No God No Hope; Know God Know Hope I actually am not real big on short slogans because they can be misleading in their brevity. Cutesy phrases often do not express the fullness needed to understand a subject; they merely sound good. However, this little phrase above is very powerful in its simplicity. There is no true hope outside of a relationship with the God Who created heaven and earth. Occasionally, I will read where someone will write or quote a writer who tries to give meaning to life without God. It is amazing and amusing to see the doublespeak and convoluted attempts to explain the significance of life without God. Here is a quote, and I will let you explain to me what he is saying, if you can. The author Eckhart Tolle claims to be a spiritual teacher combining thoughts from various world religions, though he is very vague about a god of any kind. There is only one perpetuation of evil on the planet: human unconsciousness. That realization is true forgiveness. With forgiveness, your true power emerges, the power of Presence. Instead of blaming the darkness, you bring on the light. HUH? Really? How about this instead? Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter, Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. Tolle is right that we do need to leave the darkness and go to the light. The light is only found in Jesus Christ, with the hope that only comes from God though the Gospel. Indeed: No God, No Hope or Know God and Know Hope --Dean Kelly, Gospel Gazette Online June Theme: Improving Your Serve. July Theme: Ten Questions. August Theme: Come Let Us All Unite to Sing.

FROM THE MINISTER: Great Week at VBS! This has been a great week at VBS: good numbers, good participation from Eastern Meadows to teach and help, and good kiddos! Thanks to all who helped make this week a success!! Summer Sunday Nights Update. Thank you to Tim Stevens and Don Brannan for teaching the men this past Sunday night. Thanks to Cecilia Porterfield and Melanie Bush for teaching the ladies this past Sunday night. No more split sessions. David Hester and I will be teaching this Sunday night concluding June s Summer Sunday Nights, Make Me A Servant. Remember, July Summer Sunday Nights is Ten Questions and the questions you have turned in will be answered in July, beginning, July 3. August Summer Sunday Nights is Come Let Us All Unite to Sing. To help us prepare for August you are invited to turn in a song you would like Eastern Meadows to learn, a song you would like for Eastern Meadows to sing, or a song that you would like to be considered in the Sunday Night Sermons. Turn in the blue sheet to Steve Housley or put in the Sunday Night Service Box. Farewell to Kayla! Kayla Knowles has moved to Lebanon, Missouri. She moved early to accept a job.
