NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS A 2: P O C B A 5-10: C C K A 15: A O L (H D O ) A 26-S 1: A C M F P R T Y! On behalf of Monsignor Wach and all the Canons from the American Apostolates, we thank you once again for your assistance with the preparations of not only the convent but the grounds of the Oratory. The retreat is a time of spiritual renewal in prayer, silence and rest for the priests. You helped to achieve those goals by your hard work and attention to detail with the arrangements of each of the guest rooms and common areas. We received many compliments from the canons about the warm and inviting accommodations and how much they enjoyed their stay here. We also wish to thank everyone for the delightful reception in the church hall that took place at the end of the retreat on Thursday evening after the conclusion of the final Mass. The canons enjoyed being able to visit with all the faithful who were in attendance and look forward to seeing you during the Ordinations on August 2nd. May God bless you. W N M O We have had a number of people recently register at the Oratory who are now active members of our community. Please take a moment to welcome and introduce yourselves to the many newcomers. All are welcome after both Sunday Masses to join in fellowship during the coffee and donut hour in the church hall. C C 2018 A 5-10 Many who attend Masses at Institute apostolates remark on the beauty of the liturgy and specifically on the music which is an integral part of the Sacred Liturgy. The young members of our choirs not only contribute their voices, they give hope to the future of the liturgy. While regular weekly rehearsals are essential, it is the Institute s Annual Summer Choir Camp that has been extremely effective in honing skills that make our choirs what they are today. The 2018 Choir Camp will take place August 5 th - 10th, at the beautiful Mount Saint Joseph in Kentucky. Registration is open for children ages 10-18. For five days choristers will be immersed in daily music training, attend classes in Latin, Gregorian chant, music theory, and vocal technique, as well as daily Mass in the Extraordinary Form. Register Online Today: www.institute-christ-king.org/go/choir-camp/ Please consider making a donation so that we can offer Choir Camp scholarships to students. S S G T S G W Mr. Bob Shea gives 30-minute guided tours of the stained glass windows on the second Sunday of each month at 12:00 Noon. (Next available tour: July 8.) These tours highlight some of the more than 35 windows in our church and cover both the art history and religious aspects. These beautiful windows were installed by the Emil Frei Company more than a hundred years ago. The tours are free of charge. Please bring your binoculars. SCRIP G C P T SCRIP.

D S H F We are pleased to announce that, with the assistance of our friends at the law firm of Stinson Leonard Street LLP in St. Louis, a new legal entity, the DeSales Heritage Foundation, has been created. DeSales Heritage Foundation is a public charity, tax-exempt under Internal Revenue Code (IRC) Section 501(c)(3). All donations made to the Foundation are therefore tax deductible according to IRC Section 170. The governing instrument of this newly-established Foundation provides that its purpose is to promote and support the restoration, preservation and improvement of our church building, an historically and architecturally significant structure listed on the National Register of Historic Places. We anticipate this narrow objective will encourage companies, associations and other entities that may not wish to support religion, as such, to contribute. The new DeSales Heritage Foundation has already been approved by The Boeing Company as an eligible organization for the Boeing Cash Matching Program! Many corporations match donations made by employees to a recognized non-profit, such as DeSales Heritage Foundation. Please inquire about your company s employee gift matching program and guidelines. If you need to provide details to qualify DeSales Heritage Foundation for your company s program, please contact Mr. Charles A. Redd at (314) 259-4534 or charles.redd@stinson.com. B S E If you have not yet been enrolled in the Brown Scapular, you will have an opportunity to do so on Tuesday, July 3 and Friday, July 6. After the 6:30pm evening Mass you can present yourself at the Mother of Perpetual Help Altar and be enrolled by one of the priests at the Oratory. Please bring your own Brown Scapular! Please call the Rectory ahead of time if you would like to receive the scapular on either of these two days. P G Please remember St. Francis de Sales Oratory in your Will or Living Trust. An appropriate Will or Trust provision would be: "I give to The Friends of St. Francis de Sales Oratory, Inc., St. Louis, Missouri, for the Oratory's unrestricted use." I A The Oratory s biggest annual financial obligation is that of our property and liability insurance assessment. Our insurance assessment for the 2017-2018 fiscal