Church Newsletter: February 204 Will Hamric, Pastor will.hamric@richmondhillbc.com Church Office: 336-699-839 Upcoming Events Welcome to our New Youth Pastor Justin Crouse will begin his duties on Feb. 2. We are very happy to welcome him, his wife Jessica, and daughter, Hannah into our fellowship. Sunday Feb. 23: Baptist Women s Day: am service only (No 9am service) Penny Benton will be the guest speaker. There will be a church wide covered dish meal following the service. Donations will be taken of canned food and/or money for the bags of love and food pantry ministries. Sunday, March 2: Upward Basketball and Cheer Sunday Participants and their families are invited to either the 9 or am services Monday,March 3rd - Upward Basketball and Cheer Awards Celebration - everyone is invited. Starts at 6:30 pm in the Family Life Center. The Pastor s Corner Jesus Christ said as recorded in Matthew 5:43-48 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you. That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? Do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? Do not even the publicans so? By ye therefore, perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. A mother had a son who hated school. One weekend, the little boy cried and made any and every excuse why he should not go back on Monday. Sunday, on their way back from church the boys crying reached new heights. At the end of her rope the mother stopped the car and explained, Honey, it s the law. If you don t go to school, they will put Mommy in jail. He looked at his mother, thought a moment, and then asked, How long would you have to stay? I don t imagine that mother was feeling a lot of love from her son at that moment. Valentine s Day. The day that celebrates love. No place should be more loving than a Spirit filled church. But some in the church are not filled with the Holy Spirit. Romans 5:5 states, And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit which is given to us. Those who are filled with the Holy Spirit love those who they view as enemies. They pray for them and bless them. Those who operate under the guidelines and rules of the spirit of this world refuse to obey God s commands. If they even suspect someone might have offended them they say terrible things about that person and refuse to speak to them. Eloise s mother had a saying she would share when her grandchildren were fussing at one another. She would simply state, Love, love, love. Always good advice. May God bless you, Pastor Will
