Note From the Pope, Pope at General Audience: The source of hope is found in God's unconditional love. At this morning's General Audience, Pope Francis continued his catechesis on hope, this week recalling that at its core is God's unconditional love. He stressed that unhappiness "is born of the feeling of not being loved, and that despite our sins, "God seeks us out, offers forgiveness, and restores us. SUMMARY OF POPE'S HOMILY Dear Brothers and Sisters: In our catechesis on Christian hope, we have found the source of that hope in God s unconditional love, revealed for us in the coming of the Son and the gift of the Holy Spirit. None of us can live without love. Happiness comes from the experience of knowing love, freely given and received. So much unhappiness in our world is born of the feeling of not being loved for our own sake. Faith teaches us that God loves us with an infinite love, not for any merit of our own, but out of his sheer goodness. Even when we stray from him, God seeks us out, like the merciful father in the parable of the prodigal son, offers us forgiveness, and restores us to his embrace. In the words of Saint Paul: "While we still were sinners, Christ died for us (Rom 5:8), so that we might become beloved sons and daughters of our heavenly Father. Through the resurrection of Jesus and the grace of the Holy Spirit, we become sharers in God s own life of love. May all of us find in God s embrace the promise of new life and freedom. For in his love is the source of all our hope. I greet the English-speaking pilgrims and visitors taking part in today s Audience, particularly the groups from England, Sweden, Hong Kong, Pakistan, the Philippines, Korea, Thailand, Canada and the United States of America. Upon all of you, and your families, I invoke the joy and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ. OUR TITHING PARISH THE MOST HOLY BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST Note From the Pastor, This Year $ 7,527.25 Last Year $ 7,836.00 Youth $ 29.00 CAPITAL CAMPAIGN Month of June $ 3,342.00 Total $3,177,753.45 Thank you for your continued generosity! This Summer I will be traveling to France from June 27th until July 14th on vacation. I will also be going to Lake Konstance in Germany from July 25th until July31 to preside at a wedding there for two former parishioners. Several years ago I made a promise to myself that I would only do weddings here at Holy Family. No more going other places. But when asked to go to Germany, I had to reconsider that promise. Fr. Bonaventure M. Wierzejewski, who is a Franciscan priest from Cracow, Poland will be coming to stay with us here at Holy Family from July 1st until August 8th. He speaks English well, as he was educated in England at one of their Universities. I believe he is in his mid thirties which ought to be a delightful change from having to deal with someone in his mid sixties, don t you think? NEXT SUNDAY S READINGS 2 Kings 4: 8-11, 14-16a Psalm 89: 2-3, 16-19 Romans 6: 3-4, 8-11 Matthew 10: 37-42 Fr. He invites us to take up our cross and follow Him, and to respond to those who are in need (3), as did the woman who extended hospitality to Elisha the prophet (1). Blessed is she who walked in the countenance of the Lord (Ps).

The 2017-19 Formation for Ministry Program begins in September, 2017. For more information about joining, please attend the Lay Ministry Information Night Thursday, June 29th, 6:30PM-8:00PM at St. James Church, 327 West St., Carthage, or contact Dc. Patrick J. Donahue at (315) 393-2920 email at:pdonahue@rcdony.org

ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP In the first chapter of his Encyclical Laudato Si -Care For Our Common Home Pope Francis highlights the tragic rise in the number of migrants across our planet seeing to flee from the growing poverty caused by environmental degradation. The Pope states that such migrants are not recognized by international conventions as refugees; and there is widespread indifference to such worldwide suffering. Reflect on how it would feel to be fleeing your homeland, hoping to find clean water and dry land.
