FIFTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME JULY 15, 2018 A Message from Father Jose Dear Parishioners, On Sunday, July 1, 2018, Music Director, Dr. Solveiga Palionis, left a letter of resignation on my desk effective immediately. I thank Dr. Palionis for the 19 years that she served this parish. May God guide her in her future endeavors. Moving forward, I have asked Vince Zaprzal, our Director of Parish Ministries, Religious Education, and Facilities, to make sure our weekend liturgies and funerals are covered with substitute musicians. In this interim period before a new Music Minister is hired, the Adult Choir and Contemporary Ensemble will be on hiatus. A job description is currently posted with the Diocese of Joliet and the Archdiocese of Chicago. Please keep our parish in your continued prayers as we hire a new Music Minister. On another note, thank you to all who attended our Parish Family Picnic last Sunday! A special thank you to Mary Thon and the C.C.W. for coordinating a wonderful parish celebration and to all the volunteers who helped to make the picnic a success. Many compliments were received and a good time was had by all! Peace, Fr. Around the Diocese and Parish Neighborhood THE CHARITY OF OUR CHILDREN Charity that comes very sincerely and humbly from children is the greatest charity of all. When we experience it directly it is an awesome event that teaches us what acts of loving charity for others truly is. Last weekend we celebrated the annual picnic of our parish community. There we gathered to enjoy the food and fun of a relaxing event. Many were able to come and spend some time with their friends and neighbors of our church. AND among them were a number of children our children, our grandchildren and a few great grandchildren. Among them was one notable quite young woman named ALANA THON who like her siblings has been a part of this parish since birth and Baptism and now attends our parish REP (CCD) classes on winter Tuesdays. This weekend she was quite blessed and lucky in winning a good number of prizes in the games and many ticket drawings during the parish picnic at which she also worked. As she collected her winnings, she decided to turn those prizes into blessings for others by giving all of her picnic achievements to the St. Vincent de Paul Society to pass along her kindness to the poor and disadvantaged. That is true charity for those in need. As an organization of our parish and Church we all need to say a prayer of thanks for this youngster s noble charity. We have truly witnessed God s meaning of charity in the deed of this young lady. Let us take this as an example of what we all need to do in this world of many divisions and battles to decide who and what we can trust. Alana s acts of kindness should be our map and guide to follow in our lives. Everything we do should be done in the spirit of God s love which can best be learned from the wisdom and compassion of children. For Christ said, Truly, I tell you, unless you change and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 18:1-5. PREVIEW THE DIOCESAN BIBLE SCHOOL THIS SUMMER!