year is $90,162.00. In the beginning of March 2018 we made our first payment toward the insurance obligation of $32,548.75. We are planning on making the final payment of $57,613.25 in June of this year. We are relying on your continuous generosity and donations which you exercise by using the insurance envelope and by your restricted gifts. Please help us off set this cost by donating today. P O S. F S O O A 2, 2018 With heartfelt gratitude to Divine Providence, it is our joy to announce the upcoming priestly ordinations which will take place this summer in Saint Louis. With the gracious permission of His Grace, the Most Reverend Robert J. Carlson, Archbishop of St. Louis, several American deacons will be ordained to the holy priesthood at St. Francis de Sales Oratory in St. Louis, Missouri, on the morning of Thursday, August 2, 2018, on the First Thursday of the month a day traditionally dedicated to the Priesthood of Jesus Christ. The Sacrament of Holy Orders will be conferred by His Eminence, Raymond Leo Cardinal Burke, Patron of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta. The Institute's Founder and Prior General, Very Reverend Monsignor Gilles Wach, along with the Seminary Rector and Co-Founder, Reverend Canon Philippe Mora, will be present for this special occasion, along with many Canons and members of the Institute family. The names of those to be ordained will be announced in the coming months after the important period of exams and scrutiny which is a necessary part of preparation before Holy Orders. The Institute is profoundly grateful to all who have offered prayers for these future priests, especially through the St. Philip Neri Seminary Society's program of spiritual adoption by which the faithful pray daily for a particular seminarian. With deep appreciation the Institute likewise is very thankful to all of the generous benefactors of its International Seminary. H S C C A R C N 17, 2018 10:30AM It is with great joy that we announce the visit of His Grace, Archbishop Robert J. Carlson, to Saint Francis de Sales Oratory on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 10:30am. Archbishop Carlson will celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation and will assist at a Solemn High Mass. O 2018 O C On August 2nd 4 deacons will be ordained to the sacred priesthood by His Eminence, Cardinal Burke. During the 3-4 hour long ceremony in our church, we would like to assist the families and friends of the ordinands who will be coming from out of town and who have young children by offering onsite childcare. We are looking for 2-3 adults and 5-6 teenagers to watch our young guests in the 1888 school building on August 2 between approx. 9:00am and 2:00pm. Please contact the rectory office at (314) 771-3100 if you are able to assist. L V! The Oratory could not operate without the help of volunteers! We are extremely grateful for the generous work, the common concern for the welfare of the Oratory, and the friendship to the Institute. If you have any interest, skill, or service you would like to offer, or help with handyman or cleaning tasks around the Oratory, please contact the Oratory office. There are always indoor and outdoor tasks for which we need help, such as: plumbing, carpentry, furniture repair, concrete repair, window and screen repair, wall papering, sewing, and housecleaning. Any and all help would be welcome and appreciated. H O H R! Spring is the time that many of us begin tackling those long overdue home repairs and improvements. Did you know that you can help raise money for the Oratory while working in the garden, painting the living room, buying appliances, installing new flooring, adding a sprinkler system, building a shed or upgrading a kitchen with very little extra effort? SCRIP gift cards can be ordered in larger denominations for those bigger (or smaller) home projects. Please contact the Rectory Office at (314) 771-3100 for more information.

TO ALL OUR GUESTS Canon Wiener and the faithful of St. Francis de Sales Oratory welcome you, and hope that your time in the Cathedral of South St. Louis may be an opportunity to share in the tradition of the Roman Catholic Faith. Please enjoy the beauty of this building dedicated to St. Francis de Sales, co-patron of the INSTITUTE OF CHRIST THE KING SOVEREIGN PRIEST. According to liturgical tradition, and the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite, Holy Communion is received kneeling and on the tongue. All visitors who are not of the Catholic faith are welcome to join us in prayer, but are requested not to receive Holy Communion. Because the reception of Holy Communion is the sign of Divine and Ecclesial unity, only practicing Catholics who are free of mortal sin, and in full communion with the Catholic Church should present themselves for Holy Communion. We pray for the full visible unity among all Christians. To receive more information about the Oratory or if you desire to become a member of the Catholic Church, contact the rectory.
