Page 2 JULY 2017 2016 2017 Bas President s Annual Report Pam Vine : July 2016 December 30th, 2016. Thankyou to all members who have co-operated to keep our society moving along this half year. I also thank the committee members, Sylvia Sinatt, Julie Rooney, Joy Tatt, Bruce Ramage, Bill Boyes and John Stevenson for their contribution to our society. Vale Dale Sampson who was a loyal member, attending meetings to the end, and generously donating books/ materials for the society to use in the library, and to sell, thus boosting our funds. Neil Gude has been a staunch organiser of plain air activities. Bill and Lois once again gained us a City of Greater Bendigo Grant for Dudley House. Jan Harvey has continued to inject bright ideas into activities for our meeting days. Carmel Franco still amazes us with her whiz bang artistic newsletters, working together with Bruce Ramage. We have benefitted from the new ideas, e.g. The new signage flag which promotes our own art shows/the new white board for our meeting agenda/the use of an eftpos machine for sales at exhibitions/ our new mail box which is based in a central position in Bendigo. I organised an exhibition with Sheilah at Wedderburn, thanks to the generosity of Norm Close. That was well supported by members, and acknowledged by the public. A couple of paintings sold. However the aim was to get our work out there to be seen.i contacted the Eaglehawk Secondary College Principal thanking him for allowing us to use the facilities as a part of the Dahlia and Arts. I also contacted the Dahlia and Arts committee to request some financial assistance as the D&A cannot go ahead without an arts component. The request was so that the entry fee could be reduced, or even removed. The request was accepted and agreed to. I resigned as President on December 30th 2016 happy with the way the society is moving. We attended to most of the results of the 2014 BAS Survey. I wish you all well, and will always be a supporter in the future. Cheers, Pam Vine Joy Tatt : January 2017 - June 2017 What a great twelve months we have had with exhibitions, workshops, monthly meetings, show and tell, and activities. It was wonderful to finish our Dahlia and Arts Show with a great financial result, with a good profit for the first time in a long time. Workshops with Colley Whisson, Ev Hales and Paul Margoscy were well attended and very enjoyable by those attendees. Since taking on the role of Acting President the last five months I have tried to continue to keep things flowing at a reasonable pace. We have achieved a grant again for Dudley House exhibition, and working on a permanent solution to house our stands trailer. Thank you to our past president Pam for the numerous activities and opportunities she instigated as president, and thank you so much to my continuing committee for a brilliant job with an attention to detail, so capably and meticulously executed. It is wonderful to have a committee that I can rely on to complete the job! Thanks for those involved in grants, the newsletter, monthly activities and refreshments. All putting in a little bit and contributing makes things easier for everyone. As we approach our AGM I'd like to encourage members to think about what they have to offer, not what can the society give 'me', but what can I bring to the society for the good of all, developing and continuing fine art as a vibrant and rewarding past time in our community. With great respect to you all, Yours Sincerely, Joy N Tatt Acting President
