My Daily Book Of Mormon Devotional - 365 Day Personal Study Guide PDF
This book helps you answer two questions, â œhow do I make my scripture study more effective?â and â œwhat should I study today?â It is a guide to help you, and your family, during your daily scripture study devotional. There are many Book of Mormon commentaries and study guides available that give the authorâ s perspective on the Book of Mormon. This book is not one of them. The great truths of the Book of Mormon, particularly those that will be of greatest benefit to you, are found by going directly to the source then listening to the promptings of the Spirit. The study guide allows you to fully customize your daily devotional based on the amount of time you have available. It is divided into seven activities: Read, Look For, Ask Yourself, Ponder This Quote, Expand Your Understanding, Personal Application, and Prayer. This format allows you to select those activities that match both your needs and your time. For example, if you find you have limited time on a particular day you may only want to read the assignment and pray. On other days you can use the additional activities to expand your study and deepen your understanding. Following this pattern of scripture study and using these tools will lead you to ponder the Book of Mormon and will help you strengthen your testimony of its truthfulness as you listen to the Spirit. Additionally, it will aid you in obtaining the blessings promised by Elder Marion G. Romney in the April 1980 LDS General Conference:"And so, I counsel you, my beloved brothers and sisters and friends everywhere, to make reading in the Book of Mormon a few minutes each day a lifelong practice. All of us need continuing close contact with the Spirit of the Lord. We need to take the Holy Spirit for our guide that we be not deceived. I am persuaded by my own experience and that of my loved ones, as well as by the statement of the Prophet Joseph Smith, that one can get and keep closer to the Lord by reading the Book of Mormon than by reading any other Book. Don't be content with what someone else says about what is in it. Drink deeply from the divine fountain itself. "I feel certain that if, in our homes, parents will read from the Book of Mormon prayerfully and regularly, both by themselves and with their children, the spirit of that great book will come to permeate our homes and all who dwell therein. The spirit of reverence will increase; mutual respect and consideration for each other will grow. The spirit of contention will depart. Parents will counsel their children in greater love and wisdom. Children will be more responsive and submissive to that counsel. Righteousness will increase. Faith, hope, and charity--the pure love of Christ--will abound in our homes and lives, bringing in their wake peace, joy, and happiness." The 365 outline to read the Book of Mormon is just what my wife and I need to start off this year. We have enjoyed the thought provoking questions at the end of each days section. I like that updates and changes have been made to this guide during the its brief time of release. It show the writers care about their product. I have recommended this to family and friends. I would recommend this guide to anyone trying to read the Book of Mormon.
I was thrilled to download this to my Kindle at the end of the year and start reading it January 1. I was planning to take the year to re-read The Book of Mormon but hadn't had a chance to figure out how many pages/verses a day that would mean. Luckily, this book did the work for me! It tells you which verses to read each day plus gives you some quick materials ("look for" questions, quotes, thought questions) to make it into a personalized daily devotional.i am 8 days into it and my only complaint is with the cross references (the sections called "Expand your understanding"). First, it would be helpful if the references were listed in some sort of order so I wouldn't have to flip from Old Testament to D&C, back to Old Testament, to BOM, and back and forth. I have just started to order them myself and look them up more logistically. Second, twice I have gone to look up a suggested cross reference and there has been no such scripture! On January 2, it sends you to Ether 5:8, but there are only 6 verses in chapter 5. Then on January 6, the book suggests reading Matthew 2:28-31 but there are only 23 verses in chapter 2. Both times I tried looking for verses in surrounding or similarly numbered chapters/verses but couldn't find anything that pertained to the topic. Also, both January 7 and January 8 have Mosiah 1:2-6 in the cross references but it doesn't make sense for January 8.So, ignoring some cross referencing typos, this book has been very helpful so far in my scripture study. I plan to keep using it throughout the year. Finally a daily scripture study guide. I'm so excited for January 1st so I can really dig into this study guide. What I have seen so far looks amazing. I feel not only will my study habits improve but the understanding of the scriptures as well. If you're LDS and want a way to study daily with some consistency, this is a great help. You read the scripture, read something about it, a quote from the leaders, and then you're asked to respond to thought of your own. I have really enjoyed following the book day-by-day. The comments from general authorities and the questions the book asks as you read truly help you to "ponder" Currently I'm studying on my ipad and it is only available on the kindle reader as a sample. Are there plans to make it available in the near future? Also I would love links to the references built in to each daily page. I'm not sure if that is available.? I do love how simple it is to follow. I absolutely would recommend buying this Book of Mormon study guide. I have never before been a great ponderer of the scriptures, but the questions asked in each guide would help me to get deeper into the scriptures and to also find other questions that I could ask and ponder about.i loved the list
of scriptures to read that were in conjunction with the set reading of the guide, as well as the quotes from the leaders of our Church for each set reading.get this guide and follow it and you will definitely receive a closer relationship with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ while learning more about the Book of Mormon. Our family LOVES using this book for our daily family scripture study. I like how the Book of Mormon is broken down into small sections for each day. We love the questions--both the content questions and the discussion questions. We love the General Conference quotes. I heartily recommend this to all Mormons--whether for your own personal scripture study or for your family to use. It's so doable and easy to achieve consistency with. We look forward to our scripture reading every night. I've given this book to several other people as a gift. I like the visual reminder in the carousel of my Kindle. There are also quotes from apostles and prophets, related to the topic of each day's reading assignment. The cross references require you to get out your paper books. That's okay with me. I like the real books. Keep up with the assignments for each day, and in a year, you will have read the whole Book of Mormon, again.
