Volume 30 Number 7 February 14, 2017 TRINITY BAPTIST CHURCH TRINITY TIMES 4815 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC 27609 tel: 919-787-3740 fax: 919-787-4884 www.tbcraleigh.com Deepen The Ties That Bind Dr. Jeff Roberts, Senior Pastor jroberts@tbcraleigh.com Twitter: @Jeff Roberts Dear Church Family, I regret to inform you that my assistant, Liz Adams, has left our church staff. Liz and her husband Bill are moving to Knoxville TN. to be near children and grandchildren. Although I have known of Liz s plans for some time, the actual date became accelerated due to job opportunities and housing opportunities in Knoxville. We are saddened by Liz s departure but so happy for her and her family. For the past seven years, Liz has done a tremendous job. Her excellent people skills have enabled her to minister to people many times before I even related to them. She has assisted me in all aspects of my ministry and obviously her leaving will leave a void. I know you want to say thank you to her and to pray for her and Bill as they make this move. We have already begun the search for this position. If you would like to recommend someone or share this opening with someone please feel free to do so and have them contact me by email at jroberts@tbcraleigh.com. There will also be a link with the job description on our website at tbcraleigh.com. Just a reminder, according to our Personnel Policies, our Administrative Staff cannot be a member of Trinity. Thank you Liz for a job well done and may God bless you as you begin this new chapter in your life. I hope you join us for our seven week series on What the Bible Says about Race Reconciliation. This study will be a series of Bible studies and discussions about an important topic in our culture. However, the purpose of these sessions is not political or really even cultural. Our goal is to have a family discussion within the church on how we might understand each other. Dr. Randy McKinney, the pastor of Longview Baptist Church here in Raleigh, will lead our first session. Randy, who grew up here at Trinity, co-chaired the racial reconciliation task force for CBF of North Carolina. This task force was concerned on how to help churches reach across racial lines and cooperate in ministry. The Bible studies we are using for this study were the result of this task force s effort. Randy will be with us to share why he got involved and what he learned through the process. I know you will want to join us for this important study and discussion. We begin this coming Sunday night, February 19 at 6:00 p.m. We will meet in A214. TNT: The Book of ACTS Tuesdays thru April 4 6:30-8:30pm Men Facilitator: Dr. Jeff Roberts FH Women Facilitator: Robin Roberts Chapel Sign-up by calling the office, checking online, or on the ROC bulletin board.

Katie Medlin, kmedlin@tbcraleigh.com Words from Katie I wrote last week how play is work for a preschooler. Play might be the preschoolers work but it can also be fun! Dr. Seuss famously wrote, It s fun to have fun but you have to know how. Through play toddlers and preschoolers are constantly learning. There are ways that we can incorporate basic learning concepts into their everyday routines. Here are some ways we can do this: How Many? We are constantly doing things that require counting. There are ways to incorporate that into the things we do everyday! We love to sing to our children and we love to count their fingers and toes. You can sing the numbers forward and backward as you count and kiss each finger or tickle each toe. Teach With Sticks Shapes. Find sticks shaped like a Y, L, F, N or W. Gather as many letters as you can find. Numbers. Have children gather as many sticks as they can hold. Count how many sticks they have. Left and Right Begin teaching your child right from left each time you dress him or her. For example, say, Let s put your right arm in the sleeve. Now let s slide your left arm in the sleeve. You can also practice this during bath time: Let s wash your right foot. Now let s wash your left foot. Daily activities can be great teaching tools. Teach Creation Point out things in your child s artwork that God created a rainbow, tree, bird, etc. Hang the drawing along with similar pictures from magazines on the refrigerator. Say, God made trees, or whatever your child drew, and have your child repeat the line. Go through each item. VBS 2017 June 15-17 Mark Your Calendar.
