The Worship of God Chapel August 5, 2018 8:30 am Opening Voluntary Plaint (Psalm 69)...Raymond H. Haan Hide not thy face from thy servant; draw nigh unto my soul, and redeem it. Welcome and Announcements Call to Worship From of old, God has calmed our fears: The Lord says, Fear not, for I am with you. Here today, God is quieting our storms: Jesus says, Peace! Be still! Why are you afraid? Forever, God will liberate us from the fear that binds us: The Scripture says, For freedom Christ has set us free! Opening Prayer The Lord be with you. And also with you. Let us pray. O God, we confess that we often hold tighter to our worries than to you. We confess that we have not fully embraced the freedom you offer us Freedom to dance freely with the Spirit, To love boldly with Jesus, To be practitioners of creation with the Father. We do not ask to be set free, this day; instead, we ask for the courage To accept the freedom already given to us. Through Christ we pray. Amen. Welcome! Thank you for worshiping with us this morning! Please take a moment to sign the attendance notebooks during the announcements. If this is your first time, please leave your contact information and a pastor will contact you this week with more information about our church. Also, help yourself to a blue Wesley Memorial tote bag as our gift to you. Inside you will find information about our church. Men s Walk September 13-16 Women s Walk September 20-23 Registration Deadline August 16 www.emmaus.upperroom.org Family Hour: Sunday, August 19: 9:45am-10:45am, The Underground All students and their families are invited to join us on Sunday morning, August 19 in The Underground. This will be a fun and informative hour for parents and their 6 th -12 th grade students. We will have snacks, drinks and fun ways for everyone to connect! We will be sharing our Student Ministry Calendar, vision and leadership for 2018-19 school year. We hope you can make plans to join us! Thanks & Praise our student ministry is grateful for our summer intern Sydney James. We have thoroughly enjoyed her spirit and joy for others! She has certainly enhanced all we have done this summer while pointing students to Christ and encouraging them in their walk. We have enjoyed watching her come alongside leaders, middle and high school students during a packed summer of fun and fellowship! We send Sydney off with all our love and prayers as she gears up to start her sophomore year at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill....to all the wonderful adult and student volunteers who came out to help set up for Ward Street VBS and those who gave of their time through the week....to those who prepared snacks and bag lunches for those participating in VBS at Ward Street. VBS is a wonderful outreach to the children in the community and it is all possible because of you. The front circle and connecting section of the parking lot will be under construction for another week. Please observe and follow any posted signs and instructions during construction. We apologize for any inconvenience as we improve the safety and appearance of our parking lot.
