by my blood; do this, as often as you drink it, as a memorial to me. 26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the death of the Lord, until he comes. So why do Gentile Christians not celebrate the Passover Seder in remembrance of Him? Because the Council of Nicea, under Constantine, made the celebration of Passover punishable by death. That same Council established the weekly Mass and Eucharist plus the annual observance of the pagan fertility Feast of Ishtar [Easter] as a Christian substitute for the Biblical feasts of Passover and First Fruits. Probably most (if not all) Messianic synagogues celebrate the Kiddush (not communion ) with Challah and wine at every Shabbat service. I think most people, or congregants, cannot possibly eat bread and wine together under any circumstances without remembering Him. I think most Believers feel the same way. There are two doctrines that are taught : The Roman Catholic Church teaches the doctrine of Transubstantiation and the Consubstantiation a concept and Lutheran teaching that is applied. While both of these ideas are interesting, there is no Biblical basis for either view. Both are based on an ultra-literal interpretation of Scripture, which usually leads to error. He who has ears, let him hear he who has a brain, let him also think! Please note that there are two b'rakhot (plural of b'rakhah, blessing) that are of significance here, and which Yeshua would have recited during His last Passover Seder. The first is the b'rakhah that is always said before partaking of wine; the second is the b'rakhah that is always said before partaking of bread. The b'rakhah for wine: The b'rakhah for bread: Barukh atah Adonai Eloheinu, Melech ha'olam, boray p'ree ha'gafen. Blessed are You, Adonai our G-d, King of the universe, the One Who creates the fruit of the vine. Barukh atah Adonai Eloheinu, Melech ha'olam, ha'motzie lechem mein ha'aretz. Blessed are You, Adonai our G-d, King of the universe, the One Who brings forth bread [or sustenance] from the earth. Al Messianic Leader, Ahava B'Shem Yeshua
