CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR NEW 8TH GRADE EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS The students were commissioned at Mass last Wednesday. Here they are sporting their Welles Crowther Memorial Bandanas. Welles, a young equities trader who always had a red bandana with him, sacrificed his own life to save the lives of at least 12 people in the south tower of the World Trade Center on September 11. Those whom he rescued recalled the man in the red bandana. It, then, is our symbol of the courage Welles showed...the way be became Christ to those in need. Thank you to all of these kids!

THANK YOU. THANK YOU. Social Justice in action! Thank you for your contribution to this year's house-build! Catch the Building Spirit (CtBS) has dedicated our 25th house to a qualifying Habitat for Humanity of Greater Dayton Ohio family. The Gabriel Family of four took possession of a newly constructed 3 bedroom home in Trotwood on September 16th. Your contributions helped to make it possible. CtBS had great support from local Catholic and Presbyterian churches as well as tremendous "in-kind" contributions from area merchants this year! Please look for the photo-board in the back of church to see your donations in action at this year's build. You can see lots more photos of this year's build, the family, and past year's builds at catchthebuildingspirit.org. Please visit the web site and consider volunteering or donating! TWENTY-SIXTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

ON THIS RESPECT LIFE SUNDAY, WE OFFER SOME STATEMENTS OF BELIEF RELATED SPECIFICALLY TO DEATH AND END-OF-LIFE ISSUES AS A REMINDER OF OUR HERITAGE IN CHRIST: I believe: God created me for eternal life. My life is a precious gift from God. I am created in God s image and likeness. These truths inform all my decisions about health care. I have a duty to preserve my life and to use it for God s glory. Acts that intentionally and directly cause my death, e.g., physician -assisted suicide and euthanasia, are never morally permissible. Death is an inevitable part of life and is a transition to eternal life. Death has been redeemed by Christ, and I do not need to resist it by any and every means. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come [The Nicene Creed] From A Catholic Guide to End-of-Life s Critical Decisions: Advance Directives was written by: Reverend Gerald D. Coleman, S.S. Vice-President Corporate Ethics Daughters of Charity Health System
